College Football 19-20: Where We Kinda Want Clemson As Champion.

Only thing is that it doesn't reflect very well on the rest of the B10. OSU handled everyone in the conference pretty easily.

The top of the B1G is almost the same as the ACC, which can’t at be said about the Big 12.

Still, my team choked against this team.

It's not like they got trucked. They lost by a possession to the defending champs in a game where three plays resulted in a swing of 18 points.

Plus the Big Ten is 3-1 in bowls so far with the only loss to the defending champs. Though they are underdogs in four of the remaining five, so that could easily change.

Eh, Clemson tried their best to give Ohio State that game in the first 25 minutes. If the Buckeyes had any semblance of a capable red zone offense, they would have run the Tigers out of the building. Then Ohio State committed some absolutely idiotic penalties to get Clemson back in the game. Outside of the last 5 minutes of the first half, and their last drive, Clemson's offense played awful. If the real Tigers play like that against LSU, it won't be pretty.

Neither team played up to their full potential.

Neither team played up to their full potential.

Maybe both did. When faced with a team like that, it was the best they could do.

The only parts that can be said they didn't were the clear penalty mistakes- for OSU that would be the targeting and the roughing the punter that led to 14 points.

When you win you have achieved your full potential.

Lolwut.

If you believe games haven't been won despite players half assing it because they're still hungover from the night before, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

I believe the object is to win. If you do that you have achieved metaphysical perfection.

Stop playing the stereotypical ivy league nerd when talking about sports.

Great that WMU's alumni coach picked up 12 men on the field on the last two plays to lose on a 52 yd fg. Dude can't count, much less coach.

I hate seeing the Orange Bowl on something other than the late game all by itself on Jan 1. And seeing so many empty seats at the stadium, it appears fans are, too.

I know the CFP exists, but most years, these traditions can still happen. Don't make classic bowls into just another bowl game.

Then at that moment a player is playing at his full potential.

When it goes to 8 they have a perfect solution. Play the QF on January 1 at the Cotton, Rose, Sugar, and Orange. SF and F the following 2 weeks at their own soulless corporate sites.

The Big Four were all that ever mattered. Restore that. Seed the teams 1-8, then map the field according to the home seed:

Big12 hosts the Cotton
Pac12 / B1G hosts the Rose
SEC hosts the Sugar
ACC hosts the Orange

This year, by the final FBS Rankings:

#4 Oklahoma hosts #5 Georgia, Cotton Bowl, 2 pm ET
#2 Ohio State hosts #7 Baylor, Rose Bowl, 4 pm ET
#1 LSU hosts #8 Wisconsin, Sugar Bowl, 6 pm ET
#3 Clemson hosts #6 Oregon, Orange Bowl, 8 pm ET

Who's with me?

What if both the Pac12 and B1G winners are clearly better than the Big12? It happens...
Or if Clemson takes a dive, and the ACC is no longer the best?

It sounds good on paper, but there are details that need worked out.

It's fine, the hosting is just an assignment if the team makes the ranked slot.

So let's take a hypothetical ranking:

1. Notre Dame (Independent)
2. Arizona (Pac 12)
3. Kansas (Big 12)
4. Indiana (B1G)
5. Duke (ACC)
6. TCU (Big 12)
7. UTEP (Conference USA)
8. Rutgers (B1G)
9. Vanderbilt (SEC)

1. Notre Dame has no natural host so we go to 2.

2. Arizona hosts the Rose Bowl against 7. UTEP

3. Kansas hosts the Cotton Bowl against 6. TCU

4. Indiana can't get the Rose Bowl so we go back to 1.

Notre Dame is more traditionally associated with the Orange Bowl so that is where they play 8. Rutgers.

Indiana hosts the Sugar against 5. Duke.

The SEC has no top 8 and is shut out.

Regarding this year: It will be interesting so see how UMinn fares against Auburn.
