College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

How is Oklahoma still in the Top 25 (19th) at 2-2? They are the only 2 loss team in the poll. Get over them pollsters. They can't get to the National Title this year.

They've also lost both games by 1 point. That's probably why.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

We shall see, in 2 weeks. I hate that stupid off week (and it isn't like it helps).

I can see ND winning 40-38 or losing 40-38. Or losing 55-8. If the latter, Charlie can just clean out his office even if they go 11-2 (which is retarded, but the way it goes).

If Allen is healthy, Clausen's turf toe is a week better and they have more time to prepare...I like the bye week. They will need it.

And ND doesn't have their own refs. They all represent conferences that stand to gain if ND is not in a BCS game.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

With the huge caveat that the data size is still extremely small, Oklahoma is rated quite highly in the Sagarin ratings - particularly the (IMO) more accurate but not BCS-worthy Predictor rankings, which take margin of victory into account. Sagarin's predictor has Oklahoma at #3.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Another year without the ax. Parise I hate seeing them lost to the boring *** team and that ******** of a coach.
I didn't mind it to be honest. ;)

I doubt Brewster will splice together ESPN's multiple mentions of his record in trophy games to be part of a recruiting DVD.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

I know, it's not like any team Notre Dame has played has beaten USC...

Oh, wait...

Yes, because the situations are exactly the same with home versus away and the starting QB for USC being hurt and out of the game and our back-up was playing who isn't close to 100% himself. And he played terribly. And USC fumbled three times. And lost by a FG. You needed overtime just to beat Washington at home, right? They won time of possession.

But yes, it's as simple as saying ND beat Washington who beat USC.

That line reasoning always goes over well. And it seems very intelligent to use it too.

Wait... Hang on... I'm picking something up here...

What about all that footage of the empty trophy cases?

Its always interesting when someone applies the transitive property to the BCS title game contenders at the end of the year. You end up with a string of games where you could "justify" West Central Saskatchewan State beating Florida.

Re: College Footbal 2009: Anybody want to be in the Top 5?

Dammit ESPN put Stanford at #25. We're not top 25 and we don't want that sort of target. Yes it's been a great season so far and we've done what we needed to, but wait until we play Oregon/USC/Cal to give us something.

UCLA was a legit win. After all they beat a mighty SEC team!

Awesome. Who says college hockey lacks big time football powers.

But we already know that Florida sucks so this offers no new information.

They would need a year off to get Michael Floyd back.

if it was NE playing Indy Charlie would throw a change-up and come out running 80% of the time or go no-huddle and throw every play. That is when they felt they had the athletes and the defense to get that done.

While I still think he might pull something unique out of the bag, it is dangerous to get cute when the other guy has the horses. Seems like a good idea until they stop it cold and you are trailing 24-0 at half.

I think ND plays to keep the score low, uses the experienced line to run the ball and clock and looks for a few strikes on long passes to Tate or Rudolph. ND has also been vanilla on special teams...FC's by Tate on punts etc. maybe they try to pull some Beamer Ball and get a score or a big field position swing.

Maybe it will snow!!
