College Basketball 2024-25

I'll say it. It's been a farking boring tournament.
I think it's been boring only from the standpoint that we haven't seen someone unexpected make a run.

But the basketball has been terrific, and I expect the same this weekend. Seems pretty clear these are the four best teams in the land, and I wouldn't want to bet a sizable amount of money on any single one of them to win it.

It's sort of like college hockey. It might be "boring" when all the #1 seeds advance, but you can also expect to see some really good games.

I can't remember the last time there wasn't a single team I had even a passing interest in make it to the 2nd weekend. No Creighton, no Wisconsin, no Iowa teams, no small schools, no cinderellas, etc. I don't give a shit about the SEC, ACC, or Texas schools, the Big 12 and Big 10 schools that made it can go take a long walk off a short pier, etc.

There was only what, 1 buzzer beater? And that one should've been waived off for travelling?

Nope, it's been a completely immemorable tourney. The only reason anyone may remember this 5 years down the line is if it marks the true start of the NIL era.

Don't the numbers show that while people say they love the Cinderellas, in the years where it's chalk the final rounds get the better viewing numbers? People ultimately want to see the top-ranked Goliaths fight for it all; I suppose if a Cinderella made it all of the way to the finals people would watch to see if they win it, but if say an 11-seed if playing the Elite 8, most people assume their luck has to run out at some point, and that point could be it, so it's less of an incentive to tune in than one would think.

Just have the four teams with the largest fan bases play every year if the only thing that is important is TV numbers.

I just like well-played basketball, played by talented players, with competitive games.

It's true that we haven't had a bunch of overtime games, or wins at the buzzer, but we've had some really competitive games played in the last couple of rounds, and I expect this weekend to be more of the same.

Cooper Flagg had a great run, not bad for a kid didn't turn 18 until december of his freshman year.
