College Basketball 2016-17: Destination Phoenix

Re: College Basketball 2016-17: Destination Phoenix

It's quite droll how you are so unaware of your own sexism while you are so aggrieved whenever you think you see racism in someone else.... :)

So you would prefer he make jokes based on character and real situations, not random zaniness?

Re: College Basketball 2016-17: Destination Phoenix

...and with Arkansas beating Seton Hall, our last perfect bracket goes down. Two people are now 18 out of 19 (42 brackets total).

Yeah no. The key is to not sound like a whiny brat.

Also timing.

fair points. also, there is a difference between "humor" and satire. Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal is seen as biting satire, though it is not necessarily "humor."

Re: College Basketball 2016-17: Destination Phoenix

Nice to see men's teams able to make free throws when it counts. I think URI just hit something like 24 in a row.

Alaska is the only state that has never had a school even play in the NCAA tournament.

Wyoming won the tournament in 1943; Utah won in 1944 (over Dartmouth in OT). At that time, there were 8 teams.

Here is a bit of trivia: what is the only time a #16 seed beat a #1 seed in the Division I NCAA Basketball tournament?

(it is not "never").

Harvard women beat Stanford women when the half of Stanford's starters were injured and Harvard was underseeded.

Vandy went up one on a layup with 15-20 seconds left. Their coach begins yelling for a defensive set, one of their players gets confused and instead fouls the Northwestern ball handler. NU goes to the line and hits both free throws to take the lead. Vandy heaves up an awful three with six seconds left and loses.

I meant what did Pitino do

'Nova (#1 seed) is out thanks to Wisconsin - how many brackets does that bust?

8 of the 42 in our pool.....

Fortunately for me, I did a "blind" draw where I picked by attributes, not team names, and I had Villanova losing this game anyway (albeit to Virginia Tech... :o )

Upsets on the women's side in the first two rounds are very rare. Today, #12 seed Quinnipiac takes down #5 Marguette. There's never been a #15 over #2, but last night it was a one-point nailbiter at the buzzer (missed shot) for #2 <strike>Kansas</strike> Oregon State, 56-55.

UConn: 34 assists on 43 baskets. Whomever they have as producer of the live feed does a great job assembling the replay that shows how their offense clicks. Pass Pass Pass Pass Score. No dribble.

14 teams, ten in the tournament and the mighty ACC is nothing but Duke and Carolina halfway through the second round
