Re: 3-1 rpi

HUGE win for the boys tonight-puts Colgate in the position of having to win 2 in a row in Troy. Big advantage to win this first one. Go Red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Colgate @ RPI - Friday, March 4th - ECAC playoffs

I think we can expect a much toughrer first period tomorrow. Colgate just played a poor first 20 minutes tonight-the remainder of the game they were certainly playing equal or better.

Let's hope RPI can find their killer instinct tomorrow night. CUs backs will be up against a wall and will be playing with nothing to lose.

Re: Colgate @ RPI - Friday, March 4th - ECAC playoffs

the game ended with a lot of pushing & grabbing in front of the Colgate bench...JFK was incensed about something, so who comes out tomorrow with the chip on their shoulder? It was a very physical contest with a lot of penalties & as jericho stated, they were merited...also a lot of missed calls. For the life of me I will never understand a team going into a defensive mode to TRY and hold on. The only game I seem to remember them keeping the pedal to the metal was down in PU. I would not change the lineup nor the lines...with 1 exception, get Koudys back in, if he's healthy. Dolan played a good game but I would'nt want PK sitting out too long. As SA mentioned earlier, "we need to put shots on their freshman goalie". That they did in the 1st (17) but what happened to the game plan after that? As Gretzy said, "it's never a bad play to put a shot on net".....Shoot, shoot & shoot some more! Colgate will not roll-over.

Doc, you got this one wrong. We hit and skated rings around Colgate for the entire first period. By the end of the period, they were skating around like chickens with their heads cut off and taking stupid penalties because they were just confused.
We let them get their act together in the second and third periods. They are good, and if we don't push them, they will find a way to make us very nervous.

ehf- that is pretty much what I said-we played our best first period of the season-and then we sat back. We allowed the game to turn. Colgate will certainly not allow a free wheeling RPI in the first period today. This will not be a cakewalk. We are the better team-but we will have to show it for 60 minutes this time.

Doc, I was responding to your statement that Colgate played poor for the first 20 minutes.
I thought that they responded well to our push. Hitting back and trying to withstand the onslaught. They were just overwhelmed. And by the end of the period they were frustrated.
You are right about tonight though. They will be making their own push at the beginning of the game and I expect a lot of hitting and dare I say, penalties.
This could turn into a special teams game. I just hope that the referees keep it even, and don't put one team on the defensive for the entire game.
