Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Ughhh, blanked at home

Give credit to Yale's exceptional team defense and goaltending, but last night's loss sealed our fate for the ECAC playoffs - sending us on the road for the 1st round :(

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Too early to tell, we could play any number of teams including Cornell.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I believe we'd be at Clarkson if the season ended today...right?

You are correct. There are still 4 games to go, and I suspect a lot of shuffling will be going on in the standings. Keep in mind, when the calendar turns to March, it really doesn't matter what opponent you draw, given the parity in the league. But if we were to face Clarkson or RPI, I think it may be advantageous for us, primarily due to the recent playoff futility of the aforementioned teams.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Wow. I didn't realize that Colgate is the only team in the ECAC to have lost 20 games already, and is one of 6 nationally. The others include Colorado College, Arizona, Michigan State, AIC, and Niagara.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Looking at the ECAC blog and predictions this morning......Nate Owen forgot to mention/predict our game with Harvard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hoping for a good weekend for the boys! Go 'Gate!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I saw that also, geesh ! We need some good news, Colton Point our six foot four 2017-18 goalie recruit currently leads the CCHL in GAA and SAA. He's playing for the Carleton Place Canadians.

Bummer, another loss to the Big Green. Nice comeback with two goals at the end of the 2nd, but just not enough juice at the end. What?.....3-4 shots in the third? It won't get any easier tomorrow night. Rest up guys.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Just curious, what has happened to this team?

Mostly inexperience on the D-line, Finn having an ultra bad season, short bench - rolling three lines, and having the guts ripped out of the team when Ryan Johnson and Kyle Baun left early for the pros after last season.

This is something that sometimes happens to college teams during the off-season. I don't think Baun leaving was a surprise, however, Johnson may have been. Regardless, you have to be prepared for these transactions with recruiting depth, and it seems depth is lacking at both the forward positions and back on D. Finn having an ultra bad season is confusing, since one of the reasons Juliano Pagliero was hired was because of his coaching background at the goaltending position. At any rate, here's hoping better days are ahead for you guys. Good luck!

Baun a power forward centering the Spinks made that line what it was. There's no replacement for him as Don has tried Murphy, Borkowski, Dauda and others to no avail. We lost Baun, Johnston, Goulakis, Wilson, Gentsler and Lidgett from last years team, that's a ton of talent and SPEED. This year we lose the rest, Spinks ,Murphy, Borkowski, Lough etc. I don't even want to think about next year. Their are at this point six forwards and four defensemen recruits coming in, if theirs no talent there we're toast.

Tonight's game is being carried on One World Sports. If you have Verizon Fios, it's channel 597. Requires the Sports Plus channel pack (if you have Custom TV), or a subscription to the "Extreme" package. Not sure about other providers.

This brings up a pet peeve of mine. Help me out here, why do we - and some others in the league - make our games available free, and yet those Ivy Lg teams insist on charging a fee to see their home games? It should be automatic that all ECAC hockey teams offer their video to fans without charge as a mutual courtesy to all. While I enjoy GR's broadcasts on radio it sure would be nice to bank on viewing the games as well. Isn't it time we all played by the same rules?
