Colgate 24-25

This weekend's games at Colgate and Cornell will have a big impact on the final standings in the ECAC. The hosts will be playing St.Lawrence for 1-2-3 placing in the league, while Clarkson will be fighting to stay in the fourth spot. Should be four great competitive games.

Once again we learn that you can't count Colgate out until the final horn sounds. The second and third lines provide the goals in a stunning overtime win. Murphy was amazing between the pipes. Despite being greatly outshot / outplayed throughout the game by a solid Clarkson effort, the women never gave up. A great two point swing thanks to Peford's tenth goal of the season keeps 'Gate in the running for the season crown. Have to hope the women can win out and someone can beat Cornell or take them to overtime.

Clarkson might beat them tonight !

What happened to our horn? And to our lights out/player spotlight after a goal? What gives? We stole games from Harvard and Clarkson, just incredible grit. The H game shouldn’t have been that close and playing Walker seemed like a reasonable decision at the time. Taking penalties and having a thin defense is not a good recipe. We need to get back to blocking shots and shooting at all costs. Playing with a lead would be nice! Close PWR w/ Cornell…those 4/5 seeds are the kiss of death. Hope Clarkson splits the weekend. Go ‘Gate, beat the Saints!

With the two overtime wins this weekend, and Clarkson's loss today at Cornell, 'Gate is now assured a top four finish in the ECAC and a first round bye for the playoffs. Because Clarkson and Quinnipiac play each other this coming weekend, it is impossible for both of them to end up ahead of Colgate.

The Raiders now have a seven game winning streak (three of them in overtime), having outscored their opponents 24-10.

The Friday women's game against Clarkson was the annual Autism & Neurodiversity Awareness game (thus the team's blue uniforms). That is likely the reason for the lack of a horn after 'Gate scores. But the spotlight was on after the Petford goal.

Thx Quasi, the sensory issues make perfect sense.
Athletic write-up talks about 2 OT wins. It doesn’t feel that way. It lists our conf. record at 15-3, which is technically inaccurate. Grateful for the ties, but they also highlight our weaknesses.
Anyone know where we stand on recruits? After much success, we fell off the radar.

3 from Canada under 18 team were featured earlier on the women's insta and I believe they are locked in for the fall. Sydney Sawyer, Dorothy Copetti, and Ava Wood.

Other than its loss to Colgate in January, Cornell's only other league loss was in their first game of the league season to Union. Let's cheer for Union to sweep the season series on Saturday! Go 'Gate!

Things were looking good for 'Gate with 10 minutes to go, with first place in sight. 'Gate was leading RPI 2-1 and Union was leading Cornell 1-0. But congrats to RPI and Cornell for coming back to win (RPI in overtime). 'Gate surely missed their top two skaters this weekend that average over 1.4 goals total per game.

The four teams traveling for the first round of the playoffs are set. The first three are set, but the order is still up for grabs. Cornell can take the regular season crown with a regulation win next weekend. Five points separate fourth through eighth place. Clarkson grabbed the advantage for the fourth place bye with its win over Q today..

Congratulations to ECAC Regular Season Champion, Cornell. They are a phenomenal team and will represent the League well in the postseason. Their top player (Rud) only ranks No. 14 in league points, but it's their goaltending (Bergmann, 0.946 SV%) and their defense that steal the show. And we all know that defense wins championships. Murphy is only 0.001% behind, but it doesn't always feel that way. What surprises me a bit is their PWR. Cornell's OOC schedule/record is average IMO: Mercyhurst (T), Mercyhurst (L), PSU (W), RIT (Wx2), OSU (L). Against common opponents: Clarkson (Wx2), SLU (W, T), and Qpac (T, W). Other than their win %, am curious to see how they'll fare against the WCHA in the playoffs. For now, we're all 0-0 and we'll see if upsets loom!

Colgate-Princeton.
No one is overlooking the Tigers. They have some excellent point-makers in Issy Wunder, Alexander, Paul and O’Leary. Our GAA is stronger, but on any given night, who knows. Personally think home ice is meaningless. Congrats to Union on their first-ever playoff berth! Hope it continues in Ithaca!

Great gutsy win tonight to get through to Lynah. That we have made it this far with a depleted D corps and only 3 lines is a testiment to the coaching group, team leadership AND Murphy. Biederman and Kalty playing D says it all.

That's right! Decosse has managed his workforce very well. He showed great flair in reshuffling his lines so effectively. Kalty's 200-footer game show immense dedication to her team. The defense was solid and Murphy masterful. Special mention to Pickering, who played her best game of the season.

Yes, in her second year and despite the occasional penalty which she never used to take, she is really starting to use her strength and skill to muscle some big guns off the play. Not at all afraid to go toe to toe. Princeton has some great forwards and she helped make it very hard on them. Needing to skate more shifts this year seems to only have sped up her progress.

It's true that Pickering will have to be careful with penalties, especially at this time of the season. Another interesting point, and time proved me right. Alexia Aubin played with great aplomb alongside Pais and Kalty throughout the weekend. Despite a turnover in Game 2, she seems to be playing with surprising confidence for a freshman.

Also agree re Alexia. It's obvious Steph is very confident with her in the ice. She has shone she's worthy with her excellent play and fearlessness. She's another prime time player who gets better as the stakes increase and coaches ask more of her. I've watched her since she committed during her first stint on the Canadian U-18 team and noted this trait. Her bubbly personality also seems to make her a popular teammate.

Looked great until we convinced ourselves the game was in the bag. Hope we learned our lesson. Cornell will play a physical game to slow us down. We have to play just like we did for 2 1/2 periods last night. Speed and opportunity and as few mistakes on D as possible...Hannah can do it!
