Colgate 24-25

I agree with your first comment but it wasn't Farrah Walker's fault. I thought she was very
good and doubt Hannah would have stopped
those shots. Same lack of sense of urgency as in prior years but no one there to force us to perform. Until each individual takes it upon themselves to make the right play we'll continue to drift. Many, many mental mistakes and only one line playing well...The second line trying to be too cute. Get selfish, take the shot we need your scoring.

Hopefully this weekend series against a second year Post program instilled some confidence while also giving Stef a chance to tweak the lines and pairings. A lot of firsts and smiles all around but beyond that of little consequence other than to show us we have some solid pieces. Kalty is giving a clinic so far this year on face offs and how to play down low. Great hands. I think she really is enjoying being the main cog and it shows.

Will see if we can get the sweep over Maine today. Shots even and Murphy not impressing me as much as I'd hoped so far. If we are fortunate enough to build a comfortable lead, would love to see the 3 others get some playing time. Credit to Maine for their strong PK and keeping us off the board on the pp.

Both games, especially 2nd, much closer than scores indicate. We still get into lulls where we look like we are a sleep walking D3 team, ex. second period on Sat, but we won and others above us didn't so we moved up in the polls which is nice. Ella Belfry is playing solid D now and getting more ice time which she has earned. So first 2 D pairs of Pickering, Eichfeld, Borgiel and Belfry should be fine for the start of the ECAC schedule. Beyond that there are signs some players are getting better but we're not there yet...Nice to see Palumbo and Pais coming out of hibernation. When they get confident which they will, we will be dangerous as scoring from the 3rd and 4th lines has been ramping up. Alexia Aubin had a very solid weekend with a rocket slapper for a goal in game 1 and her assist across the goal mouth to EB on our third goal Sat was a thing of beauty...Kalty, EB and Kaia continue to be very solid money players...

Colgate getting some good early tests from unsuspecting league teams. All games closer than make me comfortable. We seem to struggle 5x5 and said before that Murphy is letting in her fair share. Against power teams, and especially during playoffs and tournaments, our offense may not carry her. Better teams may be more disciplined and will limit our pp chances. It is a different feeling this season and have had to show some grit and claw our way back more than once.

We've been really lucky of late and desperately need our depleted D to come back from injury. Hopefully Sambrano is okay and Eichfeld can come back next week as without them we may have to draft some forwards for the job. Top lines keep producing...

Apart from the occasional gift to the opposition, Murphy does a good job in front of his cage. I particularly like her play around the net. It's the defense I'm more concerned about. You can't expect to go far in the playoffs with such a small squad. Colgate lost Eichfeld last week and probably Sambrano this weekend. Borgiel is playing very well, but looks exhausted at times, especially in Saturday games. Although most of the goals come from the PP, the attack is still producing quite well. 8 forwards have more than 10 pts in 14 games and Petford is at 8. I think we should give Spieth more ice time and give Aubin, an elite passer, the chance to play with a good scorer.

A rebuilding year for the Raiders. Defense will be a season-long issue as we continue to play from behind. Outshot tonight 43-36. Carried the puck a lot in OT but rarely shot it. ECAC stats speak for themselves. Qpac leads the league in GAA (1.06) and shutouts (8). Tough game tonight on the road.

Saves - 2nd
GAA - 7th (2.16)
Saves % - 10th (.917)
Shutouts - 9th (1)

Offense
GPG - 3rd (4.17)
Shots - 5th
PP - 3rd (.338)
Penalties - 1st
Blocked shots - 12th
PK - 6th (.831)
F/O - 1st

How difficult is it to teach your players to block more shots?

Hard fought game last night. I really hope our two D are healthy again soon. Playing so short is really hard since we lost Morrow late and have another out all season so only having 4 d is tough going. Hopefully tonight goes well against Q.

Well we finally got bitten by our D. IMO the loss was due primarily to not holding the point on P's second or 3rd goal and their OT goal where admittedly a great shot and effort, our part time defender got deked where a full time D probably would not have. A shame, but Princeton looked very good and deserved the win.

In today's game, first score also caused by our D's inability to clear. We need Eichfeld and Sambrano back asap...

A noteworthy win against a stingy, formidable foe. Outshot again, but our special teams saved us. Murphy a bit more stoic, especially in the third when it mattered most. Some cringeworthy turnovers in front of her. Congrats to Kalty on career goal No. 100! Thanks to her and others, tiny Colgate is a national beacon of talent and success. Our D is suspect and we have more losses at this time of the year than usual, but we have to be pleased, considering.

TBill, that's maybe the most positive I can remember any of your comments, ever. I am loving the fact they keep finding ways to win where other teams might not. The leadership of Kalty and commitment of players like EB playing nonstop on both ends shows they're not about to make excuses. Go Gate!

They took Tbill's advice too and blocked more shots last night's game. Let's hope Syracuse is not a trap, and that maybe coming back from break we'll have a couple of players back, but they are doing a great job with being a short bench and playing back to back all out battles.

Under Greg each year's recruiting results starting getting posted on the Rink Commitments site in mid-October. Other than 2 for 2026-27 in Sept, so far not a peep from Stefan. Do we feel that's it for this year? Has anyone heard anything more?

Kalty just got some great press for her recent play in Finland with the Czech team as it did a round robin with the US, Canada, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland. Although the Czech team that competed was gutted by the majority of its top players opting out due to PWHL commitments, Kalty herself was highly praised by two separate writers for The Hockey News. They confirmed what we already know, she's a force to be reckoned with. I hope she and the team finish strong and she then goes on to glory in the PWHL and beyond.

The next three weekends will have a big impact on the ultimate final standings at the top of the league. Colgate plays their next five games against conference foes currently ranked 8, 12, 7, 7 and 9th in the pairwise. It all begins with this weekend's highly anticipated matchups with Colgate and Cornell visiting Clarkson and St. Lawrence in the North Country. Go 'Gate!

The game misconducts were: Spearing for Kalty and Contact to the Head for Brick. Are they also out for Friday coming up?
