Colgate 23-24

We didn’t win by 6 or 7, Oldtimer.
Maybe some ECAC/NCAA investigation into Kalty…?We don’t seem to be clicking, can’t give up 2g against a team with 3 league wins. Union played an A game, great to see. Wonder when they’ll have a breakout year. They’ve been in the basement since joining D-1.

This team owes it to themselves and Danielle to win out and clinch the ECAC crown for a 4th straight year. It's time for the upperclassmen to start playing with a purpose. I've seen no productivity from 3rd, 4th or 5th year forwards except DS. Without Sydney and Kalty we need you to score and make plays. Danielle has carried you in the past and now is pay back time. Look like you are serious tonight and carry the momentum into next weekend which may be the decider against two rising teams. Win Now, play like you can!

Announcer said there are undisclosed reasons for Kalty being out so there is obviously an investigation or something going on. Malachino is out for the year with a broken collarbone and Morrow is also injured but may be able to come back.

There is no investigation going on of Kalty.

Nobody on this team wants to play for DS.

Thanks to Princeton and Quinnipiac taking Clarkson to overtime, Colgate now has a 3.5 point lead for the top spot. Colgate can claim the regular season championship with three points next weekend at Yale and Brown.

Whatever the scoop is on Kalty, it’s had an unfortunate impact on the team. Her absence is glaringly obvious on the pp. Hard not to speculate or pass judgment when the athletic department is silent, but I suppose the player deserves respect until the issue is resolved. Unfortunate way to end a possible career or garner postseason awards. Our youngest players, what more can you say about them? Great recruiting by Fargo.
The League has some stellar goalies who have given Colgate fits. Swept by Clarkson, yet other teams have put up 2 or 3 against them, including Brown. Their goalie has 11 shutouts and the GK score just enough goals every game to win, which is why I think their defense has made them the team to beat this season, not Colgate. Osborne and Murphy are very good with s/o of their own but also give up some soft goals.
Who will replace Osborne? Next season we have some big shoes to fill. Our Seniors have left their marks on Colgate hockey for sure. Grateful that some consider staying for a fifth year, which is rare.

We’re hanging on to No. 2 in the PWR by 0.03!

Kalty wasn't on the ice last night after the game for the seniors presentation, though the other two players were. Whatever happened, it seems she's suspended from team activities as well.

She's not suspended from team activities. Correlation does not equal causation. You all are barking at the wrong tree.

#3 Wisconsin has two games against #4 Minnesota next weekend, and then two against #1 Ohio State the weekend after. #4 Minnesota has those two vs Wisconsin, then two vs #10 Duluth. And two weeks after that, those four (presumably) will play one another in the WCHA final four.

That's a lot of losses, and quality win bonuses that are going to be doled out. Whether Colgate stays at #2 in the NPI/Pairwise or not likely has way more to do with what happens in those WCHA games than anything Colgate does on the ice.

Rightnut, if you have information that others don't, why not just provide the information instead of being so coy?

Yes, I have been circumspect because I don't think it's my place to discuss what is actually going on. But people are disparaging Kalty with innuendo and assumptions, so I jumped into this to put another voice out there. I understand why people think that they are connecting the dots, but they are not and it's not fair to her. I am not saying that I think people are doing it maliciously. It's an easy leap to make. But as I said earlier, correlation is not causation.

Rightnut, other than backyardice no one on this site wants anything more than for Kalty to come back asap with her reputation intact. We'll trust your knowledge on the reputation side, can you opine on her return time? Will we see her again this year?

Going out of your way to protect Kalty, I found your comment about DS interesting. Perhaps you shared a bit there too ...

Whatever the reason, I felt very sad for Kalty missing the senior day ceremony. She is an amazing athlete and has achieved so much in her four years. It'll be fortunate to have her for a grad year as well, but I wished she could have shared that moment with her team. I very much hope she is back in action for this weekend and hoping we seal the deal for the regular season title. Hopefully if we have a strong play off run, we can hold onto the #2 pairwise position. I think the early win against Ohio State and the OT loss to them has really helped us stay towards the top. I think we'd have to take the championship to stay there though. My best predictions would be us vs Clarkson in the championship game.

I don't know anything certain about her return but my feeling is that she will be back, likely this weekend. At least that is my hope. But I don't have any actual information on that.
