Colgate 2020-21

re: Marmot's comments (above)...from 1979 through 2006 (essentially half Slater and half Vaughn, with Moore in for one year) the program was a distinct success: 490 wins, 363 losses, 67 ties (.569 winning percentage)...ECAC results were similar: 309-227-45 (.571)...starting with the 2006-07 season and concluding with last night we have the following report card: 211 wins, 274 losses, 72 ties (.443); ECAC mark of 120-157-49 (.443)...it's been pretty frustrating, to say the least...

Stick a fork in another dismal season. Best of luck to the seniors in all their future endeavors.

Our program is so overdue for a change I don’t even know what to say anymore.

Marmot - Stop beating around the bush and tell us what you really feel :-)

Good luck to the seniors - best wishes for the future, whatever you do. Thanks to the team for always trying, always putting in the effort in every game, & doing your best.

It's been a frustrating season in a crazy year. One can only hope the challenges of the pandemic played a big part in our uneven results. Next season we will have a head start on the Ivies and the RPI/Union "non-participants." Hopefully this leads to better results and more disciplined play. And better goaltending. Time will tell what happens to this program over the next 6 months. Keep the faith.

Let's see.....Basketball wins the Patroit League and goes to the Big Dance; WIH wins the ECAC and goes to the NCAA tourney; Football is a perennial Patriot League Champion.....Uh....er...what's missing from this overview?

Colgate DID finish above 13 teams in the PWR, like UNH, Maine, Ohio State, Michigan State, and only 2 below Penn State...I am all about silver linings lmao
Then again, our League goal differential is 34-51; may as well play with an extra attacker the whole time. Colton Point knew all too well that the program was doomed. So did Chris Wagner. We will never have an opportunity like this year to make it to the Title game in one shot. Outshoot your opponent. Get 2 leads. Lose in OT. Wash and repeat for decades.
And Vaughan's famous last words on the game: "I really like the direction we are heading."
And I say, Go to ___ .

Colgate's tumble in football is heartbreaking. The legacy of a PL Title for every graduating class is hanging by a thread. We have lost our focus. Our defense and running game are not the same anymore.

Ecstatic for St. Lawrence and wish them well in the NCAA tournament! Always love an underdog or a Cinderella team! They deserve it!
And congrats to Coach Brent Brekke who earned an ECAC Title in only his second year.
SECOND. YEAR.

TeacherBill, I totally agree with you. How exciting for Saint Lawrence!!
From a conference standpoint, a rising tide raises all ships.
Congrats to Brent Brekke at Saint Lawrence and Dave Smith at RPI for how they've brought their programs up in a short period of time.
In today's four conference championship games, three have real underdogs (SLU, UMass Lowell, and Northern Michigan).
Colgate was supposed to go to Northern Michigan early this season for two non-conference games; I hope that series gets rescheduled.
I am headed to Albany and hope to see Saint Lawrence there. I am also headed to Pittsburgh and am wicked excited to see another Frozen Four.
As for Colgate, I will again follow them in 2021-22, home and away. I am a believer that better days are ahead.
And I am also a believer in our goaltenders. They will continue to get better and better.
Remember when we couldn't score a goal if our lives depended on it? I do. Hopefully we've turned the corner there.
Anyway, stay safe all and continue to enjoy college hockey. And thanks, Saints17, for the kind words... and good-luck in your Regional.

I am also thrilled for SLU! A great game today. Congrats to the team and the coaches. Go get 'em Saints!!!!

The crazy season gets crazier...
Saint Lawrence coach Brent Brekke has Covid and the Saints are withdrawn from the NCAA tournament... and Quinnipiac gets the ECAC auto bid.

Colgate graduate transfer Jared Cockrell will be playing next weekend in Albany, N.Y., for #2 Saint Cloud State University.
#! Boston College. #3 Boston University. #4 Notre Dame.

Oh man, sorry for the Saints, much like BU basketball last year :-/
Both still earned their championship banners though!
I bleed Colgate maroon but do not share your optimism in the least, Iowa, not with V behind the bench.
Enjoy the games and stay healthy

Thanks, Teacher Bill.
I received Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination shot number one today at Binghamton University. Now I have to drive home from Frozen Four in Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 11, and arrive at Binghamton Univ. by 6 p.m. to receive shot two.
I purposely didn’t predict exactly when we would see ‘better days,’ I just said that they were ‘ahead.’ he he he

I logged in under IowaBasedTraveler and created my bracket.
I couldn’t remember the password for my private group, so I created a new private group called FrozenFoursome2021.

Iowa - Did you make it to Albany? Great game tonight by SCSU and Jared Cockrell!! Your thoughts? Did you wear your Colgate jersey?

CU13, I sure did. On Saturday, I wore my custom 2021 Frozen Four shirt. Today, I wore my Colgate jersey proudly. I yelled and applauded for Saint Cloud State in both games this weekend, because of Jared. On Friday, I watched three ESPN games. On Saturday, I watched two games including the Minnesota Duluth-North Dakota game. Now I am watching the Minnesota-Mankato game.
I have six tickets for Pittsburgh and am excited. UMass, Duluth, Saint Cloud and possibly Mankato. Crazy!!
Prediction: an all-NCHC, all-Minnesota title game in Pittsburgh... Duluth vs. Saint Cloud.

Shabby,
I assume you mean Pittsburgh (and not Albany). I have basically gone to all of the Frozen Fours (except 5) since Colgate lost to Wisconsin in Detroit in the title game. So my ‘Frequent Buyer’ priority point score is pretty high. Having said that, I was in Group C last Thursday morning at 10 a.m., so Groups A and B had assumedly already had their pick of tickets. They sold tickets in pods of two or four sets. Tickets were $150 per set in upper bowl and $250 in lower bowl. I am center ice, up high (just like Albany).
Albany capacity was 10%, but I don’t think there was more than 1,000 people there either day. They did a fantastic job of making everyone feel safe. And there was plenty of legroom when you put your feet over the seat back in front of you.
Pittsburgh capacity will be 25% for the Frozen Four.

Been on vacation so the answer to the following quiz is listed above. Since 2015-16 only ONE Colgate player has participated on a winning hockey team. It is of course Mr Cockrell. The new transfer rules present tons of issues and I doubt MIH will benefit. It’s what happens when you wait too long to take action. Blasi would’ve been a good hire but now he’s gone.
