Colgate 2019-2020

Don’t think we peaked too soon, too many close, 1-goal wins. We find ourselves in an early hole often and play from behind. Gave up 2 more ppgs...freshman goalie is good but young. We lack polish/finish. Glad the small team league is competitive but this loss will hurt. We won’t win if we can’t stay out of the box. No back door defense on their 3rd goal, only seconds into the 3rd period, just awful.

Great win on Senior Night. The goalie change made all the difference and could help carry us into the playoffs, if she stays.
How does the League place seeds in the playoffs when some teams have played more than others and obviously have more points?

If understood correctly, Colgate must sweep Qpac and Clarkson must lose at least one of its last 3 games vs. SLU to be the top seed.

The loss to SLU stings a bit more now. Don’t see Clarkson losing, but all we can ask is for Colgate to take care of the rest of its business

'Gate wins, Clarkson loses so it appears we are regular season Champs. Last time that happened we went to the NCAA finals

Colgate pulled a rabbit out of its hat - again. This team is frustrating, nerve wracking, and unpredictable. The only consistency is giving up early goals and playing from behind. The Raiders do not seem to dominate any 1 team, and I'd argue that all teams in the ECAC could beat each other on any given night. Will see if they can come out flying tomorrow and get the sweep and wait to see how Clarkson fares. Osborne is a solid freshman who can only get better.

Don't think there was any wildlife involved in this one or hats. Colgate has been a pretty exciting team to watch this year. Far from perfect, but great to watch.Nice come from behind W today. Colgate plays so loose on the backend regularly turning over pucks, but solid goaltending sure helps keep that under control. Some really bellow the radar high end players and emerging stars on this team that can compete with anyone. They are going to be dangerous if they get it going and actually play a little playoff style defence from time to time in the ECAC tournament. Quinnipiac looked really solid and looks to be a strong competitive team that's tough to play against. Would agree with you the ECAC looks like a pretty competitive division where anyone can beat anybody on a given day. Take SLU today beating Clarkson. Was a really good game that SLU was up 3-1 and won in OT. Needless to say you might have to give up your Colgate fan club membership if you continue to be so so hard on your girls!

Not worried about my fan club, just a tough, passionate critic!
Another loss. Another come-from-behind struggle. Is that success with such an unpredictable, loose strategy?
We win the majority of face offs. We outshoot 2:1. Yet we get behind early, give up another ppg, and can’t score. In fairness, the other 3 ECAC goalies seem rock solid. I would say Osborne has the most room for growth. Her game yesterday against Q was not the best.
in a 12-team season, we’d have our hands full. We’d still lose to Cornell, which is just our thing ;-)

Agreed. The problem is the carelessness with the puck in the defensive zone and general lack of structure in the D Zone.

I would expect more scoring out of this team. Many strong players on the roster, but the output doesn't reflect that. Can someone closer to the team comment? Is it a function of line combos that aren't clicking?

First, would like to say that the victories and RS title are bittersweet without all teams participating this year. Hopefully the 4 non-Ivies will represent the league well in the playoffs.

Agree 100%, EmptyNetter. Wish I knew. Maybe more scouting against the opposing goalies to know their weak side(s). Colgate did have the No. 1 recruiting class a year or two ago. That is simply unheard of for a school like ours. Serdachny and Kaltounkova are the real deal! Only 2 freshmen on the current roster, Kalty and Osborne...time to recruit more top talent again!

Not exactly sure how the tournament seedings were calculated...but when you have Colgate and Clarkson play 10x, and Qpac plays LIU and Sacred Heart multiple times, the strength of schedule/win percentage is not necessarily equal. Thanks for the help, SLU ;-)

Colgate will have its hands full next Friday against a great Qpac team and one of the League's stingiest goalies. We need some 5x5 goals and for Osborne to be solid in net. Great to be playing at home! Wish we could go.

This year's playoffs should be action packed
and assuming we get by Q'Pac even if we lose in the final we should go to the dance.

Next years recruiting class looks stacked again with 2 great scoring forwards (Google Katie Chan from BC and Neena Brick from Sask two U18 Can team members) and a ton of top notch D help. The "We skate free" ethos while occasionally shaky on the back end sure seems to appeal to a lot of recruits.

Fargo is an awesome recruiter and the new facility is gorgeous. Picking up Walkand from RMU as an asst coach was a huge get.

Can I ask where you found the 2 recruits? Is there a D-I list somewhere?
We are getting heavy in upperclassmen, could make it challenging when it comes time to replace them with young, incoming classes
