Colgate 2019-2020

Swept by Clarkson, lose at home, scored 1 goal in the series, nothing on special teams. There is no offense to speak of. So much for #1 PWR and Top 5, which was generous. Clarkson always a great team.

Other than Lonergan, Clarkson has not much offense either. Even Giguere is stuck in neutral although I think it was her that sprung Lonergan on the game winner. Lonergan now has 10 goals in 11 games, 8 goals against Colgate in the last 5 games between the 2 teams..

Great defense by both teams. ‘Gate had troubles against SLU as well and they’re not going away. Can also only ask so much from a frosh goalie. If we could play some other OOC teams in the top 10, we’d see how legit they are. My guess is not top tier but that’s fine, can’t complain about a winning season and the ability to play under these circumstances. Colgate recap gives no comment from Fargo.

I still love the way they play, the system constantly puts a lot of pressure on the goalie. However, you do need to put up some goals to make it work and Colgate seems to be in a goal scoring funk.

Agreed. Pucks not going in right now. Some of Colgate's bigger scorers from last year have not gotten going yet and the ones with the hot start this year have cooled. Clarkson certainly has righted the ship and look like where they should be. However, overall Colgate outplayed them and outshot them in both games. Lonergan went nuts and scored all of Clarkson's goals on some opportune rebounds the first game and some great rushes the second. Other than her, Clarkson did not do much and Giguere was invisible.

I appreciate the fair perspective. Goals win games, defense wins championships. How do you ‘score’ more, especially when you win more face offs and outshoot an opponent?
Stayed at No. 1 PWR, No. 5 ranking. Had more teams played this w/e, not sure that would be the case. One more weekend vs our familiar foe. Would be happy with a split. Could happen if we stay out of the box and score some ppg’s.

Colgate rights the ship for the day and win the 9th game of the season series-4-2. That assures winning the season series with one game left on Sunday.

When you have trouble scoring, is the Mercyhurst coach the only coach in the country that plays 3-5 systems in a game? Still love the way Colgate plays. Lonergan needs more attention - she still scored.

Exactly, Red...and like we don't know the name Elizabeth Giguere from 2017, either. Why not just shoot ourselves in the foot. We need a win tomorrow to stay legit. No. 1 in PWR & RPI, No. 6 win%, No. 5 in the polls...the latter tells me our schedule is a bit soft. We barely got by SLU. Meanwhile N'strn is 13-1, No. 3 in polls, 69GF/9GAA (a bit inflated...S/O vs. Merrimack (1-12) HC (3-12) UNH (6-10) Maine (5-7)...
We have good stats; can outshoot, win F/O @ 71%, but can't find the back of the net. Can't take more inopportune penalties.

Don't know whom to ask...
Does anyone know what happened to UVM women's team...can't find anything on their web site but their schedule stopped abruptly. I follow the Catamounts due to family ties.

Down 3-2 after 2, Lonergan/Giguere score, why not...
2 ppg for Colgate, need some 5x5, our weakness all year

Can't win when you have anemic offense and can't score even strength goals.
Colgate is good but overrated. Very even series against a great opponent. CLK won 3 out of the last 4 and is just always good.

Clarkson is starting to get production out of McQuiggie. I'm not sure you can read into anything with the teams playing each other ten times. Thanks Cornell for sitting out the season.

Hanging on at No. 1 PWR/ No. 5 Natl Poll...
On the road this weekend at Qpac and their VERY weak record so far at 7-3; 6 of their wins against LIU & Sacred Heart with a combined record of 1-9 and outscoring them 42-2...
Colgate will be hungry and Qpac still sits (surprisingly) at No. 10 in the PWR
Colgate has some great stats; dominates faceoffs, some timely ppg, outshoots opponents, but EV goals still hard to come by.
Really won't accept anything other than a sweep this weekend.
FWIW Clarkson has 6 games left to Colgate's four.

Congrats to SLU on a great game. Colgate has been overrated all season; outshoots opponents, wins faceoffs, but can never put pucks into the net. They have now lost 4 of their last 5 games and just lost to a team that has only played 6 games with a 1-5 record. They've crashed, very unforunate.

nobody has really solved SLU goalie if you look Colgate is only team to put 3 goals on her and had to go OT!
last week the 2nd game SLU played both back ups against Quinn wtf? But Quinn in 2 games only got 2 goals on Lucy Morgan
