Colgate 2019-2020

Colgate puts 3 out of 5 skaters on the ECAC all rookie team. Smigliani and Serdachny at forward. Bard at Def. Smigliani nominated for Rookie of the Year. Pretty good result for NeutralZone's top rated recruiting class. It would be really interesting to see someone compare the last few years of NeutralZone's rankings with how recruiting classes and individual players actually did to see how accurate they are.

I had to go back and look at the stats because Bard was surprising to me, but not after looking at her stats.

Bumping this up to break up the monotony of the Minnesota and UW topics !

Colgate is looking very strong. Have taken 2 out of 3 from Clarkson this week and really dominated all three games. The one game Clarkson won - Colgate outshot them 38-19. Colgate freshman Kalty Kaltounkova looks like a star so far. She has 6 points in 5 games. Colgate hasn't even gotten their leading scorers from last year rolling yet. Colgate returned 100% of their scoring from last year and they will all be back next year as well.

Colgate certainly has impressed me. Definitely are the better team so far. Other forward I was impressed with is Noemi Neubauerová.

Fargo has a gift for spotting talent and then closing the deal on recruiting. I think after the current contract is up, he will have his pick of jobs....of course he may just stay at Colgate.

Let's not even go there. As a proud Colgate alum and huge fan of our women's hockey program please give us a season or two more operating below the radar as we have the last 3 just enjoying our talent and depth and loving it when we are underestimated. The present team and next several classes are very talented and so far Greg and his asst coaches, all central New Yorkers by birth, appear like "...JUST staying at Colgate" away from the throngs and expectations of big time university hockey might not be a bad option... That said, who knows but it certainly doesn't mean he and they are not appreciated or won't be properly compensated when the time comes. Our AD well knows what she has and hopefully intends to keep the whole coaching gang happy, happy, happy... You should see their new locker room...

If you want to be below the radar, then the Raiders will need to make more of an effort to avoid playing in NCAA Championship games.

After a month off we start again with a nice win over Q who came in at #10 after 3 big wins...team had a little rust early but was smoking at the end of the game. Goalie Osborne is the real deal. Very quick and athletic with her first shutout!

Colgate's not so new wide open style against an outdated Quinnipiac style resulted in a 2-0 sweep. Quinnipiac can compete if the game goes their way, but is going to struggle to keep up if the d can't slow down a high powered team. Serdachny looks to be heating up.

Colgate dominated Clarkson 4-1. Interesting how much has changed in a year. It’s not close between these teams right now. Colgate’s recruiting classes are starting to show.

Key so far is great goal tending and depth. Each line is a threat to score so there is no time to rest for opponents. I felt bad for Osborne yesterday, should have been a shutout. Good news for us is next years class is loaded as well...

They are really playing great team hockey now. Very confident, blocking all kinds of shots, diving for the puck and when they are in their opponents’ zone really, really hard to stop. In years past Clarkson always found a way to win. This season we seem to have another gear.....

Agreed,They look very strong. Some exceptional talent up front, D tightening up and solid goaltending.

The D has always been good - Fargo's style puts his d in tough positions. However, his d put the other teams in tougher positions.

Had just posted on the Men's Forum...
9-1, No. 1 PWR...but competition is not the strongest. Put us up against N'strn, Wisconsin, Ohio State...could be a very different story. Squeaked by an SLU team playing only its 2nd game and was routed by Clarkson, 8-1. We've been taking a lot of penalties but seem to have multiple goal scorers. Frosh goalie holding her own, can only get better!

Tough loss but not unexpected. Need to right the ship on Sunday before the wheels come off the bus. Good team this season but same caliber as Top 5 teams? No.

Definitely deserved to be ranked 5. BC split with Northeastern, yet was swept by Providence. Fargo gets an A for effort, but a D for scheduling Clarkson 10 times. What a wacky year because of the virus.

Agreed, Totally deserve where they are, they have been strong. Clarkson is a very strong team as well with some very high end players in their first couple of lines(Patty Kaz winner & a finalist )as well as couple of stud D. They will be right there in the end. Colgate has a couple game changers up front and upcoming talent between the pipes. Biggest deficiency with Colgate is their D and lack of depth up front. However, they are highly competitive with anyone when their top players are going. Playing each other 10 times......Great Competition....or complete war? Will be interesting in the end to see how Northeastern, Wisco and all the other top 10 teams compete against each other if given the chance.
