Re: Colgate 2014-15

Question...We beat Brown, Dartmouth beats Q-Pc, Yale loses to Cornell. This would produce a three way tie for third at 26 points. Yale has the tiebreaker over us, we have the tiebreaker over Dartmouth, Dartmouth has the tiebreaker over Yale based on league wins(they split reg season) Who gets left out ?? My head's spinning ?

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Explain please. In my scenario all three of us won a tiebreaker and lost a tiebreker against the other two. Then it goes record vs top four. So we have three tied for third at 26 points. So would it be record against top three at the time. (5 teams) ?

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Explain please.

Take all 3 teams, and their records against each other. Yale has 5 points (3 vs Colgate and 2 vs Dartmouth), Colgate has 4 (3 vs Dartmouth and 1 vs Yale), and Dartmouth has 3 points (1 vs Colgate and 2 vs Yale). So Yale gets 3rd. Then you look at head to head between Colgate and Dartmouth, which Colgate wins. So Colgate gets 4th.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

WE WIN!! Team woke up in the 3rd. Some puzzling and sloppy play for the first two periods - we had some grade A chances and so did Bruno, but in the end we did it. Announcers kept saying Brown was beat up and tired from playing Cornell. I mean...like, we didn't play Yale in a hard game on Friday night?!? Yikes. Good to have next weekend off and give the guys some rest this week. Reload and get ready for March 13th.....Colgate Day!

We've really got to watch it with the penalties or we're not gonna go deep into March. Who owns the tie breaker between Dartmouth and Cornell? Anyone know?

Dartmouth swept Cornell, they won the tie breaker ...

Re: Colgate 2014-15

So I just paid the $10 to watch the game, figuring the normal 7:00 start. Doh! Still figure it's money well spent!

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Was at the game this afternoon. Sloppy 1st period, decent 2nd, TERRIFIC 3rd! The turning point came early in the 3rd when Kulevich scored. The red light didn't go on, and the ref signaled no goal, but Jake had his arms up in the air thinking it went in. Thankfully the refs decide to review it, and after a lengthy time at the review station, they signal goal, and I can hear everyone on the Colgate bench fired up. Then 17 seconds we score again, and everyone on the bench is once again cheering. The overturned call gave us momentum and took the wind out of Brown's sails. We found a way to win this game, and it earned us a 1st round bye.

After the game, I went down towards the tunnel where the players were heading back to the locker room, and boy, were they jacked up! Clearly they knew what was at stake, and they got what they wanted. However, we still need to play more disciplined. We were frequently marching to the sin bin, and although we didn't give up any power play goals, if we continue playing like this, it could be costly.

Finally, Nate Owen tweeted that Spiro is week to week. With the week off, hopefully we'll get him back in the lineup and finally have our full team healthy, just in time for the playoffs! Also, our next game will be on March 13, Colgate Day!

Re: Colgate 2014-15

SO proud of the team! Can't wait to see them play on Friday, March 13th in Starr Rink! GO 'GATE!!! Great job, boys!!!

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Finn saved the game for us, early in the first Brown was all over us, he made just tremendous saves, it could have been 3-0 five mins into the first easily. We played better as the game progressed.

Also very happy that Spiro is week to week now per Nate Owen ECAC columnist. Could it be ??

Chris Wagner called up to the Ducks for the second time this year, third star of game in his first game. We have a player in the NHL again.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Presuming Dartmouth takes out Princeton we will be facing a talented Big Green squad. They had a slow start but have had some big wins, climbed the standings, and will be a handful. Tyler Sicura (sp?) is one heck of a player. Of course should the Tigers pull the upset, we'd face former Colgate "alums" in Ron Fogarty & Co.

CHN reports that QU has slipped to #12 in the PWR and could be the only ECAC team in the NCAAs. Of course the ECAC tourney winner would get a bid I would guess.....and that should be us!

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Correct me if I'm wrong but we wouldn't play Princeton if they upset the big green. We would play the lowest rated seed and Princeton would play Quin?

I would be very surprised if the ECAC only got one in but it is possible. It is also possible they get 3 in. Yale is 13th for now.

Colgate will play the highest seeded of the remaining 5-12. Heck, you could theoretically play us.

No, if Princeton wins, they would automatically play Quinnipiac. We will get Dartmouth if they win, but we could also draw Harvard, Cornell, Clarkson, or RPI.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

This is a bittersweet week for a Colgate fan...everyone playing leapfrog in the PWR while we are idle. So the big question is, who are we rooting for to help our cause, both in league and out?

Got my tix! Hope the weather cooperates in 2 weeks!
