Re: Colgate 2014-15

My feed cut out late in the 2nd, doesn't look liked I missed much else. Trying not to overreact. It sucks to get thumped like that, but Q'pac is usually solid and maybe it was just one of those nights. If they lay another egg against Princeton tonight that's a different story, of course.

Refs were pretty brutal all over last night, let a lot of things go early. Our games with the Bobcats seem to be chippy, and they really let that get out of hand. And I say that without seeing the 3rd...

Re: Colgate 2014-15

I was at the game, and it was pretty chippy both ways as our games with Quinnipiac always are.

Based upon Vaughan's post-game comments that guys need to step up for injured players I'm thinking Borkowski is out tonight.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Total humiliation at the Kerrdome today. Let's hope we can do better on the slab tonight.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Just to chime in quickly...the rough stuff behind the play and after the whistle was going both ways last night.

Watching pretty close to ice level last night, no question that Q Pac was trying to "out tough" us, and they did. We may have tried to push back, but we were as ineffective at that as we were in our play. At one point, I thought the only guy for us trying to play tough with them was Spiro.

You got beat down last night. In no way did you should have had a sweep. It's not like you got robbed of the game.

You out played us yesterday but given the teams we should have swept. We played horrible. And it is two points we'll never get back we can still be upset about it

I have no respect for someone that says you should have gotten a sweep after getting ran off the ice Friday. That game could've been played 5 more times after and it wouldn't have been different. Yes we lost to a couple inferior squads but you guys lost to Mercyhurst so that logic goes out the window. You had the opportunity to sweep but YOU were severely outplayed so you can't say it shoulda been a sweep.

And sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your guy Friday night tore his ACL.

See you in February

ACL done for the year

Re: Colgate 2014-15

We were thoroughly outplayed by Q-Pac Friday night, but it's just one game. To Big Al and Q-Pac alum, we don't chirp on your thread(at least I don't) and it's not appreciated here.

Just happy we played like the team we can be last night. Our first SHG by a frosh, Spiro's first goal( a PPG), a bounceback win. We are banged up with two of our best forwards out for the season. I have heard that Spink has gone home, not official though.

The ECAC is topsy turvy, I am impressed by our next opponent SLU, all that matters.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

#16 in the PWR because none of our wins are against quality opponents (thanks for tanking SCSU). SLU looks to be the sleeping giant with Harvard. Preseason polls...always better to be under the radar IMHO! It's early, but the promise of this season seems to have been misplaced on the Raiders.
M'hurst is #22 and tied BU...wouldn't necessarily call them a pushover BigAl

If you say so then how can one argue UConn is? UConn tied BU and beat BC.
As for the guy who is upset that we commented, when someone says something ridiculous like we should've swept after getting throttled 5-0 and it never even being close, I'm going to comment cause that's not fair. If you don't want people to comment, don't say crazy things.
I'm excited to make the Cornell-Cokgate trip in February. Good luck till then

Wow - if Borkowski is done for the year, and if Tylor Spink may also be done for the year, I'm going to have to re-think the way the league may go. 'Gate will still be pretty good, but that's a lot of offense and leadership to lose so early.
We'll probably go as far as goaltending and special teams can take us.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Well if all this news is true that is a devastating hit for this team, losing your top two centers is costly to say the least. The expectation of this squad would surely change to just trying to make the ncaa tourney in my opinion which is always still a great achievement for about 90% of programs. I think they should still be a top 4 team in the ECAC with Cornell playing themselves out of any picture quickly, Union starting 0-3-1 in league play with the wheels seeming to come off inexplicably, and Yale struggling at home very early. RPI seems to be a Jekyll and Hyde on any night and I'm not sure that can sustain. SLU looks like a top 4 team and so does Quinny. I don't think Brown or Clarkson will be too much of a threat and Harvard and Dartmouth still have to prove themselves as they have not played a lot of games. Harvard has a big game against BC tuesday who is ready to put a hurting on somebody after losing their last 3.

We have four home games in a row now and I'd like to see at least a 2-1-1 record in that time bringing us to 3-2-1 in league play heading into the new year. A 3-1 record in that span would be nice and is definitely possible but anything less will hurt. The freshmen need continue to step it up along with Herrington and Kulevich. A lot of guys have a chance to earn some ice time so I hope they go after it and become assets to this now depleted team. Good news is we still have Finn in net and after Friday's blemish I was quite upset they got one with 4 seconds to play saturday night to take away his shut out.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

I was out of town for the past few days. I'm glad to see that we picked up a road split, but if both Tylor Spink and Mike Borkowski are done for the season ... OUCH :(:(:(

Fortunately, we have depth at the forward position. We still have 15 forwards without Tylor and Mike, and 11 of them saw regular action last season. By the way, I wonder why Julian Fialkow has never dressed for a game outside of exhibitions? Is he dead last on the depth chart, even behind the three freshmen forwards? Has he been academically ineligible all this time?

One game at a time. St. Lawrence is up next, and like Quinnipiac, they'll be out for blood since we ended their season last year. They've also been a surprise so far this season, since they lost many key players from last season and were expected to be a bottom-feeder. I guess parity still runs amok in the ECAC.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Noooo...say it ain't so with Spink and Borkowski. These early problems (Melville!)...ugh.

Vaughan said the 'Gate win over Q in Lake Placid last season was not even mentioned before that game for his team last weekend (hard to believe). Not sure if it was a heavy issue for Q; it's a new season. Do teams really hold grudges like that? They beat the #4 team in the country, that is impressive enough, no?

That said, not sure SLU is really thinking back to last season. We have had a good playoff rivalry against them, and we're a ranked team playing at home. They will throw everything at us for this game and they have proven they can win. Their goalie makes me very nervous and may steal the show much like Jimmy Sarjeant did from Mercyhurst 2 weeks ago.

And we need to stay out of the box. Finn can only do so much. Leadership cannot get hot heads. This is a game we must, must, must win and I see it having huge implications down the road.

How 'bout them polls...
Go 'Gate!
