Re: Colgate 2013-14
PWR Update: March 12, 2014
We are currently 16th, the "first team out" of the tournament. However, we can improve our Pairwise positioning with the following results:
-We sweep St. Lawrence. If we win in 3, we stay on the bubble.
-Northern Michigan eliminates Minn-State Mankato from the WCHA tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.
-UNH eliminates Northeastern from the Hockey East tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.
-UMass-Lowell eliminates Vermont from the Hockey East tournament. Has to be a sweep.
-Minnesota sweeps Michigan this weekend. It won't be easy, especially with the games in Ann Arbor.
-Clarkson eliminates Cornell from the ECAC tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games. (More on this below)
-Quinnipiac eliminates Yale from the ECAC tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.
With these results, we can climb to 12th in the PWR going into the final weekend before Selection Sunday. Also, because currently win the PWR comparison with Cornell, although we would like Clarkson to knock them out, it won't hurt us if Cornell advances in 3 games. However, IF Cornell sweeps, they even the common opponents comparison with us and that PWR comparison flips back in their favor. So yes, there is also the possibility that we could sweep and we drop a spot in the PWR to 17th (if Cornell sweeps, Michigan wins at least 1 game, Vermont wins at least 1 game, Northeastern sweeps, and Mankato sweeps).
