Refereeing was very iffy, but this is the ECAC, used to it sadly.

Agree. Kind of a sloppy game to watch, but pretty even I thought, with hiccups on both sides. Not a lot of clean chances by us and a few good rushes by Harvard. No sustained attack by anybody. I'm always surprised by how we can look so good against one team - i.e. QU - one week, and then come out looking a bit rusty the next. The effort was there but Harvard had a lot to do with frustrating us by loading 5 players in the box.

BTW, anyone watch using TPLN? Wondering if the first period was poorly transmitted, or just me? Picture was frozen at times and jumping ahead to catch up. Then in the 3rd I was cut off and it went to boxing at the Naval Academy....yikes :eek:

I watched the game through the PLN (Campus Insiders), and at exactly 9:00, the feed shut off on me. I then Googled "Colgate Channel 2" and recovered the stream from another source (the Colgate athletics website), allowing me to watch to the bitter end. If you watch the live video stream directly from GoColgateRaiders.com (search for Colgate Channel 2 on Google), it won't shut off abruptly.

Surprisingly for me, this is the first time in a long while that the live video didn't skip or freeze for me. Maybe my Internet connection had something to do with it, but the feed transmitted flawlessly in HD for me.

I wonder if we'll get free live video for the quarterfinals? Something tells me we won't, since the ECAC usually likes to make money off playoff video feeds.

Does anyone know if the free tickets they gave season ticket holder's for next weekend can be used for the weekend after because of the bye week? Or could those have only been used if they were playing next week at home?

Congrats to 'gate finishing second in the ECAC and the seniors tonight winning at home for the last game esp mihalik playing great . Unfortunately we got no help in the Pairwise with Vermont, Notre Dame, Cornell, and Providnece winning. Hopefully state upsets michigan tomorrow.

We got the #2 seed! This is HUGE because if we advance to Lake Placid, we would get the last change in our semifinal matchup. We would also play in the late semifinal game, should 'Gate and Union both win their quarterfinal matchups.

Dartmouth did not go down without a fight. They were fighting for home ice and have gotten their act together. Fortunately we were able to play great team defense and Eric Mihalik played a great game. Now we wait and see what happens next weekend.

Vermont and Notre Dame both play single elimination games next weekend, thanks to Hockey East having a wacky playoff system this year. If they both lose, we can pass them for good if we take care of our own business from here on out.

As of now in the PWR, are we the first team out? How will a bye week hurt or help our chances? It's the only time we roll the dice hoping everyone else helps our cause!

Congrats to 'Gate on standing 2nd at the end of a long season, after the media and coaches had them #9 (or was it #8?). It was an uphill climb. This team really matured over the course of the season and "grew up" before our very eyes. The turning point (in MHO) may have been those two ugly losses to UMASS; after the calendar flipped we came out a different team. Special props to Eric for last night's sterling play - he saved our bacon on more than one occasion; had some highlight saves. Dartmouth played tough. Hope the team gets some mental and physical rest over the next few days. Looks like we may face RPI or Brown - both deadly opponents....nothing comes easy.

A big thanks to Rainman - your video method worked out great last night :)

Entering the Cornell game, we had seven games left(five home and two away). We finished 4-1-2 hammering Cornell, beating Q-Pac on the road, and should have beat Union(two very bad goals). I figured 5-2 would give us a home bye. I think we're in good shape to win and a week off might help us get healthier in our quest for Placid. We finished strong and need to stay focused, with our record against top teams this year, I think we really have a shot at any team we play. Our playoff series will be intense, maybe RPI barring upsets. Glad we can't play Yale at home, looks like RPI, or SLU if theirs an upset.

And you can't face Union until the final, which is big since Gate and U are the teams that are on fire right now.

Since Princeton is toast, and since there is usually at least one first round upset, you are probably looking at SLU or Brown, neither of who should give you trouble.

I think any team can give anyone trouble in this league; we're all tied at zero now. We've lost to Brown once already. The Bears have beaten Qpac, Yale (x2), Colorado Coll, tied Denver and BC...if our loss to Harvard is any indication, it means records or stats on paper don't mean everything. Colgate's season is tremendous but there were games we probably should have won and others that we should have dominated more. The only legit team is Union...for the 3rd year in a row. We were fortunate that our defense stood tall against the Big Green...we certainly gave them enough chances on the power play. After they scored, they took over and we looked a bit desperate, not winning many faceoffs. I doubt any of us were content until the buzzer sounded. They finished 10th but played a great series in CNY this weekend.
