Re: Colgate 2013-14

Geez....all these "ifs" are driving me nuts.

I do know we won't have to worrry about Harvard any more.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

It is unlikely we go higher tonight as half of the games are league contests so a win by one will be a loss by the other team we have played.

RIT is playing but if that game helps us id be stunned

Re: Colgate 2013-14

And so we draw SLU. Out of the 3 possible opponents coming into Sunday, I thought this was the best matchup for us (based on how we played them in the reg season).

Only time will tell, just need to win and keep going.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

We've seen this script before. We will need to stay out of the sin bin next weekend.

Another Quarterfinal series between Colgate and St. Lawrence next weekend from Starr Rink. Seems to be the match up every couple of years lately. Good luck to both teams! :-)

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Should be a great series this weekend; looking forward to meeting the Saints again - a class school. We "cleary" have to stay out of the box, that's a given. :)

Shabby - nice call on Dartmouth - you were spot on...

I didn't want to have to face Union that's for sure and we don't matchup well against Colgate. Let's face it you guys spanked us twice this year. We have been playing a little bit better lately, especially defensively, but who the heck knows. I just hope we can be competitive and we have some close games. Would love to nothing more than to make it to Lake Placid!!!

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Interesting fact I picked up when looking at the projecting the ecac standings thread. Out of the remaining 8 teams we have only three losses against them this year. Two of which are to Yale, whom we cannot meet until the championship game.

I know the post season is a new and different animal but it shows that we can play with any of the remaining teams, and have a shot at the whitlaw so we don't have to worry about the pairwise.

There was no spanking in the first game, 5-3 with an open netter. We are 10-3-2 since Jan first and playing very well defensively. Thinking your PP is your best chance, has been one of the best. As I've said before, no one knows what to expect out of you guys on any night. The scoring potential is there, you give up a lot of goals though.

We have had some tremendous playoff series in the past, I can't wait, hoping it doesn't go three games, takes too much out of me. The key will be the goaltending, where I would think we have the advantage.

BTW...I can't find anywhere that says there's no consolation game in Lake Placid ?

Ahhhh, yes, but out of that 10-3-2 you are 4-3-2 since you last "spanked" St. Lawrence ;) Everything else I completely agree with. If St. Lawrence has a good goaltending performance this weekend, we will be competitive. If we don't ... We won't

And in our last seven we're 4-1-2 spanking Cornell 6-1, beating Q-Pac away, and tieing Union after being ahead 4-2 with Finn having a subpar game, to say the least. Will be a hell of a series.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

PWR Update: March 12, 2014

We are currently 16th, the "first team out" of the tournament. However, we can improve our Pairwise positioning with the following results:

-We sweep St. Lawrence. If we win in 3, we stay on the bubble.
-Northern Michigan eliminates Minn-State Mankato from the WCHA tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.
-UNH eliminates Northeastern from the Hockey East tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.
-UMass-Lowell eliminates Vermont from the Hockey East tournament. Has to be a sweep.
-Minnesota sweeps Michigan this weekend. It won't be easy, especially with the games in Ann Arbor.
-Clarkson eliminates Cornell from the ECAC tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games. (More on this below)
-Quinnipiac eliminates Yale from the ECAC tournament. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or in 3 games.

With these results, we can climb to 12th in the PWR going into the final weekend before Selection Sunday. Also, because currently win the PWR comparison with Cornell, although we would like Clarkson to knock them out, it won't hurt us if Cornell advances in 3 games. However, IF Cornell sweeps, they even the common opponents comparison with us and that PWR comparison flips back in their favor. So yes, there is also the possibility that we could sweep and we drop a spot in the PWR to 17th (if Cornell sweeps, Michigan wins at least 1 game, Vermont wins at least 1 game, Northeastern sweeps, and Mankato sweeps).

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Great work Rainman, so would Vermont most likely be eliminated if they were to get swept at UML this weekend? Or are they high enough up where they could still sneak in with an at large? We definitely need UNH to take out northeastern and minn st also needs to be eliminated. We need the WCHA to only put Ferris St. in, we can't afford to have these other teams outside the bubble winning autobids. I really want to see this team make the tournament, they have proven they can skate with anybody and could definitely be a frozen four contender. This is definitely a team a 1 seed would not want to play if they got the 4 seed.

Using the tool on CHN (which only allows you to change one team's results at a time), their RPI would fall below Colgate's if we sweep SLU and Lowell sweeps Vermont. It doesn't necessarily eliminate Vermont from getting an at-large berth, but we would be ahead of Vermont in the PWR.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I don't know about anyone else but i think this is a fairly decent matchup for us. The key to the games is going to be staying out of the penalty box.

Has anyone noticed in recent games that spiro has gotten a lot more of the after the whistle or aggressive penalties? If we lose, these type of penalties will be our downfall
