Re: Colgate 2012-13

Surprised by Gwozdecky's release...a 20+ win season may get a new arena named after you at Colgate! Such different takes on what constitutes success between west/east conferences. Surprised Sneddon has kept his post at Vermont as long as he has. Seems they've never really made the full leap into HE status IMHO, which is too bad. Wonder how joining HE has helped them...UVM has always had such loyal fans and the most amazing atmosphere.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

yes, very surprised at Gwozdecky's release...there's got to be something more out there...59 isn't that old and, what, he won well over 60% of his games in the toughest (over the past 19 years) league in college hockey...and, yes, Sneddon is still around, but I would imagine he's on a tight leash...

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Kingston and Goalie Charlie Finn are playing game seven tonight against Newmarket. Great numbers still.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Kingston was beaten 3-2 in the second OT at the 86 minute mark. He's ours now !

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Nice to see Spiro named captain for next season at the banquet. Hope he makes a full recovery and is good to go. Also great that Joe Wilson will be the assistant captain. Tylor Spink wins Best Offensive Player. That can only mean good things for us in coming years

Best offensive player always goes to the player with the most points at the end of the season - no voting on that.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Good news, Shabby. What is the caiber of play in the CJHL? Is Emilio taking the place of someone who dropped out?.....I forget.

Yale game should be on ESPN or ESPNU in an hour or so...

I believe that's the same league where the Spink twins came from.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Now says there's 22.8 raised so far of the 25. Three point two needed for new rink.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Sorry, 22.8 so far and 2.2 .:D Ralphy your amazing !

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Meaningless but Interesting facts:

We beat both Quinnipiac and Yale this year.

Also lost to both in tight overtime games.

Q and Y are playing for the national championship and we barely escaped the cellar of the ECAC, edging Harvard by one point.

Cornell, Colgate and Harvard last finished at the bottom of the ECAC... can't remember that happening in the same year before.

Colgate(1990) and Harvard(1989) were the last two ECAC teams to play for a national championship until this year.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Didn't see game, unfortunately, but gotta give Elis credit for going all the way. Should be fun next year facing the National Champions

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Yale's win was even more remarkable considering how they were shut out twice in the ECAC tourney. They sure turned it on at the right time.

I'm still holding out hope that one year we will go on one of those Yale-like runs in the NCAAs. But, just like the lottery, you have to be in it to win it.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

With the new rink only 2.2 million away I would think that construction could begin as soon as this summer. This is assuming that they are ready to break ground once they receive the money.

With reunion coming up in June I have a feeling they will be pushing it hard, hopefully putting the project over the top (although I do like the history of Starr, we need a new rink).

Anyone have an idea on how long construction on a project like this would take, I would assume over a year; so if you start this summer (or even fall) it could be close to ready for the 2014-15 season.

You have plenty of examples. Penn State's new rink is taking a year and a half, I seem to remember ECAV at RPI taking a couple years (although not a hockey rink, still a sports building project), and I think RIT's new rink will be around the same time frame. Expect around the same.
