Re: Colgate 2012-13

Are you guys sure you're coming to Ritter that Thursday? Weird that they would schedule you guys two days before Michigan comes to our homecoming. Well, since I'm traveling up from Arizona that would make my trip a whole lot better!

A quick web search doesn't reveal anything on where Nitsche may end up if he indeed is not coming. A perusal of the Heisenberg site doesn't show him as having committed elsewhere. He also may have Junior A eligibility left with Penticton since he will still be 20 when the 13-14 BCHL season opens. That said, we won't officially know the signed players for next season until the school makes an announcement - which will hopefully be pretty soon.

Anyways, since folks are wondering, here's what was on the program at the awards banquet in terms of the tentative slate for next year...

10/5 - 10/6 - vs. Ferris State
10/10 - at R.I.T. (assume this will be at Ritter since it's a Thursday)
10/18 - 10/19 - at Bowling Green
10/25 - 10/26 - vs. St. Cloud State
11/1 - vs. Princeton (Silver Puck Weekend)
11/2 - vs. Quinnipiac (Silver Puck Weekend)
11/8 - at R.P.I.
11/9 - at Union
11/15 - at Clarkson
11/16 - at St. Lawrence
11/22 - vs. Brown
11/23 - vs. Yale
12/14 - 12/15 - vs. Massachusetts
1/3 - 1/4 - at Minnesota (Mariucci Classic)
1/11 - vs. Vermont
1/17 - at Dartmouth
1/18 - at Harvard
1/24 - vs. Clarkson
1/25 - vs. St. Lawrence
1/31 - at Brown
2/1 - at Yale
2/7 - at Cornell
2/8 - vs. Cornell
2/14 - vs. R.P.I.
2/15 - vs. Union
2/21 - at Princeton
2/22 - at Quinnipiac
2/28 - vs. Dartmouth
3/1 - vs. Harvard (Senior Night)

Maybe you guys are having events on Friday that the Brick City committee would prefer trump the hockey game. Either that, or extending Brick City weekend to three nights in order to pull in more dough.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Yeah it's probably the latter. It's just weird since there hasn't been more than one Mens game the week of our homecoming game that I can remember. Either way, more hockey the better!

Re: Colgate 2012-13

What is happening with the new rink ? They needed two million more three months ago !!

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Tom Nitsche has committed to Western Michigan.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Doesn't everyone listed by Heisenberg sign a NLI ? He's not listed currently by Heisenberg as a Western Mich recruit ?

No, Heisenberg lists verbal commits. Although there is technically a gentleman's agreement to not go after players once they've verbally committed, it's not in stone until the NLI (National Letter of Intent) is signed, meaning they will show up the next year on scholarship. Whether he de-committed (which is entirely a possibility) or WMU has started with the poaching is yet to be known.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

can you blame Nitsche...our program has not given the slightest evidence that we are really committed to competing for an NCAA championship...I'm sure the Broncos will have a full roster next year that will include several freshman who plied their trade in the USHL...Western had a defensemen who played this year who jumped to the Red Wings and saw major playing time before being hurt...at present we have a roster of 22 players and only 19 skaters and no one from the USHL...if you're looking for a chance to play at a high level (in light of the current situation) who would you rather play for??? Sad, very sad...

....from the bottom of Heisenbergs "Front Page"...... The list is in two parts: The "Listing By College" page lists the NCAA schools and the players who have reportedly committed to them. The league and geographic pages contains a listing of players who have done well at the junior or minor hockey level, and therefore may attract NCAA attention. These pages of potential NCAA recruits are based upon the information available to me, and do not represent the views of the NCAA or any of its teams. Accordingly, many players who may attract (or in fact have already attracted) NCAA attention may not yet be listed because that information has not come to my attention. The listing of school commitments reflects reported verbal commitments to attend the school. Although verbal commitments are not legally binding until the player signs a binding NCAA Letter of Intent ("LOI"). Players who have signed a LOI are noted in bold. All other listings are of reported verbal commitments. (Ivy league schools do not use a LOI, so all commitments are verbal commitments only.)

you're welcome. I should've also noted that Heisenberg hasn't had a commitment since 5/10....there have been a few since, see; http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/commitments.php .......I'll assume Chris is on hiatus or putting together his updated "rankings" for next year which is probably why Nitsche isn't on WM's commitment list yet.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Does anyone have any idea as to how much more money needs to be raised? The last number I saw was the one in the press release at 22.8 of 25. That was back in February. It would be great to break ground before the season and have a send off season for Starr this year. As much as people dislike Starr I predict an uptick in attendance in its final season.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Wonder why it's kept such a secret ? Will it be "Slater Arena" or maybe "Kollevoll Arena", or some corporate donater ?

Re: Colgate 2012-13

A corporate sponsor? I would be shocked, stunned and disappointed if 'Gate went for corporate sponsor. I could see the building named in honor of the largest donor, but I think the rink should be named for Slater or other key leader from the programs past.

'Gate should test the waters and see if Andy wants to still be in hockey, (if he does) bring him into the program in whatever position he wants. Would definitely help recruiting, along with energizing the fan base and locker room. [I am well aware I am dreaming, but it never hurts to dream] Philly 2014!

What's so bad about going to Turning Stone Arena? Granted it doesn't sound that nice when it's on the campus.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

EEk on Turning Stone, I love the idea of Andy coming back to Colgate. What a phenominal recruiter he would be !!!
