Re: Colgate 2011-12

agree...sloppy, sloppy second, but Smith and Wagner are simply playing at a different level...speed and skill...please, no serious injuries and return of Bartliff to get second line moving would be a great Christmas present...Mayer-Firman-Prockow very solid...go 'Gate...

I would say that right now, Mayer-Firman-Prockow is the second line.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

When was the last time we won 6 in a row ??

2004-05
1/2 - Air Force (in Denver)
1/7 - at Harvard
1/8 - at Brown
1/14 - at RPI
1/15 - at Union
1/21 - Vermont

Interesting that only 1 of those was at home

Oh, and that year was the last time we made the NCAA tournament :)

Re: Colgate 2011-12

WOW. We will be the top rated ECAC team tomorrow, especially with Cornell scoring 1 GOAL this weekend and STILL getting 3 points. Gate put up 10 on the same 2 teams, same 2 goalies. Union with 2 ties and Yale losing at Brown.

We need Saturday night to be banged out. Anybody in town willing to sponsor a white out for t shirts?

Re: Colgate 2011-12

It's also the Saturday night before the start of finals week so student support, outside of the band, will be hard to come by.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Sullivan dissin us again...hope he looks at the previous link(ECAC leaders) INCH has us at#8 in the Power Rankings.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

I understand the frustration around last years "hang-over" with a lot of the press outside the ECAC world. Anybody who takes 10 seconds to glance at the link below has to come up with the conclusion that Gate is the top team in the ECAC on this Monday morning.

If stats meant everything, Yale would've won the NCAAs last year or at least make the Frozen Four.

However, needless to say, this year's Colgate-Cornell series is one of the more highly-anticipated in recent memory.

I read it that way too. As the ECAC writer, one would think he would have noted the ECAC stats before calling the offense mono-dimensional. Smith's having a great year; but with this weekend .... Wagner is tied for 2nd in ECAC points, Price is tied for 5th, and Mayer and Goulakis are not far behind. I'm liking the Defense and Goaltending, too.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Brian Sullivan should actually research before he writes every once in a while. That would make for a much more interesting column that actually can bring something to the table.
This may have been a nice touch to the article that makes some sense. Offense is a team game. Take a look at the NATIONAL SCORING race tandems. Smith #1, Wagner Tied for #17. To dig a little deeper, let's look at the top team scoring pairs in the country.

#1 Wisconsin Schultz-25pts Zengerle-25pts total 50
#2 Minnesota-Duluth Connolly 25pts Brown 24pts total 49
#3 Minnesota- Bjugstad 26pts Haula 22pts total 48
#4 COLGATE Smith 27pts Wagner 20pts Total 47

May have also mentioned the fact that Alex Evin has the #1 save percentage in the country.

Brian, this may have helped you form an educated opinion. PLEASE put in some effort.

Their copying the NHL, it was the same kind of hit. Will hurt us against Merrimack but at least it's a non league game.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Do we continue where we left off at the end of last season ? Once the goalie situation was taken care of we were a different team. Most of the team back, so many one goal losses last year, two promising frosh in Wilson and Lidgett, (our 17 yr old ) I see a real possibility here. Go Raiders ! Start your engines !

Remember when Shabby wrote this? I feel like I'm in a dream the way this season's going....:)

This Saturday's game won't hurt us in the league standings, but it could hurt us in the PWR come March should we not emerge victorious...

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Wagner out is not the optimal situation. If this is the year we think it is, they will play like they have and win this one too.

Really hope the school shows up to support them in this one.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Come on people. We were criticizing Sullivan the other day for calling us a one-man offense and now we're reacting like this to these news? While Wagner is a key player on our team and his loss will certainly be missed, we've got a group of talented players who are ready to step up. One or two men do not make a team. I've got a good feeling about this Saturday.
