Re: Colgate 2009-2010

McCann and Fenkell's prep season is over and I'm not sure on Mac's brother over seas, if anybody knows if he's still playing please post.

Below are next years recruits that are still playing.

Looks like the Omaha Lancers will be playing well into April and maybe May. Below is the link to Anthony Hamburg's stats. He played in all 51 games and looks like he was a 4th line guy for a real strong Omaha team. It is likely that he is going to have 60 plus USHL games under his belt when he gets here next year which should help to get him up to speed quickly.

Des Moines will not be making the playoffs this year in the USHL so Eric Mihalik's season is almost over. He played in 36 of 55 games for his team so far, which pretty much equates to a college season. Playing that many game in the USHL should help him to come in ready to go in the fall. He did not post great numbers this year but this Des Moines team is really weak defensively by all accounts. I think there is an outside chance that Eric may get an invite to the World Junior camp at Lake Placid in August based on his performance on the US Select team this year.

South Shore qualified for the Junior A National tournament by getting to the league finals, so Chris Wagner is still playing. Pretty good that the kid not only led in scoring in the regular season but he also led the league in scoring during the playoffs. The National tournament looks like it's this weekend. I couldn't find a link to the National Tournament only the Pointstreak from the EJHL. If I find it I'll post it.

I heard a rumor that Austin Smith may be signing with Dallas. I hope this is totally false, anybone else heard the same? Next years line of Day, Smith and Brisebois will be as good as any in the ECAC.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

RIT beats Denver, 2-1. If memory serves, don't we play RIT early next season?...(too lazy to look it up.... ) Kudos to the techsters. An all-NY State match-up with Cornell is possible, if the Big Red can solve UNH. Bully for the eastern teams..;)

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Can someone tell me when the year end banquet is?

Next weekend, I believe.

I don't think RIT is on next season's schedule. Still, we beat them in front of a pro-RIT crowd, and they beat Denver ... !?!?!? ... meanwhile, Cornell gets manhandled by UNH and "St, Clooud" wins its 1st ever NCAA tournament game. Crazy results which make up for my horrible basketball bracket this year (forget that tournament). Here's hoping Yale can make the ECAC proud tomorrow.

Ooops!!..spoke too soon...:o

Forgot to look at this year's results (too lazy to look them up..) Forgot we beat the Techsters at their place.

TVR: Still didn't answer my question though: do we play RIT next year?....

TVR: Still didn't answer my question though

That's because I don't know the answer :p

Pretty sure, though, that Rainman is right, and no RIT next year, but until we get to see the draft schedule from the banquet (assuming of course it's actually there), then we won't know for sure

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Surprised no one has posted this yet. McIntyre had a goal and an assist tonight for Lowell, earning the first star in the game. Is anyone really surprised though? Given what he gave us these past 4 years?

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Good for Mac. Here's to hoping he finishes the weekend strong and gets the call from New Jersey this week.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Here's my guess on D Mac. He has a strong game today and gets the call to New Jersey sometime this week for the playoff run.

GO YALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

don't know anything about Austin Smith, but that's my focus for now...we simply can't afford to lose him and, frankly, my guess is that he'd been making a mistake by leaving early. Don's pretty good about being straight with the kids and giving them the legitimate pros and cons of leaving early. He's a talent, no question, but my guess is that he's got to get a little bigger and stronger and a little more responsible in his own end. We have the potential to be pretty decent next year, but given our lack of depth overall and Smith's expected numbers, his loss would be a real downer...

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

IF Larkin and Price continue to improve and the goaltending gets a bump there's no reason we can't be better (we may lost to some below .500 teams, but also actually beat a few Cornells, etc.). I'm curious about how good this Wagner kid is out of the EJHL. I know nothing about the young man from Salisbury (maybe a character guy like Williams and Cox). McNamara's been in Sweden...tough to say...the college game maybe has gone too far in the direction of calling everything and emphasizing speed, but (being at Worchester) looking at all four team (even ND) it's amazing how small (and fast) virtually all the forwards seem to be 5'9", 170 pounds. ND had some big boys on defense, but, again, speed with skill dominates.

Took some searching around the USA Hockey website, but the Junior A Nationals have been going on this past weekend in Massachusetts with the finals tomorrow. Wagner's team is playing for the championship today.

A little concerned with Hamburg's stats lately in Omaha. Doesn't look like he's dressed the last few games and it doesn't say anything about an injury anywhere on the website. This is the last regular season weekend for the USHL.

You think we had some MINOR issues in goal this year? How'd you like to be at Yale? THREE GOALIES playing in ONE regional championship and give up 9 goals! Not good. What do you do with that?

He is listed as a 2011 FY, as is John Lidgett

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

I think that's a good signing adding a 90 birth year to the 2011 class and a defenseman none the less. D need a little more maturity to play the position in college I believe.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

I have been requested to post on this thread that I heard "from a very reliable source" that Austin Smith has NOT signed a professional contract, and that he WILL be back next year. Have a great offseason, everyone!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Rainman, best news I've heard in a while...I know Don works with each organization to determine what's best for each drafted player and they always have an Andy McDonald to emulate. Approaching next year with a decent amount of optimism (not like me normally) as I expect continued improvement from most of the kids. Competition in goal early next season should be very interesting...
