Re: Colgate 2009-2010

6AMSK8er...there's a difference between being optimistic and hopeful...I've never been known as an optimist on this thread, but I am hopeful that if St. Lawrence and RPI continue to be inconsistent the door could open. None of the posts so far exhibit any great surge of optimism about beating Brown. They obviously left a lot of their game in Ithaca. I still believe we'll finish #5 or #6, but I don't go into these games hoping the 'Gate will lose just to prove my point. BTW, I think we'd all be interested to hear your general thoughts; perhaps you can enlighten us...

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Thats what .500 teams do, beat everyone we should and loose some of the others. Its a good confidence builder going in to Tuesday.

Its kind of sad that there were players that didn't put forth a great effort on Friday night against a quality team like Yale but I am glad that the coaching staff did notice that and benched a few players for Saturdays game. (not naming any names) It makes me wonder about team chemistry. Maybe gate radio can answer this, did we dress one less goalie in favor of a skater or is dressing only 2 goalies having something to do with chemistry.

As far as the game on the radio it will be broadcast on 99.3 fm in Hamilton or 93.9 as you get out of town.
Lets hope there is much more maroon and white at Starr Rink Tuesday than there is red and white.

GO GATE!!!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Some will see the glass half-empty, others half-full.

From the late, great George Carlin:

"Some people see the glass half full. Others see it half empty.
I see a glass that's twice as big as it needs to be."

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Will there be streaming video / radio for Tuesday's game?

I'd like to listen in to the showdown in Hamilton, if possible.

We've got audio from TeamLine with our very own 'Gate Radio doing the honors. That's free at http://www.teamline.cc/teampage?teamcode=2007

There's also streaming video, but that'll be about $5: http://www.gocolgateraiders.com/showcase/#liveevents

If I'm not mistaken, the game will be shown on TimeWarner in CNY, so if you've got TV access, you'll find it there too

I am hopeful that if St. Lawrence and RPI continue to be inconsistent the door could open.

That's been our saving grace to this point (at least in terms of getting a bye). Even if it is against Cornell, we still have a game in hand on both of them. Unfortunately, we've already lost the tiebreaker to SLU, but we do have a victory at RPI under our belts. I tend to agree that we'll finish 5th or 6th, but that hardly means we should settle for it at this point. Should be quite a finish....

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Scratches from Saturday night as per the Hamilton Orthopedic Scratch Report at the tail end of the Face-Off Show..Nasca, Rivellini, both Long's and McNamara.

The message from the interview with Coach Vaughan was that the staff wanted to send a message to the players whom they felt didn't play well on Friday night against Yale. They weren't able to do this last year because they didn't really have any extra, healthy bodies. This year, with four scratches per night, there is some more wiggle room.

That said, I'm not sure why we did not dress a third goaltender - could be any number of reasons.

Tuesday night's game will be on Time Warner Sports - Ch. 13/26 and Colgate All-Access as well as on the radio (Internet broadcast link on www.gocolgateraiders.com). Mark Larson and Danny Liedka will be calling the game on television. The radio station (94 KXZ) will also be doing a live remote from the lobby of the Reid Athletic Center from 3:30 - 6:45. I've heard through the grapevine there'll be some interviews with players and coaches but I don't know more than that.

Indy650- Good of you to not name names when it is obvious the message YOU are trying to send.

Unlikely that I'll get that all the way over in Troy. But, I will try to catch the game if it is being broadcast.

Inconsistency is the only consistency within the conference.

The final weekend in central New York will be a doozy with 4 teams in the top 6 battling for playoff position. Hopefully, I won't be there to watch it because the RPI women will have a home series.

The message from the interview with Coach Vaughan was that the staff wanted to send a message to the players whom they felt didn't play well on Friday night against Yale.

So that would be Christian Long and McNamara. Hard to believe they were the only two.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

It looks to me that the coaching staff is utilizing its resources to work with the younger players in preparation of the ECAC's.
Evin is playing well, and I thought #24 looked great all weekend.
The Yale game was a far better game than the score indicated. Yale capitalized on our turnovers and penalties, however, in the first 10 minutes of the game, the play barely left there zone.
I believe we are heading in a great direction, and would like to see our seniors leave Colgate on a winning note.
A win tomorrow night puts us in 4th place. That would be awesome.

That's been my perspective. It doesn't earn me a pat on the back or fan of the year but my loyalty should never be in question. The problem with it coming down to the last few games is relying on inconsistency and help from the others above you. We need(ed) to get the job done and may have noone to blame but ourselves when it comes to a stupid tiebreaker.

Ditto.

We've been in a Big Red drought for far too long and it's time to play like champions in our own barn!

Go 'Gate!
Beat Cornell!

Bill Your loyalty is not in question, but, Your expectation with a team that has 8 Freshman and 9 Sophomores was possibly set too high. This team has 17 Underclassmen on its roster.

It has 3 Juniors, and 6 Seniors, with 2 of the seniors not seeing any kind of Ice time until this year.

Coach Vaughan is pretty much given every offensive player a chance to play with #26 this year, and the offense looks very good at times. In listening to the radio show early in the year, it was clearly communicated by both Vaughan and Mac, that stats were secondary to trying to win a national championship.

Defensively, that new crop is maturing at a rapid rate, faster than many should have expected.

My feel is that his long term game plan of maturing the youngsters through experience and mentorship this year, should give us a very good chance to go deep in the playoff run.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

We're running out of chances to win a big game....tomorrow's a "huge" game. If we can win and get to fourth place tomorrow we have a shot at a bye. We have RPI and Union home after that..a loss and we prob are playing for 5-8. Need to stay out of the "sin bin" as Cornell has a great PP. I think we need to solve Scrivens first also...can't play behind. Go Gate..get that big one !!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

We need to score first and early. We CANNOT let Cornell score 1st or score early. They're much tougher when playing with a lead. Doing some research here ... the last time we beat Cornell was in 2007 at home, 3 years ago. Before that ... 2004 at home, 3 years ago. Here's hoping that symmetry keeps its course. It's possible but it will take a full team effort. Less than 24 hours until the puck drops.

Go Colgate!!!!!

Rainman, I know you know most of the people still in the Band. Why the heck have they been missing games this semester? Shame on them

I do know a couple of reasons (or lack there of) for their missing games. The Robert Morris series...well, they just kinda forgot that one. During the SLU game, there was a Haiti concert in the chapel that several members were participating in in some way or another. As for last Saturday, I can only assume (which I may have overheard someone say once), that they won't go to more than one game in a day, and they were at the men's bball game that afternoon (not a good excuse for missing a game...I still remember the days the band was at 3 games in a day....). So, that's that....take it at what it is. They will be at the Cornell game.

As for the game....we certainly have our chance tomorrow. They played pretty good in the game at Cornell in November (including scoring first). If they can keep it up, and not have the let down at the end of the 3rd period (which seems to happen all to often against them) we can come through this one with a W.

That's what I want to know!!!!! And I haven't even been to a single home game this year :( Just road games within 2 hours of my residence.

Choosing basketball over hockey! For shame. I just found out who the current director is. It doesn't help that he (and the previous director) are Phi Delt brothers. (For those who don't know, the Phi Delt fraternity at Colgate has recently taken a liking to basketball, as if they're hoping for an outside chance that they'll win the Patriot League and get to see Colgate play in a nationally televised game.)
