Coaching carousel?

The "beyond remarkable" standard seems to have eroded a little bit in recent years in Storrs, eh? I mean, going from the Yankee Conference to a national powerhouse on both sides of the D-1 Hoops spectrum in a decade or so, check. Going from Atlantic Hockey to HEA mediocrity, with one (1) semi-successful post-season in about a decade ... hmm, seems a little light, no?!?

Dude….you’re holding on too tight. Let it go. The guy is a well respected coach. Keep praying he goes to BC and starts ripping off natty’s again.

Sorry Ms. Canaan, your use of the term "again" suggests he was instrumental in BC's past success, as opposed to one of three assistants working under a guy who'd likely have done it all without them anyway. I know it's Easter weekend, but please do keep the liquor closet closed, this does not suit you, and does potential lasting damage to your hubby's mediocre remaining coaching career ...

I will give you credit, your nickname Luce Canaan is fitting. His passion and fire gave the BC teams he coached an edge. One that’s been missing for the last 10 years.

And if you are in fact correct, where are all of BC’s trophies since he left? Ball don’t lie big guy. From 4 natty’s in 15 years to 0 in last 10. 10 frozen four appearances from 1998 to 2012, 2 frozen four appearances in last 10 years. What’s been missing from the dynasty years??? Hmmmm

Why are you so intimidated by this guy? Why does he live in your head rent free? Did something happen? Is it envy? Just a weird obsession?

Didn't you know Cav has a boat called "4 rings"?

The no national titles without Cav might mean something but it might not. The post Cav years coincide with the inevitable winding down of York's career. I think Cav has done a good job at UConn but York won Bowling Green's only national title without Cav. It's silly to then think BC won their titles because of Cav.

I dunno, maybe you might want to ask Jimmy Logue, I'm pretty sure he was there for all 4 of the title runs, too? Greg Brown was there for the last three of 'em, maybe he has some insight, even if he's moved onto bigger things since? "Ball don't lie", lol, what are you, 16 or just a wannabe bro???

I don't doubt that for a second. ;-)

Posted this on the Quinnipiac thread and am waiting for the ambush there: "I would be absolutely stunned if BC went after Rand. BC does not need or want a Jack Parker clone. Winning alone is not a BC thing, winning with class is and Jerry York exuded class. BC's next coach has to be both a winner and a class act." As to who that may be is the larger question.

So the obvious implication is that Pecknold lacks class, what makes you say that? Genuinely curious for your opinion.

Back when BC was playing Quinnipiac in the Frozen 4 he made derogatory comments about BC's team compared to his great squad. Others have chimed in with comments as to his demeanor to opponents as well. I'm sure if you looked for them you will find them. Like I said a Jack Parker clone.

Pecknold does not lack class, nor does Jack Parker. That’s just A tainted opinion from the eagle colored glasses he is looking through.

And yes, we all agree Jerry York was a class act as well.

Saying Parker lacked class is definitely not an opinion of only BC fans. Of course we are talking about on the ice/in the arena anyway. But even saying that I've grown tired of the word class. I prefer saying antics/tactics. I do not remember these alleged Pecknold comments though.

York had a player toss out racial slurs and did nothing…he isn’t infallible. Goes both ways as it should.

Any proof to back that up that you care to share? Or do you just toss out accusations to see what sticks?

It was on a TV interview during the Frozen 4. He was talking about how much better his team was compared to BC as if BC didn't even belong on the same ice. Most coaches give credit to their opponents, he appeared to hold a grudge. It stunned me and has tarnished my view of him since.

Unless there's a different interview out there then this one, he was pretty complimentary to BC and JY here

I don't understand the fascination among the Hastings theorists. I mean, I completely get why he is lusted after - national CotY two years running and has obviously done a phenomenal job. But, why leave? He's making good cake. Are other jobs really that much more attractive to uproot to Boston or Ann Arbor or East Lansing??

Because there's Minnesota State money........

And then there's Big Ten money!

BTW, what's up with The Ann Arbor comment? I follow Big Ten hockey quite a bit and is Michigan looking to move on from Mel Pearson or vice-versa?

Mel Pearson's contract was up at the end of this year and there still hasn't been a new deal announced. Most people think it'll be done but there is the investigation hanging over the program so there is a school of thought they could let him walk because of it. Here's a decent article about it
