What is it with all these shot clock adjustments in the NCAA. :o Saw similar comments about shot clock run-ups (oops snafu's) in a report of a weekend game involving another ECAC team. :(

Congrats to the Knights on good weekend sweep. They completely dominated both Yale and Brown but had a little trouble solving the goaltending. There was no panic .....they stuck to their game plan and kept working hard . The beauty of this team is their depth. On any given night they are all capable of putting the puck in the net. Keep it going ladies!!!!!!!!

Agreed...congrats not only to #2, but to the steep improvement versus last season--you couldn't wish for a nicer coaching staff so it's great to see them achieve this success.

I agree. This is a hard working group, from the coaches down. The team has great pep band support and a devoted fan following from the community. Nice to see at the women's level.

For a team that is #2 in the nation, the lack of fannies in the seats is depressing. They should be over 1,000 for every home game.

This is an Olympic year and strange things happen in womens hockey when the best players are off with the national teams. If Clarkson can sustain the ranking through next season, then they are on to something.

Are we going to hear all year that this is an Olympic year and it really doesn't count, or can we simply enjoy the season for what it is?? my preference is the latter...

Me too. Even without the Olympic year, the dynamics of some teams would still be different, due to the loss of top players to graduation. Lets focus on this year and what the various teams can accomplish.

Viewing the program from a distance, it seems that they are showing improvement for the long term, not just a one-year spike.

Congrats to the Knights on a very solid weekend.....it was nice to see the girls really bare down and play some great defense. Harvard gave them all they could handle and so did the refs. I would love to see a replay of the first goal called back. I believe it was behind Kessler before the net came off. The Dartmouth game was also a good game but wayyyyyy too many penalties. I believe the Knights killed off 13 0f the 14 penalties on the weekend. They have a great penalty kill.....I would just like to see them use it less often. It did seem like the refs were out to get us this weekend.......just my opinion. Great weekend sweep against two very good teams. Keep it going Knights!!!!!!

It was interesting to see these games and how they ended up. Certainly, the Knights are a BIG physical team. I do think that both Dartmouth and Harvard are much faster teams which may have led to a few of the penalities being called. It will be interesting to see how the Teams compete the next time around. The Knights have played together in 11 or 12 games so far this season, as Dartmouth and Harvard had only played 2. Fun to watch.

I have perhaps been tough on Clarkson in the past. The effort seems to not have been sustained all season long in some prior years. We are off to a tremendous start. Perhaps the best start in the program's history. Thibault is a huge addition. Congratulations to all. And somewhat isolated Potsdam (pop 10,000 last, 2000 census)- it is so good to hear of strong local support. Big challenge tonight in Ithaca against another program on the move. Great good luck!

Another upstate N Y program on the move!

I don't think that was the case. Clarkson looks to me like a team that brings their lunch bucket with them every game and isn't afraid to put in an honest day's work. The Gophers have a number of people with quick feet and quick hands that enabled them to win more than their share of battles along the boards that went a long way to yielding a territorial advantage on the weekend.

In each game, Clarkson had a chance to grab the early lead only to be robbed by Räty. I wonder how different the weekend would have unfolded had those saves not been made. There was also a sequence in the first where the Minnesota was stuck in its own zone and badly needed a change, but the Knights were whistled for a hand pass. That was a big break for UM as well.

She did a very nice job of stopping the first shot all weekend long. Friday she had some problems with rebound control on low shots, and Saturday, the high ones gave her a bit more problems. But given the quality of some of the Gopher attempts Saturday, I thought she did a great job to hold them to two.

If these two teams meet again down the road, I'd expect the games to be at least slightly more to Clarkson's liking. Given neither was that familiar with the other, Minnesota's speed enabled them to better recover from their mistakes. Another time, the Golden Knights would have a better idea of what they need to limit.

You look to have a very dangerous team. I imagine that they can score in bunches when they get rolling. I fully expect some fun weekends ahead this season for Clarkson fans.

Clarkson moves back up to #3. Great game on Saturday with Mercyhurst. It sure looked like we scored a goal in overtime for the win, but local officials say no. Hopefully we can take that same energy into the next few weeks.

Sure was a great game on Saturday. Clarkson showed a lot of character....they just never quit. Mercyhurst tying goal was just bad luck for the Kinghts. One of the D tried to hit the puck out of mid air and sent it into her own net. I thought we had two great chances to win it in OT. Baribeau hit the cross bar and the puck landed half on the line and when the goalie put her glove on it she pushed it all the way in but the ref was way out of position. Had he been on the line he would have seen it. Nonetheless it was an exciting game for the fans and I really hope we meet them again this year!!!!! Go Knights!!!!
