Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Sure was a great game on Saturday. Clarkson showed a lot of character....they just never quit. Mercyhurst tying goal was just bad luck for the Kinghts. One of the D tried to hit the puck out of mid air and sent it into her own net. I thought we had two great chances to win it in OT. Baribeau hit the cross bar and the puck landed half on the line and when the goalie put her glove on it she pushed it all the way in but the ref was way out of position. Had he been on the line he would have seen it. Nonetheless it was an exciting game for the fans and I really hope we meet them again this year!!!!! Go Knights!!!!

No, the goalie did not push the puck all the way in.

Sorry, Northerner - but I have to agree with MICZamboni. VERY reliable source was on the goal-line with his camera ready to photo the game winner, says it stopped dead after hitting the cross bar.

Thats exactly what it did. I was on the line as well.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Clarkson with another win. Tonight over Colgate 3-0. LD with her 7th shut out on the year! Congratulations Knights! Looking forward to Cornell tomorrow.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

3-1 Saints over the Knights at the end of the first. Shots 9-9.

Goals by Fernandez (PP), Bero, Goldsmith and Waldie (PP, though i thought it was already over?)

Clarkson started slow while the Saints came out fast, they look pretty good tonight, but the Knights are picking it up.

Also, Neumann is in net tonight. Smart idea of the coaches to finally rotate the goalies(!)....Its about time the cute couple got the hint from Minnesota. No point in stocking your roster with top notch goalies if you aren't gonna play them.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Here's hoping Clarkson fans all vote for Carlee Eusepi to send her to the Skills Challenge. Great girl and great player who certainly deserves the honour.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

What Happened in Minnesota ?
Frost has the sense to play the goalies he recruits. Wish the Clarkson couple would catch on...tho this problem dates back to when Seeley was in charge. He had the weirdest goalie tactics ever.

Have to give SLU credit for this win. Despite Dahm not able to play because of illness, the Saints played arguably their best period of hockey in the first. Of Clarkson's 9 shots, the majority came from the blue line and were pretty routine saves. Much different look than the game in Cheel back in October....

As for Neumann in net, I thought she handled herself well for her first collegiate action. Though I don't think Dahm would've given up the 4th goal, the three first period goals were pretty solid. Clarkson looked much much better in the final two periods, but SLU was able to keep Selina/Baribeau/Thibault and company from creating much room to shoot.

It still looks like the road to the ECAC Hockey title runs through Potsdam, but this could be a season-salvaging win for St. Lawrence.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Senior night - let's finish the regular seaon off strong with a win over Harvard. It would be great going into the playoff with a win.

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

A very disappointing end to the regular season for Clarkson fans after a great run most of the way....only to have the regular season title slip away on the final weekend.

Now it looks like Clarkson may have to win the ECAC playoff title to advance, or if they can not do so, hope that Harvard wins it  --perhaps a quite unpleasant and shocking thought for their faithful!

They aren't in awful shape in the PairWise, ranking #6 both there and in the RPI. The two teams sitting behind them, Connecticut and Northeastern, meet this weekend, so one of them won't be in any position to gain ground. Given #2 seed Clarkson appears headed for a semi matchup with #3 Harvard, I don't think they'll be rooting for the Crimson quite yet.:D

You're far more knowledgeable about these things than I am. However, it seems to me that there is a reasonable chance that the playoff champions of all three leagues may conceivably be teams not currently ranked above Clarkson. That is especially true for Hockey East and the ECAC. So my thinking was that #6 ranking might not be sufficient if 3 lower ranked teams manage to earn the autobids. Of course, I concede I have no idea how the impact of the playoff game results will further affect rankings up or down from here on in, which is where my logic is possibly faulty.

First of all, I don't think a Clarkson/Harvard matchup is a certainty. SLU could conceivably take Clarkson out early, as Clarkson did not end the year strong. This is a big rivalry and should be closely contested.

However, let's assume Clarkson does eliminate SLU. If Clarkson were to then beat Harvard (or Princeton), only to then lose to Cornell (or someone else) is it not true that they could still fail to advance to NCAAs--assuming that UNH and either UMD/Minn don't win their leagues?

Harvard is the only ECAC team ranked ahead of Clarkson. So, even if Harvard was to beat Clarkson and then went on to win the ECAC, it would not affect Clarkson's chances of advancing too (assuming they remained ranked #6)--no matter who else happens to win the other two leagues.

Obviously, Clarkson fans will want to cheer for Clarkson to win as long as they can, to the league title and beyond. But if they can't claim the ECAC themselves, anyone other than Harvard winning could very well spell trouble for making the Final 8.

Right or wrong?

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

You're right that there is a larger chance than usual of three teams below Clarkson at 6th in the PWR winning their leagues. However, I think there's still a high probability that at least one team out of UMD/Minnesota/UNH/Harvard will win a conference title next week.

Let's say there's a 75% chance UMD or Minnesota win the WCHA, there's a 25% chance UNH wins Hockey East, and a 25% chance Harvard or Clarkson win the ECAC. Then there's only a 14% none of those events happen & Clarkson misses NCAAs. (we can quibble with individual numbers, but that's in the ballpark I think)

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Cheel arena was rocking tonight with a nice win by the lady Knights over SLU. The team looked like their old self today. Five different players scored to lead the Knights to a 5-0 win in the first playoff game. Dahm made a fantastic save in the 3rd to hold onto the shut out (9th of the season).

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Good win today! Nothing like playing the SLU to see who season keeps going! Finally it is Clarkson that keeps playingay to go Knights

Re: Clarkson Golden Knights 2010

Any chance that Clarkson will have an audio or video feed of Friday's game? Our guys will be in Princeton doing the men's playoffs and I don't think we will have anyone in Potsdam on Friday.
