Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Knights get commitment from Gabe Antoni, goalie, Salisbury Prep. Welcome Gabe!

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Looks like we have our first recruit for 2013, according to sources USHR is reporting:

Dave Ferriera has committed to Clarkson for the fall of '13.

Ferriera, a 10/27/93 birthdate from Riverside, NJ who centers Team Comcast's top line, is a speedy, offensively-skilled forward who can score goals.

"He's gotten better and better each of the last three years I've had him," said Team Comcast coach Jared Beach. "I think he'll play on the top two lines at Clarkson when he goes there."

Ferreira, a junior in high school, will head out to the USHL next fall, and play there for two years before heading to Potsdam.

Welcome Dave !!

LET'S GO TECH !!!!!!!!

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

It's the day we've all been waiting for, the puck drops today at 4 vs. Carleton.

The roster came out yesterday including the captains.
1) Surprised to see Freeman not a captain, but sure there is a good reason why.
2) No surprise Boro and DeFazio got it.
3) Little surprised Morley got one but I think he will do a great job
4) Sexton choosing #74 is one of the more random numbers I've seen. Must have a reason for it.

Speaking of numbers, here is an interesting list of best NHL player by number.

If I recall correctly, Morley played out the season with some significant injuries and picked up the reputation as one of the toughest guys on the team.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

I don't follow the knights too much, but as a fan of the team that drafted him, can anyone tell me why Cayer didn't play this weekend? I am guessing that he isn't a top six forward. Thanks in advance.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

He's been hampered by lingering injuries for most of his college career. The last word I heard was that he isn't quite over his injury from late last season and they want to make sure he's 100% before they put him in the lineup. I haven't heard anything official, though. So far he's been pretty disappointing, but last year injuries were absolutely killer - 5 points in 21 games as a draft pick.

He has a lingering elbow injury that has kept him out of theline up. The kid has pro shot, absolute laser, but IMHO, he has struggled with the spped of D1 play. I would expect that he plays this weekend vs Bowling Green.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Tech takes the first of two vs. Bowling Green 4-0 last night at Cheel, real solid defensive game and Karpo gets his first shutout. Looks like Pawlick got a game misconduct for contact to the head, does anyone know if he will be suspended for tonight's game? Have yet to see Zarbo, Cayer or Wilson in the line up this year.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Game Misconduct = done for that game. Game Disqualification = done for that game and the next game. He should be back tonight. Clarkson announcers really made it sound like the penalty should have been on Pizzo and the refs got mixed up so Pawlick got tossed for no reason.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

BGSU takes the 2nd game 3-0. Bentley comes to the Cheel next week. Really hoping Tech plays consistent for a whole weekend.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Well we have yet to score a powerplay goal this year and unless we figure that out real quick, it is going to be a long year.

LET'S GO TECH !!!

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Clarkson's still 0-fer on the power play, but we have looked good in four out of five games. General consensus is the shutout loss to Bowling Green was somewhat flukey - according to Coach Roll after tape review we missed about 25 grade A chances in that game. Team looked great against Bentley last night, and put up 53 shots. I don't know exactly when the last time we put up 50+ shots was, but I'm betting probably at least three years ago. Interesting stat of the season so far: Clarkson has 15 goals this year, and 14 different goal-scorers. Production is coming from everywhere right now and that in my mind makes us a dangerous team. Any line can get hot for a game and hurt you.

Roll did that sort of thing when he coached D III Oswego. He could roll (no pun intended) out the lines and the goals would come from everywhere. My niece is going to Lake Placid for the game against SLU. (lucky girl) I hope Tech can make a good showing up there.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

I think it is a good sign that we now feel that ties are like losses. The past two years, ties were wins, I would have been happy with a tie against the Jamaican Jr. National team the past two years. Things are starting to turn for the better for this program.

My thoughts so far...
1) How can you not be impressed with the freshman class, so far they have 6 goals and 13 assists which is 40% of our scoring.
2) I love the "fight for your playing time" methodology. Roll hasn't been afraid to take some older more experienced players out of the line-up so far.(Tremblay,Touhimaa) So far it sounds like all the players are on the same page and are in it to win it, let's hope it stays that way and the players that aren't getting much time will not get discouraged.
3) I like sticking with one goalie. Karp has been very good in my opinion and not having to split time should let him get in a good rhythm.
4) I do wish more fans were coming out. I don't want to sound like David Price and Evan Longoria, but this team is scoring goals, making plays and WINNING GAMES! Hopefully more fans will be coming to Cheel once league play starts.

Also this morning on SportsCenter, while doing the Blue Jackets highlight, John Buccigross mentioned that Clarkson alum, Chris Clark's father is his mailman.

Re: Clarkson 2010-2011 Thread: The Dark Knight

Question for Clarkson fans - is Mike Garlasco hurt or has he been a healthy scratch? Just curious, our family is from the same town as his and we're hoping to see him succeed! It seemed like he had some initial success when he played in October.
