That's a good analogy for Frattin's hit.

Thanks for the stern talking-to, Dad, but I really don't need to hear your uninformed opinion about my character and maturity on a hockey message board.

As I've posted several times (try reading next time), I don't disagree with the major penalty or the suspension; but I also don't believe it was a particularly vicious hit that Frattin made with any intent to injure Wehrs. And I'm not relishing in the result, despite the fact that I think Wehrs was asking for someone to light him up all weekend. You can disagree with that and make your own comments...perhaps you may even be able to do that without attacking me personally.

I agree.

Especially when Sioux fans are personally informing the entire college hockey world of their character and maturity on the many threads like this one for the entire college hockey universe to read.

Interestingly, he mentions Robby Bina. I don't recall Sue fans defending Geoff Paukovich for Bina's obvious lack of stuational awareness.

No, it was a vicious hit and so the suspension...son. When you make a statement like "[Wehrs] probably had it coming" and we are talking about the serious ramifications of a concussion on a student athlete (no matter what team a player is on), that's malicious and that's the type of mentality and behavior the league doesn't want. That's also where I draw the line on the lack of character and maturity in your case.

In your opinion it was a vicious hit. Can you separate your view from the views of others, or are you right because you said it? :rolleyes:

There are a number of varying opinions about the severity of the hit itself, as opposed to the resulting injury. It's unfortunate that Wehrs had to leave the game, but the fact he did doesn't automatically make Frattin's actions malicious. If instead he had gotten up and kept skating, would you be saying the check was dirty/cheap/vicious?

And has it even been confirmed that Wehrs suffered a head injury of any kind? I've heard he has a shoulder injury and that's it.

1. The hit was a charge.
2. The hit was to the head.
3. The player left his feet.
4. The player was suspended for a game with no prior bad acts on his record AND after having not been ejected from the game.

But, the hit wasn't vicious. Only ******* who play girl games get knocked out of games after hits like that. Especially ******* who can't keep their head up.

Like I said. Too funny.

I think most posters on here and the league agree it was a vicious hit. Even if Wehrs somehow skated off it doesn't change the fact that it was measured and vicious deserving of the suspension.

Here's the report on Kevin Wehrs:

Kevin Wehrs has a mild concusssion, his dad Dan said, adding that his son was feeling dizzy on Monday with any exertion.

Wehrs was knocked silly by a high hit by Frattin early in the second period of North Dakota's 4-1 victory over the Gophers.

Dan Wehrs said he was sitting with other Minnesota parents on the same end of the rink where the hit happened. "I was glad when they got him up," Dan Wehrs said.

Kevin Wehrs was helped off the ice after lying there pretty motionless while everyone around him was fighting.

He rode home on the bus with his teammates. The bus got back to the U of M campus at 4 a.m. Must have been quite the ride back after a loss that ended the Gophers' season.

By the way, Wehrs is 5-9, 175; Frattin is 6-0, 200.

Here is the WCHA release on the suspension:

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today (March 15, 2010) announced a one-game suspension to University of North Dakota hockey player Matt Frattin as a result of his actions in the March 13 game vs the University of Minnesota.

Is this supposed hatred any more influential than your love for the Sioux? And to be sure there is no love lost for the Minnesota Gophers amongst the WCHA and college hockey world, so something tells me no non-Gophers fans aren't chomping at the bit to rip a UND player on behalf of UM. ;)

Even more than that, I've said a hundred times over I don't hate any sports program, I don't think Frattin is evil and that a 1-game suspension is probably sufficient. However, I'm buying that the entire act of lining up of and teeing off on Wehrs, nor the subsequent leap through the air, was accidental or within the proper the rules of the game.
