CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

RMU @ NU (1): NU => Just for kicks and grins... and because most everyone else is going the other way.

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Ok....I pick either NU or RMU will win tonight.

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Someone's gotten too used to putting "L"s up on the UAH website. ;) The two "L"s that are currently up for the weekend need to be changed to "W"s. ...
They still need to be changed. I don't have Jamie's e-mail address at my current location, so would someone nudge him?

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

So, if my math is correct, BSU's magic number is three points. Robert Morris and Alabama-Huntsville would need to win out to get to 23 points, Niagara winning out would get them to 22. BSU currently sits at 20 points, so any combination of three points in BSU's favor over RMU and UAH gets them a tie for the title, any combination of four points gets them the title outright.

I think you're right. But I'd say that the other three teams haven't been thinking about a reg season conference champoinship since maybe back in late Nov/early Dec, maybe even earlier.

2nd place will be a dogfight. UAH and Niagara have two games in hand each on RMU, but RMU has at least a 4 point advantage over both of them. Basically every game between the three schools will be a 4 point swing pretty much.

If my math was right, I had RMU's "Not-Dead-Last/Don't-have-to-play-BSU-until-the-tourney-final" magic number stood at 18 over both Niagara and UAH, heading into last night.

So that would make the math 16 points to finish ahead of NU and 17 to finish ahead of UAH. With two games against each remaining.

At this point, I don't care who the boys play in the tournament. Going to have to beat BSU to get anywhere at some point. And the other three teams are matched so close, you could fit a sheet of paper between them.

from insidecollegehockey.com

HIDDEN HOBEY
Dan Bakala, Bemidji State: Heading into this season, Dan Bakala’s job description would’ve looked something like this: Replace veteran goalie who led team to conference championship, two wins at the NCAA Midwest Regional, and the school’s first-ever Frozen Four, then signed an NHL contract at the conclusion of the season. Similar (or better) results expected in 2009-10.

Through 26 games, Bakala has fulfilled his duties. In addition to his 15-4-2 record, which includes three shutouts, the Calgary native enters the weekend ranked eighth in goals against average (2.10) and seventh in save percentage (.926). More important, he’s helped the Beavers maintain a top-10 ranking in the national polls for the majority of the season and has Bemidji State fans thinking of a return trip to the Frozen Four.

This week's prognostication...

No CHA team loses!!! ...or wins.
