CCHA v2.9.1 - BGSU BSU FSU LSSU MSU MTU NMU UST & Special Guests - The Augie Vikings

Yikes. Should make for an interesting CCHA conference call tomorrow. Paging TalonsUpPuckDown...

I'm here.

It's not good. In fact, it's bad.

Two years ago a fraternity pledge died in a hazing incident. The BG president and administration take this stuff seriously. Eigner likely won't survive. Doubtful the three kids on suspension survive. You know about Swankler. We're looking at a reset of the program with a complete house cleaning forthcoming. Further details will emerge, but I'm hoping we still play this season.

I did not have "BG Program Becomes Dumpster Fire Inside of Train Wreck!" on my CCHA season bingo card.

Sad situation. The CCHA could really use a strong BG program, and that sounds like it will be challenging in the short term. Swankler's situation will be one to keep an eye on - that was a pretty big waiver he got to play in the first place, I don't know if that would transfer to another school with no hurdles or not. Plus if he is eligible, when would that be - immediately or at the semester break?

I'm told that Don Lucia will be addressing this off the top in the CCHA Virtual Media Day event tomorrow to try and head it off at the pass, but I seriously doubt that the media will be happy with just that and leave it alone.

I made it through all the media day calls. The one that sticks out is Ferris coach seemed baffled that his team was picked 7th. Said they are better than that. This staff just does not get it

For everyone who had St. Thomas rated as a second division team I would like to point out that last night St. Thomas defeated St. Cloud. They have a good team and either the NCHC is suddenly weak or St Thomas is now the fav in the CCHA.

The Tommies made huge strides between their first year and last year. They will surprise a lot of teams this year.

It's extremely obvious that Dan Rubin and cohorts rarely watch any CCHA hockey.

Considering that there has been only ONE Frozen Four ever with even THREE eastern teams, it's high level stupidity to pick all four to be eastern schools this year. They said it themselves right in the piece, if you didn't think there was eastern bias before...

But BU and BC have a lot of NHL prospects this year! (And every other year)

I was looking at dates for stuff to map out my 2024 Time Off plans and I saw that the CCHA Championship game is listed on the CCHA Website as Friday March 22. No way they moved the title game to a Friday night, right?

Ferris that is funny.. I cannot believe WMU goalie let in 4 goals, heard a few were weak. should be different tonight as Rowe will be solid and Ferris has no threat. MSU played good, AF had a lot going their way and they were flying and battling, really good game to watch

I am a huge Ty fan and excited to see him back. Strong and respected coach who did not deserve to get treated like that by a kid he gave a chance at the NCAA level. Everybody new kid was good enough however Ty did a lot of behind the scenes action to make the NCCA status happen. No coach deserves to be thrown under the bus. Kudos and welcome back Ty

Wait, why should I be happy *if* (and I've heard otherwise, that Swankler's NCAA status was decided *before* BG began recruiting him) Eigner worked to get a Major Jr kid eligible? Not to mention, it's well known that the NCAA has acknowledged allowing him eligibility was a mistake. Literally every CCHA fan not in Ohio or now Houghton hates that he "slipped through."

Ty did nothing to get the kid eligible. Kid applied to the NCAA Clearinghouse and was approved (most likely because he did not play during the 20-21 season). Kid contacted BG after NCAA clearance to see if they had a spot for him. Assistant coach at Erie at that time was a BG alum, which is the only connection to BG.
