CC @ MN: More Nails in the Gophers' Coffin

Re: CC @ MN: More Nails in the Gophers' Coffin

That wasn't the case when Lucia's Tigers owned the Gophers.
I still remember when they came to Minneapolis in the fall of '98 (I think it was '98) and beat MN by a combined score of 14-2 or something like that.

Re: CC @ MN: More Nails in the Gophers' Coffin

The entire Colorado College program should hang their head in shame. Giving up three goals to this team? Getting shut-out?

Vitals are still strong, but still not ready to unhook the IV.

Crap. Now they're going to get our hopes up again. **** Viki...Gophers.

I think the less we expect out of them..... the better they play :( But I was right when I said they would win at least 2 points this weekend..... :)

Actually the ball and chain for CC lately, much like the Gophers, has been inconsistency. So their loss isn't that surprising. CC can score goals though and with home ice at stake with CC@UND next weekend, I think we'll see much more out of them tomorrow night (oops forgot...afternoon game).

Although he wasn't tested much, nice to see Kangas get his first shutout of the season for the Gophers.:)

IMO, tonights game is by far the best they have played all year. I am not holding my breath but it is nice to see a little decent hockey from the Gophers.

Re: CC @ MN: More Nails in the Gophers' Coffin

I hope the coaches can "encourage" them to play today at 3:00pm like they did last night. They were battling for loose pucks forechecking effectively and actually playing D in front of Kangas which was nice to see for a change.

The negative Nancies are even more surly after a win. Go figure.

All I know is, I get to shave my Gophers Win beard today! Finally! (Haven't shaved since their last win)

And, if they win today, my tArrogance Card comes off of self-imposed suspension! :D

Anyone know if Patterson is starting today? I read recently Lucia wants to give him more starts.

He's been saying that all year, and given Kangas Khan's shutout last night, I bet we don't see St Pat tonight.

Re: CC @ MN: More Nails in the Gophers' Coffin

I wouldn't go that far. If they win 6 in a row I might start to believe that they could make someone miserable in the playoffs.

Oh come on Scoobs, if they win 6 in a row they will be back around that PWR bubble. I think if they win today and go 3-1 over the next 4 I will have a bit of hope. That said, I really don't see it happening. But ya never know.

I thought they played well in front of Kangas yesterday, and were able to find the back of the net a few times. Pretty simple. Other than that the performance didn't look much different from most of their games this season.
Getting that goal in the first period was huge. It is the first lead they have had since UND, and the game gets so much easier when you have the lead.

Josh Birkholz's goal was sick. That's the kind of thing this team has been missing most of all this year. Those great goal-scoring plays have been almost totally non-existent this season.
