CC/DU vs. Mercyhurst & Air Force

Re: CC/DU vs. Mercyhurst & Air Force

On Saturday, I really hope DU doesn't embarrass the WCHA by losing to Air Force. The #2 team should be the Falcons by at least 4 or 5 goals. Anything less will be shocking.

Blowout wins have been far and few between for Denver this year - the Pios tend to win with good goaltending and enough timely scoring to win games. The largest road margin of victory for Denver this year is three goals. Playing in Air Force's barn, I think the game will be very close - 1 or 2 goal margin.

I think it'll be interesting to see who CC puts in goal over the weekend... I have a feeling it won't just be Howe, though maybe he needs some easier games to get his confidence back up.

Howe started out like Bachman did as a Freshman , but appears to have a bit of the sophomore slump a little early.
Who backs up Howe?

As usual, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if AFA beats one or both of us. I have seen them about a half dozen times this year, and AFA isn't as good as they have been over the past few seasons. However, they are still very fast, skilled, and dangerous. Of course they also work hard (as we expect from them). Watch Matt Fairchild, in particular, on SH opportunities. Also, we all know Volkening can steal games.

24-year veteran of your United States Air Force, however on this day it is all about Colorado College. Time to go tailgate, and go Tigers!! Beat Army (I mean Air Force).

We just got a new kid, Michael Shibrowski, over the winter break. He's gotten action in one game so far. Then there's junior Tyler O'Brien who got his first college career win this year. They can both hold their own, from what I've seen.

Howe is still the clear starter, just wish he could get back up to his potential.

Re: CC/DU vs. Mercyhurst & Air Force

No surprises tonight (except at Winter Carnival in Houghten). The Lakers were unimpressive--they were missing two of their four goal scorers. The score should of been 6 or 7-1. DU had close to 50 shots. Murrary looked much improved. DU's PP looked lose in the first and then people were forcing things in the 2nd and 3rd. I saw some selfish play which was frustrating to watch. DU will have to step it up to win tomorrow night. AM is the one guy that is really clicking--two assists and a goal--very unselfish player. Salazar gets the game winner--he had a big smile on his face later in the game.

I'm looking forward to heading south for tomorrow night's game.

Gwoz - Adam was the best player out there tonight, very pleased with how he has improved and this will be a great confidence boost for him. Ready for a war tomorrow night against AF. Knows that they will hit any DU player as soon as they touch the puck. They ran DU out of their building two years ago and he benched many of the now seniors for the last 30 minutes of that game. They remember it well and want to get at least one win at AF during their careers. It is going to be loud and AF will play a very physical game, much moreso than tonight's game against MC.

Howe is back. He got a shutout tonight and made some incredible saves. In the 3rd period Howe stopped a breakaway shot with an amazing sprawling save. It was a fun game to watch and the atmosphere inside the World Arena was great. The Falcon fans are FAR better than DU fans when both teams play at the World Arena.

DU will have their hands full tomorrow night with the Falcons. Good luck to the Falcons and GO TIGERS!

Hard to call what took place tonight a hockey game. DU looked into and lose in the first and then selfish play took over. Hope the boys can make the adjustment.

DU never gets more than about 100 people to bare the hardship of sitting in that cement toilet bowl down there. I'm sure it's easier for the AF faithful to make the drive. Howe faced 20 shots tonight and not too many more than that last Saturday. If CC is to make it to the tourney he has to stay dialed in completely. After tomorrow's scrimmage CC has 6 tough games and to stay a TUC they really need to take 4/6. Not an easy task.
