'Cats Rule & Dogs Drool (I Hope): UNH, home & home with Northeastern, 2/25 - 26

Re: 'Cats Rule & Dogs Drool (I Hope): UNH, home & home with Northeastern, 2/25 - 26

It would have tied it at 3-3, it was in the opening minutes of the 3rd, and the insurance goal was mid way, that was super frustrating!

Ok, thought it would have brought it to within a goal, but that makes it even more excruciating. Shows how hockey fortunes can change on a dime...

Re: 'Cats Rule & Dogs Drool (I Hope): UNH, home & home with Northeastern, 2/25 - 26

I could not agree with you more. I was baffled. Late in the game, a UNH player (can't remember who) clearly tripped somebody, who was rushing with the puck, and it wasn't called. Inconsistent reffing is the worst, and I didn't blame NU fans for being upset with that.

1: I'll take his 'diving' over Eibler's idiocy any day. Seriously, slashing a player when waiting for a faceoff? I would have thrown his *** OUT -- and had a UNH player had done that, I'd say the same thing. 2: The NHL does a pretty good job of policing that kind of crap, so if DeSimone makes it to pro and actually is a 'diver' (and not just a skater who overcommits to a move and falls more than some, imo), he'll get what's his.

You'll get no qualms from me about Eibler's moronic play last night. When he took that penalty I was fuming in the Dog House. He allowed himself to get Sean Avery'd all night. Good learning experience if nothing else. I'm sure he got an ear full and then some at intermission.

If it were Thompson shooting, it would have gone in ;) (both of his goals clanged off the post and into the net.)

Only if Rawlings was there to show his horribly inconsistent technical positioning. Thompson's first goal at least was an absolute gift. He was shooting from a sharp angle, was cut off from the middle by a defenseman and Rawlings actually let him get space between the post and his glove. I was 10 feet from it, it was shameful, our goalie coach was P.O.'d. Rawlings is great when he's on but he's inconsistent. I hope he's on come HE Tournament time....obviously.

Re. Cody Ferriero.. beginning of season skated very undisciplined. Cost us a few gms with untimely penalties. Was even benched by the coach for a gm/gms.

Even though his stats don't show it now.. he is skating smarter & playing good hockey across the ice. He is young & has skill. I am sure he will be getting more shots to the net & good things will happen for him, this season & coming seasons. Also, he is surrounded by some pretty darn good skaters. Anyway, his best hockey is ahead of him.

Have you notified SteveF of young Cody's improved play. I'm sure he wants to know.

he got a goal in last night as well. (should have been #10's..regardless, he made it happen)

. He allowed himself to get Sean Avery'd all night.

Can you translate that please? Does that mean he was someone's sloppy seconds?

Haha, whatever you say. With a kid like your number 20 running around playing like freddy meyer (minus the skills) Friday night, it was hilarious to see him cost the huskies a good chance at a comeback putting them down 2 men for 2 full minutes.

#20 is Luke Eibler. Remember the name. You'll wish UNH had recruited him before he's done. He's got the skills, but lacks the maturity he'll develop in the next few years.

Before you get too high over the win, take note of the fact that #16 Henrion's stupid penalty with 3 minutes left in friday's game might have cost UNH the point. His flagrant check, which injured our lone senior D, Mike Hewkin, should have been a five minute major. The ref simply lacked to plums to call it in front of the big home crowd. What do you think of the idea that a player who injures another while committing a penalty, should be suspended for as many games as the injured player misses? Not too much, I'll bet if it's your player who committed the offense!

As a result you played an NU team that fielded four freshman Ds including one large walkon with about 10 minutes of varsity experience. The other two are sophomores, one of whom had never played a minute of defense in his life prior to January of this year. Compare them with your high powered offense and your permanent experienced starting six on defense. You should be embarrassed that it took your team more than two and a half games - and a gift goal for Thompson - before you ever managed as much as a two goal lead against us, and that you needed three games to finally beat us.

The Diehard Dogs and other Husky fans wish you one win against bc next weekend as we'd love another shot at you in the Garden rather than in the quarters.

The TV replay showed that it was Cody's goal. Quails never touched it. Funny thing is that Cody scored our first goal of the year and spent the rest of the season trying to blast the puck through other goalies. When finally scores it's on kind of a finesse move.
He's shown a lot of improvement. He's learning.

At least Henrion was called a penalty (it was a stupid play, I didn't see it as a major), when Keebler cross checked Goumas in the face shortly after his leg check, if Henrion's should have been a major, that should have been a major and wasn't even called. I really had no sympathy for Henrion not getting a major.

You guys getting at least one point against BU will assure you don't have to come up to Durham and get swept, so you don't have to wish us a win against BC, thanks though.

The kid's name is Eibler (pronounced EYE-blur). Goomas is talented, but chippy and might have deserved the influence he got - or they may have something left over from the USHL last year.
We'll take care of the point vs. ratdog u. Don't bother trying to beat bc. Save your energy for the quarters.

Goumas is chippy? Granted, I've only seen a handful (10-12) of games this year in person (and more online), I've never seen, or heard anyone talk of him like that. Either way, what Eibler did was inexcuseable on Friday night, and it was just that he was the one that put the Huskies down 5 on 3 for 2 minutes allowing UNH to open up the lead a bit...

You should drink more Keystone Light, to avoid showing your bitter beer face so blatantly.
I don't think HE teams could forget Eibler already.. if his shiesty play in this series is anything close to his norm.

Anyways, good luck to NU, I enjoyed talking with some of your fans this weekend. Nice people.. for the most part.

When is spring break for the UNH Students?

The same week as St. Paddy's. Heaven knows what the administration imagines might occur were the students to be on campus that day.

[Spring break is] the same week as St. Paddy's. Heaven knows what the administration imagines might occur were the students to be on campus that day.

UNH spring break is always the weekend after the final regular season through the next weekend. Not saying men's hockey has anythng to do with the academic schedule; just the way it happens. Of course, that means a sparse student section for the HE quarters.

More important, with few exceptions have enjoyed this one-team vs another thread more than any I can remember. Two sets of fans who know their hockey and (with only a few exceptions) respectfully exchange views about this wonderful sport. THANKS.

They scored after the 5 on 3 was over.

Either way, you better tell [De]Simone over there to sack up before someone really gets mad at him and it turns out not to be a dive.
