Re: Cars

And this is why you don't stand near the guardrails at the Nordschleife.

Hope he's in good hands with Allstate!

Re: Cars

Nice to see my Volvo grocery-getter getting some love. :)

I believe these two cars are the archetypes for the Saab and Volvo brands: a hatchback and a wagon, respectively. When most people think "Saab" or "Volvo," these are the models they will likely imagine. (Unless they're weirdos who think of Sonetts or Amazons.)

That's why I'm nominating the Viggen and the V70R as future classics. Both represent the pinnacles of what both brands are best at.

Finally, a day with both the time and weather conditions for a topless cruise. Down 52 to Cannon Falls, east to Red Wing then south trough Lake City, Wabasha, Winona before turning around and heading back to the metro. Must have been Corvette rallies or something...saw a ton of late and early model Corvettes everywhere. Also spotted, a Testarossa, A Ferrari 308 GTB, 360 Modena and the rarest of rare...the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. The OM Weinermobile was at a Lake City grocery store then headed south on 61.

It was the perfect day. Drove up from 'Tonka to Coon Rapids with the top dropped. Absolutely gorgeous out.

Re: Cars

Completely forgot about this thread. On Friday, at lunch, I saw a beautiful pearl maroon Lotus Elise. What a gorgeous car.

Re: Cars

Road and Track and Bonham's auctions are selling off a 72 Lancia Stratos barn find. The entire car would need rebuilding, though the body seems in good shape and would need relatively less than the interior. I remember these cars in Hemmings selling for about 15000 and begging for buyers not all that long ago. Now they are saying it will bring 250,000 to 350,000, and thats Before restoration.

I can tell you it would be a blast to drive! but with that kind of money in it, would you?

Re: Cars

I came across a red Honda NSX (Honda badge, not an Acura) yesterday. They're bigger in person than I ever imagined. Beautiful piece of machinery.

Re: Cars

So back in July, VW sent me a postcard saying they were looking to pay premium trade in values for 2011 VW Tiguan's, which I own. Offer was good through the end of the month however, and my work schedule kept me from receiving it until August.

Fast forward, shortly after that, I started kicking the tires with my local VW dealer about the offer, and the possibility of trading my Tiguan in for a 2013 Touareg TDI. This is more of an SUV (mine is a crossover, essentially on the Passat/GTI chassis), and I kinda need to increase my towing capacity anyways with the boat shopping I plan to do soon. Well, I just got a letter in the mail from I'm guessing the Southeast district manager or somebody saying he is willing to increase his TIV offer to up to $26,500. I financed mine for $32,000, and still owe 18-19k on it. So if I can get somewhere north of 20k trade in, I will probably pull the trigger and upgrade.

Re: Cars

I'm pretty excited about my new car. I just ordered a BMW 328i Sports Wagon...should be shipping from Germany in a few weeks! We just had our 2nd kid, so needed a bit more room, but didn't want to go down the minivan route. Plus, it still is a blast to drive (at least in the sedan versions that I test drove)!
