Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Kasich as the compromise candidate in a multi ballot convention.

And Dick weighs in on the Roverites
@dick_nixon: A .003 percent lead with a cabinet post and the full backing of the Democratic National Committee is an abomination.

Apparently Hillary won a precinct on a coin flip because it was tied. That could potentially be the difference.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

OH man, gawker is in flames this morning over the coin flips. My god they have their panties all twisted over this.

I don't see the big deal. Nor do I see the big deal about how Iowa caucuses are run. You would think that FIFA was running this election based on the poutrage. Personally, I like the idea of a caucus over a primary.

Not only that, but O'Malley and Bernie were splitting the liberals while she had the centrists to herself.

I just want you all to picture a Hillary-Cruz election. They may be the two least liked people to ever run for president. Hillary makes Nixon look cuddly while Cruz makes Manuel Romasanta look wholesome.

I live in a caucus state and it is a pain in the ***. I wasn't enrolled in a political party until 2008, so I couldn't caucus (although I voted D, Gore and Kerry, in the first two elections I was old enough to vote in). In 2008 I joined the Democrat Party to caucus for Obama (my wife did as well), and we ended up being the difference makers in our precinct. Instead of taking 10 minutes to vote in a primary you get to spend a couple hours at the caucus.

I'm still predicting Rubio vs Clinton in the general. I think we're starting to see the end of the Trump phenomenon and Cruz is too hated -I wouldn't put too much on his Iowa win.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

All I'm saying is if you found out that Cruz dines on human flesh, you'd be surprised, but would you be really surprised?

Rubio is the plantation mansion GOP's best chance to take control back from their feculent sharecroppers. If there's anything left of the old boy network at the RNC they need to have a Come to Reagan meeting after which Christie, Kasich, Jeb, and Fiorina all quit.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Rubio is by far the least terrifying of the 3 GOP possibilities.

Of course, that's relative.

Question becomes, does Trump go independent?

If he does he was a Hillary mole all along, as that might actually give her all 50 states. Yeah, even Mississippi.

Rubio's not terrifying, he's just the pretty, blank-faced greeter who fronts for the evil multinational corporation in the background. He's the Red Queen, the GOP is the Umbrella Corporation, and voodoo economics is the t-virus.

It's not the Red Queen's fault what it is -- in another life it would have been a perfectly benign TV game show host -- but we still have to kill it in order to thwart the Bio Weapons Division and eliminate their zombies.

I disagree on Rubio. Rubio is the closest this race has to GW Bush. If he wins and gets the wrong guy pulling his strings were back to the worst Presidency in our nations history again.

Iowa is extreme on both sides. Extreme conservative and extreme liberal. Surprised Hillary tied. Not surprised Calgary Ted won. I hope he goes all the way cause the lawsuit is going to be damm entertaining.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

The Rover Report: Iowa Style.

Before I get to the Dems, this Rubio flogging is pathetic. The guy finished 3rd even with candidates 1-2 and 4 (Cruz, Trump, Carson) splitting the Nutter vote. Yet he's the frontrunner? Once Carson exits the race his votes are going to Calgary Ted who's done what he needed to do - consolidate evangelicals. Trump on the other hand had a pretty good showing for a state who's voters he called a bunch of losers. If he buries it in New Hampshire, and Cruz finishes 2nd, there is no path for Rubio. Its either Trump or Cruz.

For the Dems, nice win by Hillary. Not a blowout but that was never in the cards, but she won a state she lost last time, which means she has in fact won over the Obama voters. Sanders needs to get a handle on his supporters, who are going to alienate people who aren't either in college or already on board with his campaign. Booing a rival candidate's speech is poor sportsmanship no matter what party or ideology you represent. Its the kind of thing you'd expect Trump voters to do.

Lastly, happy that Dem turnout was about the same as the GOP. Dems are having a sorta low key contest while GOP is a car crash with a celebrity candidate. That bodes well for the party.

I assume when we don't hear the whistling anymore, we'll know you're past the graveyard?

Good piece, summing up a particular worldview. Give Pat credit, he has been peddling the same message for 25 years now. I wonder if it is irksome to him that the guy tasked with actually bringing it into the light is a circus clown? You would think a Jesuit would detest Trump's anti-intellectualism, but what can he expect from the mob?

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

That makes no sense. If this becomes a three-way, right about the time the primaries become winner take all, then Rubio has his perfect scenario. The thing he has to be careful of is a centrist flirtation with Kasich or Jeb simply going house to house and bribing every voter with $20k.

For the Dems, nice win by Hillary.

Really? She winds up in a dead heat in a state where she camped out for 10 years and had Bernie's staff outnumbered 3:1. Meanwhile Bernie raised more money in December than Hillary did in Q4. And that's a "nice win," eh? I guess Martin O'Malley had a "near-miss" then.

The old girl is leaking oil and her shocks are shot. She's up on the jacks every night getting re-lubed just to get her through another day. She's wheezing and coughing and one of these frozen mornings she may not start at all.

(In all honesty I worry about the health of both Hillary and Bernie. Running for president is an ultra-marathon where spectators line the road throwing axes at you. It can't be good on a 70-year old pump; it's hard enough for a 50-year old to do. Granted, Bernie is running on ideological jet fuel and Hillary simply burns her entitlement and resentment, both of which are limitless renewable resources, but at any moment catastrophic mechanical failure is a possibility. Hope Julian has his crap-resistant pants ready to.)
