Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

That makes no sense. If this becomes a three-way, right about the time the primaries become winner take all, then Rubio has his perfect scenario. The thing he has to be careful of is a centrist flirtation with Kasich or Jeb simply going house to house and bribing every voter with $20k.

Really? She winds up in a dead heat in a state where she camped out for 10 years and had Bernie's staff outnumbered 3:1. Meanwhile Bernie raised more money in December than Hillary did in Q4. And that's a "nice win," eh? I guess Martin O'Malley had a "near-miss" then.

The old girl is leaking oil and her shocks are shot. She's up on the jacks every night getting re-lubed just to get her through another day. She's wheezing and coughing and one of these frozen mornings she may not start at all.

You really don't get Iowa. Iowa is very very different. The liberals there make the liberals in New York look like Reagan Democrats.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Kep does this mean you're finally giving up on Jebbers! :D

Regarding Sanders, its long past time for his supporters to give up the tired old nonsense of him being a total unknown running a shoestring campaign. He announced for President in April for chrissakes. That's 10 months ago. He's well funded and good for him. Simply put, he lost a race fair and square that he thought he had the momentum in. What part of, the person who finished with the most delegates wins, are you struggling with?

There's a chance it ends in a tie 22-22.

Not much of one, but for the record she's up 28-21 with 3 left to be allocated (although the outstanding county with 2 of the delegates was won by Hillary). However, if he does achieve parity with the delegates somehow, that's a tie. As it stands right now, he lost. I'm not sure why its so hard for some of you to wrap your minds around that. A loss is a loss. I may have wanted the Patriots to win vs Denver in the AFC championship, but no amount of spinning by me is going to overcome the 2 point deficit and get them into the Super Bowl.

I get that, but the Dems are still only 50% liberal. Hillary had all the advantages but was completely unable to make any inroads into that bloc. And she had women trying to gender-shame liberal women into supporting her.

Bernie didn't win anything either, he made zero inroads into the moderate half. But to call this a "win" for either is laughable -- all this did was make NH the first real contest, and Bernie is going to blow Hillary away there for various reasons. Hillary suddenly really needs to win SC by about as much as Bernie wins NH.

Nope. The Bushes are a classic slasher movie. You never turn your back on the corpse because you know it's getting back up. Jeb! has so much money he can hang in until June if he wants, and the clown car is so explosive he could conceivably go into the convention at 2% with every candidate ahead of him eliminated due to citizenship (Cruz), insanity (Trump), illicit drug trade using pre-teens as payment (Rubio), or murder (Carson -- it's always the quiet ones.)

Ooookaayyyyy then. I think we're done here. :D I don't know what they've been handing out at those Bernie rallies, but from this post I think its a little more potent than pot. ;)

BTW - Megyn Kelly called and said you need to give it up over Jebbers! Does that help?

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Did anyone else get disturbed watching Steve King behind Cruz during the victory speech?

A good but poorly understood point. I read that Sanders has taken on Cornell West to help him campaign in Iowa under the guise that the President hasn't been liberal enough. I'm not sure a rabidly anti-Obama messenger and message is going to fly in the Democratic primaries, particularly in states that aren't 95% white, but time will tell.

Megyn doesn't call me. She uses a hammer and sickle signal on her roof.

Cornell West ... a rabidly anti-Obama messenger

Oh please.

West has criticisms of Obama that are about at the level of mine. He is in no way "rabid," he just has the temerity of being black and not lock-step with him.

You bludgeon the other segments of the Democratic party at your peril, Rove. You are spinning on behalf of a candidate who is perceived as entitled, arrogant, and living in a bubble of privilege. You are merely magnifying all her weaknesses by telling people to be at the coronation or be d-mned.

If you're saying stuff like this Kep, you've got problems:

CORNEL WEST: You can't talk about wealth and inequality, you can't talk about education, you can't talk about massive unemployment and under employment and you can't talk about drones being dropped on people in other parts of the world without talking about white supremacy and its ways in which it operates. It doesn't have to be overt. The president is right about that.

But too many black people are ni**erized. I would say the first black president has become the first ni**erized black president.

During a November 2012 interview with Democracy Now, West branded Obama “a Republican, a Rockefeller Republican in blackface.” Then there was that May 2011 interview with Truthdig where West called the nation’s first African American president “a black mascot of Wall Street oligarchs and a black puppet of corporate plutocrats.” In that same sitdown, West talked about his 2010 run-in with the president. “I wanted to slap him on the side of his head,” West said, who took his significant policy disagreements with the president down an ugly path zealously cut by birthers.

“I think my dear brother Barack Obama has a certain fear of free black men,” West said. “It’s understandable. As a young brother who grows up in a white context, brilliant African father, he’s always had to fear being a white man with black skin. All he has known culturally is white … When he meets an independent black brother, it is frightening.”

“Obama, coming out of Kansas influence, white, loving grandparents, coming out of Hawaii and Indonesia, when he meets these independent black folk who have a history of slavery, Jim Crow, Jane Crow and so on, he is very apprehensive,” West said. “He has a certain rootlessness, a deracination. It is understandable.”

If not HRC, who? As much as Bernie is interesting (as Trump is interesting), the legislative program is DOA unless the public elects delegates from the Comintern.

Beats me but you can now expect significant backlash after your blasphemous comments about St Bernie! Don't you know he almost tied last night? Just like the Pats almost tied Denver last week, so now I look forward to watching them play Carolina in the SB. ;)

I read this comment somewhere, so hopefully I get spared the lightening bolts from above, but its been speculated that the college students attending Bernie rallies believe he has the power to decree free college tuition as soon as he's elected. Hence their enthusiasm for him (along with the free marijuana). That fundamental misunderstanding of how government functions, if true or partly true, might explain why your question isn't being taken into consideration.

What's your infatuation with Bernie and MJ? Do you actually think it's bad?

As for NH, I just hope Bernie can hold off a late surge from Vermin Supreme.

I'm speculating Mary Jane is how he attracts those crowds of his. Have you ever been to Burlington, VT? Lets just say the sun hasn't been able to shine through the haze wafting over the city since sometime in the mid 1960's! :D

Personally I smoke nothing, be it cigs, cigars, or weed. As I don't like the smell of any of it, feel free to do those things on your own time but not around me just like I can't chug a beer while walking down the street or riding the subway.

Sadly, yes, and that's why eventually we will almost certainly nominate Hillary, and that is also why it's important for moderates and liberals to make kissy-kissy this summer and fall.

Liberals need to do what the far right did: create think tanks, co-opt media outlets, and build a grassroots farm team of candidates. But Bernie being nominated (and elected) would be of tremendous symbolic value, plus, at the very least he'd be able to get through whatever compromise measures Hillary would -- nothing would be lost.

The Democratic repudiation of liberalism really hurt the nation and led us to this proto-Feudal economic and political system we suffer under, and the re-embrace of an evolved liberalism, appropriate to our new circumstances, will restore the country. Bernie can advocate for and normalize concerns about wealth inequality and the systemic abuse and erosion of democracy under plutocracy. The bully pulpit would help that process. We are far too used to cowering and crying "not in the face" when faced with angry orcs, and it is time we started to inject a little courage into our pragmatism.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Does Cruz even have a chance at 2nd in New Hampster?

Yes, he does. Maybe. We'll see if estashblishmentism has any traction left there though. If they want to stop Cruz they need to have him come in 4th or 5th in NH. A third there and he'll be unstoppable when the SEC gets started. If you want Rubio to go away you need him to get beaten by Trump and one of the governors. Rubio taking 3rd again isn't going to cut it as he's not going to be the first choice down south.

I'd really like Rubio to go away.

How is what Sanders saying any different than what all other political candidates say? They offer up a bunch of pie in the sky b.s. that has literally no chance of ever becoming law, yet people believe it. Your "Rose Law Firm colored glasses" for Hillary cause you to believe Cruz is a shoe in for the nomination because Republican voters will believe his nonsense about repealing Obamacare, but somehow Democratic voters (or at least 50.00000001% of them in Iowa) will see through Bernie's dreams? His "take the money back from the 20 billionaires" argument is going to resonate with a lot of people. You are going to hear that day after day after day.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

His "take the money back from the 20 billionaires" argument is going to resonate with a lot of people. You are going to hear that day after day after day.

Which is fine, but there should also be the deeper substantive message of how this leads to economic growth too, at least for the grad school crowd. It's infuriating to hear the "if you took every dollar from every billionaire it still wouldn't balance the budget" canard repeated by all the lofo voters. The reason that's dumb is more complicated than a bumper sticker, but it's not that complicated, and enough people will get it that it's worth circulating.
