Re: Campaign 2016 - Run-HRC? Honest Injun? Gott Mitt Himmel? RyanRubioCruzCrud?

I think you're being oversensitive about the question. It's always asked, particularly when the presumptive front-runner hasn't even announced yet. Apparently the "things that make you a bad Democrat" have now expanded beyond "not being lockstep behind Hillary" to include "contemplating alternatives should Hillary herself not run.":rolleyes:

Here's a tip for recruiting support for Brigid O'Shaughnessy -- her only serious problem is an aura of arrogance and imperiousness. The strategy you've been employing so far has only accentuated that.

Plus it's laughable to talk about Hillary's disparagers as a Beltway Game, when the biggest Beltway Game of all is the Inevitability Narrative, peddled by both the Clintonistas and the unimaginative old guard pundits. You can claim Hillary is some sort of insurgency against the Old Guard if you want, but that's laughable -- Hillary is so Establishment she farts marble.

Kep my beef is with the idiot newsmedia, not yourself so calm down. You're well on the record for wanting an alternative and while I don't agree with you that's fine. However, these articles in the press aren't meant as idle speculation, most of them have a purpose which is to stir up descent in the Dem base in order to have a "contest". I've got news for you. The media hates the Clintons. Even the lefties in it. All of this is nonsense to try to drum up controvery where there isn't any, which is why the media ranks somewhat below payday lenders and collections agents in terms of popularity.

I'm all for Establishment Clinton as long as it equals President Clinton. I don't give a rat's @ ss how she's labeled. I do find it amusing however that someone described 20 years ago as a Femi-nazi is now the epitome of a DINO. Its downright laughable.

But isn't that the great question? Will Hillary I = Bill III? You're hoping -- I'm not so sure. I wonder if much of the support for Mrs. Clinton is because the masses are looking over her shoulder to her husband. The heck with her, they want him.

Undoubtably. Its like if you really like George W Bush, you'd have assume his brother would govern similarly. For the record I don't think she'd be as good a President as her husband as I don't think she has his negotiating skills. However, I am looking at more or less Bill's 3rd term. That works for me. And if people vote for her on that basis? I'm good with that too.

You state this as if it was the same people making each claim. The people calling Hillary that former term (and in fact the people who use that term) are the mouthbreathers who listen to or perform Hate Radio.

I'm not calling Hillary a DINO -- she represents the DLC wing of the party, which makes up roughly half of the Dem grassroots, 3/4 of the Dem political professionals, and 7/8 of the Dem chattering classes. That's not my portion of the party, but if it wins the nomination I'll support it.

The 24/7 media just want a horserace, so they'll try to create fake tensions to pull Hillary back to the pack during the campaign. But the advocacy pundits from the left are almost all in the tank for Hillary. Matthews et al. are Hillary's ideological enablers and depend for their parasitic access on the goodwill of her people.

You try to pick fights with every other liberal here every day, and I don't know why. Keep your eyes on the prize, son.

Yes. They're the same being. You may as well say that Bill I and II were Hillary I and II. For better and worse.

So on 1/20/17, will the public look @ Hillary and superimpose Bill? Heck, get some creative media wonk to do it live and the nation (at least part of it) will have orgasms.

On a slightly different note, is anyone watching The Royals on E!? Darkly funny.

Kep I'm not trying to toss you out of the party. However, you do seem to be a bit of a whiner. You might want to enjoy the victories we've banked and back the stronger horse next year even if she only gives you 80-90% of what your idea candidate would. Your whole persona is boo hoo hoo I can't find a real Dem who'll raise the tax rate up to 90% but I don't want another lunatic so woe is me I'll vote for candidate xxx with one hand over my nose. Gimme a break already. Instead of lamenting that we're not going to elect Nader President in 2016, take some joy in being able to p! ss on the corpse of whoever the GOP nominates! Call it neo-liberalism with a bloodthirsty twist. :D

You couldn't if you wanted to. You're here by our sufferance, not the other way. :D We invited you in because we kept losing in the 80s. You're here to help us win elections. Just do your job and shuddup.

80-90% is being awfully generous.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Run-HRC? Honest Injun? Gott Mitt Himmel? RyanRubioCruzCrud?

If the intent is to go Bill III on the bit we're effed. Not because it wouldn't be successful if fully realized, but because it couldn't happen in the sense the short-sighted envision. His abilities would never transfer and if I'm Israel, Russia or China you think I give an ounce of respect to such a getup?

Can do the first but not the second. ;)

To that end, check this out! Hillary leading Bush and Rubio...IN FLORIDA. There's only one reason to nominate Bush, and that is to win the absolute must have home state of his, because there's no realistic math that gives a GOP President without winning FLA. Now, I know its early, but Bush is well known in his home state, as is Hillary. How much do you expect these #s to change once campaigning starts?

I expect them to change a lot, and those changes won't matter at all either until September '16.

I'm saying "the numbers don't mean anything until Fall '16'" and you're saying "Oh yeah? Well what about these numbers?!"

None of them mean anything. :p

Jeb and Hillary are going to throw billions into nasty little attack ads to try to depress the other's turnout. That's all* that will matter.

* Unless:

1) One of them does something just insanely stupid, but they've both been living and breathing politics for 40 years so that's very unlikely, or

2) Something bizarre happens in the world a few weeks before the election, which doesn't have anything to do with either of them, but makes one of their narratives an easier sell. A hostage crisis, a depression, a huge natural disaster, First Contact, etc.

One Tough Nerd, anyone? Snyder is a pure CEO, I have no idea, even after two terms as governor, where he stands on social issues but get the feeling he'd rather avoid them completely. He loves tinkering with budgets and seeing both sides of every issue. He is completely un-electable insofar as he lacks a vibrant personality or apparent charisma. But he does have well-disciplined hair and a pleasant smile, so there's that. Kind of a Mitt Romney, now that I think of it.

I'm not aware of every GOP governor out there, but if you asked me who is more interested in governing instead of getting a guest spot on Fox cable, I'd say Snyder and Kasich.

Romney's hair was spectacular, but his smile always looked like he was being forced to shake hands with the poors.

Yet kasich has already been a fox news host.
