Okay. Can someone give me the cliff notes version of why Ted Cruz can run for President, yet everyone said Jennifer Granholm couldn't?
Okay. Can someone give me the cliff notes version of why Ted Cruz can run for President, yet everyone said Jennifer Granholm couldn't?
Because I'd vote for Jenny long before I'd vote Hillary. And I lean Dem.
Because Granholm was in charge of Michigan during one of the worst recessions in state history?
Not that I think Cruz is any better. He's probably going to implode between now and the end of primary season.
Well, Engler set that mess up.![]()
Honestly, maybe it's the fact that I was nine, but Blanchard was the last "good" governor.
I do thank the explanation Flag. I couldn't remember if Jenny had an American parent or not, but knew Cruz's situation was similar (but not identical).
It'll be horrifying to see the continued gong show that'll be the parade of republican candidates until they settle on some corporate talking head who's white and rich enough to unite the base.
Quick summary re: Cruz. I take the message that although on the face of it he seems like an obvious grifter in the mold of a Palin or Gingrich, there is a little more to worry us here -- Cruz has the hallmarks of a guy who is after not the profit from power (Palin) or the trappings of power (Gingrich) but the power itself. What would he do with it if he had it? Literally, god knows -- stripped of the monotonous righty rhetoric, he channels his dad's hardcore Dominionism. Even though our democratic institutions are still strong enough to withstand that, it would be extremely unpleasant to have somebody with that mindset close to the button.
Or perhaps that's the plan all along, and is one of the stones towards creating a full on police state.
Cruz is the real deal and being underestimated at everyone's own peril. He's a true believer, and that's going to shine through in the debates. You can't outrun him to the right. Really, Huckleberry and Santorum might as well go home. Two guys who finished a close second in 2008 and 2012 but died due to lack of funds. Cruz isn't going to have that problem and I wonder who's going to beat him in the geographic base of the party, the South.
Put the Dems aside for a moment. The problem in political pundidiotry now is they're all 60 or 70 year old white males, who think the country is dying for another Bush candidacy.Because the last one turned out so well.
A Hispanic fire breather born in Canada? No way the Republicans nominate him. Not so fast I say. Bush has little rank and file support. He's a country club candidate. If Cruz can knock out Rand Paul in Iowa, have a decent showing in New Hampshire (not really his turf) and then win South Carolina, he's in real good shape. Florida goes to Bush of course, but after that his job is to keep banking wins or close seconds until the Southern dominated Super Tuesday primary.
I think the belief that there is an overarching conspiracy is extremely optimistic. It posits that someone has a plan and is in control.
There is no plan. Nobody is in control. It is far more scary than you imagine.
Oh no, there's a plan. It's a group of people in control. The key is finding the flaws and exposing the group.
Plenty of hints are abound, but are kept quiet by the messenger. The first people Hitler went after were the messengers. Once they're gone, it's over.
If Mrs. Clinton does not run, are the Democrats looking at a 1968 nominee gap?
