They're both horrible options. Perfect candidates for that pathetic party with no real ideas.
And who, pray tell, on the other side is blessed with "real" ideas? And if you answer Mrs. Bubba, I think you're kidding yourself.

Elizabeth Warren has lots of good ideas for one. Bernie Sanders has so many good ideas he won't even affiliate himself with either party. Either way your question is irrelevant to a discussion of a party who has John Boehner and Mitch McConnell running it.

Ryan and Walker have ideas; they're just awful ideas. Santorum has ideas; they're even worse, lunatic theocratic ideas. Paul has ideas; the jury's out on whether there's anything sound to them or whether they're just the usual Republican "deregulate so our donors can get richer and pick their teeth with the bones of the poor" song and dance.

The rest of the GOP field doesn't have a thought among them, unless you count Cruz, whose every thought is focused on his self-aggrandizement.

Among the good guys, Bernie and Liz have great ideas, Hillary's idea is measuring HER drapes again, and the rest are warmed over porridge.

Awful ideas will not likely not be a factor in the decision for Jeb's VP.

You really think Jeb will get it? Cause I don't see Jeb winning Iowa, NH, or South Carolina and if you go 0-3 in those first three states you're basically toast.

Early primaries will matter less and less as campaign funding, particularly the GOP's, becomes more and more kowtowing to a handful of billionaires. The smart money will either lock up their candidate early, like they did with Dubya, or just play the field against one another for who will drive down the top marginal rates the most. In the latter case, they don't risk much since any Thumper who rises to temporarily lead the field will either implode or eventually have to come bowing and scraping to them. If a wildcard populist who wants to cut Wall Street down to size gets any traction they can completely freeze him out at the state and local party level by threatening anyone who helps them with expulsion.

We're probably only a couple cycles away from IA and NH not mattering at all.

I'll raise you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

I'll raise you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

Those two don't belong in the same sentence.

Harry was awful. The Staypuff Marshmallow Man did less with a Senate majority than any SML in US history. He helped squander the Dems' chance to remake the country in 2008.

Nancy was MUCH more effective. I expected her to be terrible too -- Feinstein-level terrible, but despite her horrendous optics Nancy turned out to be a good leader who would negotiate with the GOP whenever they were in good faith but also importantly let them murder one another when they weren't. She saw earlier than both Harry and Obama that there are forces deep in the GOP id that cannot be reasoned with, they can only be taken behind the grain elevator and humanely put down.

Anyway; I started out thinking Pelosi was going to be poison, but she wasn't -- she proved us all wrong.

And to answer the question, yes, absolutely. When Mittens quit the Insider belts were unified. Both nominations are over barring a dead girl / live boy.

Yep. Its not over...but yes unless there's a gaffe/controversy, its over. Both because of his name and inspite of his name. Hillary's popularity is a mirage.

They're both terrible. This is going to be the most soulless election in American history, as if Nixon were running against Nixon.

Our only hope is B3 puts some complete flake on his ticket.

Sad. I was hoping the GOP would finally pick someone outside of the old rich establishment white guy.

To clarify my position that Hillary's popularity is a mirage...it is very likely she does win the dem derby. But its due to the weakness of the field, not her strength. She gets beat in many a two party contest. She won't be so popular as in the polls when we're standing at the alter.

Is the field weakness due to the party masters wanting a woman at the top of the ticket? I'd love to see somebody take her on - first, that if she IS the nominee so she has to work for it. Second, because I think she folds when the going gets tough and we can't afford a spineless one running the country (unless she's Woodrow Wilson and Bill is Edith Wilson).

Re: Campaign 2016 - Run-HRC? Honest Injun? Gott Mitt Himmel? RyanRubioCruzCrud?

I want her nowhere near the White House, but Hillary is spineless? Do tell.

I like that some of the candidates have come out in support of vaccines.

Really, the rule should be, if you want to participate in society, you need to have a vaccine. No exemptions. Period.

Rand Paul seemed to further the myth that it can cause autism.

There are doctors out west who are refusing patients because their parents have not had them vaccinated and refuse to allow the doctor to do so. They've really turned political lately. I know there's a public health concern, but the couple doctors I've known have just highly advised them and then shook their heads at the refusals, but this turning away patients is a whole new level.

It's hugely political that they refuse to get them in the first place, telling irresponsible parents to take a hike is just prudent. How could they expect any of their care instructions to ever be followed if some moron who thinks it's going to give their kid autism when the doctor straight up tells them that it doesn't?

I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner for doctors to outright advertise that their practice doesn't accept people like that. Or that some dumbass with an R next to their name hasn't started blaming it on Obamacare and death panels trying to cull the special white children. Hurr durr
