Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I'm absolutely in awe that there are still people out there supporting Ben Carson and his pro-apples, anti-bear platform. Meanwhile, the guy himself seems like he's literally sleepwalking through this entire thing. His candidacy might be the most bizarre out of this whole clown show.

No, the Dems have "most bizarre" firmly locked up.

Vermin Supreme finished fourth in New Hampshire, within 400 votes of Martin O'Malley.

Yes, Vermin Supreme, Democrat for President

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

Cruz wants to give all Nevada federal land (and his mother) to Nevada citizens. That may not be enough, I think he will need to offer to double their 2016 salaries.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

Hillary is finally pulling even with Sanders in Minnesota advertising based upon my one-person sample.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

My confidence is not in her...I would take anyone versus Trump or really most of the GOP which is what I have been saying for months. The Clown Show is unelectable...all the Dems need to do is hold court and they will be laughing all the way to a liberal majority in the Supreme Court. Simple math Scoobs...

Handy speaks the truth (did I just write that?). Some simpletons still think you can run a Nixon in '68 campaign, where you run to the right in the primary but to the center in the general election. Apparently smart phones, the internet, and the 24 hour news cycle have yet to be invented. Here on planet Earth the things these guys have said and pledged to do in the debates and elsewhere are going to render them unelectable. Republican Jesus maybe could pull off this race, or keep enough Dems home by being non-threatening enough to sneak in. We aren't going to face Republican Jesus (which Kasich is trying to fill the role as). We're going to face Trump most likely, maybe Cruz and a longshot with Rubio if he ever gets around to winning a state.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

It's Reality TV vs. The Female Troll for the Presidency of the United States of America. And Handy's betting that Reality TV can't win.

I'm not so sure. Probably. But, I'm not so sure.

Call me an optimist Scooby, but issues do still matter. If you want to follow the Bush plan for the budget and economy, you'll have to answer why that's a good idea. If you're on record for wanting to force rape victims to have their attacker's child, you're going to have to explain that in a debate in front of a national audience.

Hillary and Trump or Cruz or Rubio can all be equally unlikeable and its not going to matter. If one person wants to take you back to the Bush Presidency and one wants to continue with the Obama one, that's an easy vote. As I've said before, the Dems aren't facing Republican Jesus. Maybe, maybe in a different year minorities might not have shown up at the polls. Now with the GOP candidates all calling for even US born children of immigrants to be deported, I'm guessing they're going to be handing out some payback come November.

Texas is forcing a 13 year old rape victim to have her child. And no one cares. And that's sad.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I never thought I'd live to see the Democrats be the more organized, mature and staid party. :p

Assuming it is Hillary, the election takes care of itself. Clinton v Rubio is a normal political contest: age vs youth, pragmatism vs ideology, creepy ambition vs dumb ambition. A Rubio win would be terrible for the country and the Court, but we've lived through setbacks before, the arc is long, etc...

If Cruz or Trump actually wins then America really has been transformed into a nation of vidiots and the spark of hope has moved someplace else. Heck, it's happened before -- I'm sure the Athenians thought they would continue to progress forever, too. It will be sad for those of us who have to lower the flag, but it's not the end of the world. The edge of human progress will just advance forward somewhere else, and there are plenty of English-speaking places to get a work visa for the shipwrecked.

Lots of us care. Those of us who have been fighting the orcs for the last 30 years care a lot.

Yes, that's Texas. Cruz would have to defend that stance of his home state and one he presumably agrees with in critical swing states. Good luck with that.

Vermin Supreme is performance art/political satire protesting "the lies people are fed by the media and government" and those ~250 votes he got are protest votes ("none of the above"), or people that just think he is funny. They didn't actually want him to be president. People actually think Ben Carson would be a good president and are stupid enough to vote for him. So there is that difference...

People claim to the Pastafarians too, but no one actually believes the FSM is real.

Okay, which one of you USCHO lefties posted this article in dailykos? ;)

Bernie Sanders is the new Martin Luther King

"A bold statement I know, but hear me out. Like Martin Luther King, Bernie Sanders has a dream. Like Dr. King believed that if the people stood up they could change a hundred years of Jim Crow segregation and racial injustice. Bernie Sanders believes that if the people stand up they can change a hundred years of corruption and rigged economics in a very short period of time.

As a young man in the sixties Bernie was inspired by Dr. King, Bernie was a leader of his local CORE affiliate and fought for racial justice Bernie saw first hand the power of a righteous idea, he watched Dr. King change this society from the bottom up.

The people in power did not want Black people, or those who believed in our cause, to believe in Dr. King or his ideas. They said that Dr. King was trying to move too fast, that we all should just be patient and eventually they would give us what they had been refusing to give us for centuries. Those same people are now poisoning our minds with the idea that even though Bernie’s cause may sound just, it is in reality only a pipe dream that can never come true. They ask us; who is going to pay for these things? They tell us these ideas will never get through Congress. Does anyone think that when Martin Luther King started out that he had a detailed, step by step plan laid out? Does anyone think that Dr. king could tell you exactly how everything was going to get paid for? Does anyone think that Dr. King knew then that the United States Congress would approve the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act? I think not.

It all started with a dream, and the dream became a goal, and we all started down a path not knowing for sure where it would take us. It was our desire for change and the energy of the people that turned Dr. King’s dream into a reality.

Without hope for a better tomorrow people tend to languish as we see in our urban ghettos. But no matter what their background or circumstances people with hope for a better tomorrow tend thrive and prosper. But the power structure in this country has a vested interest in making us all feel there is no hope, that we are powerless, that we really can’t do anything to change the status quo.

Bernie says “enough is enough”. The rich have had their revolution, the Reagan revolution where they set the wheels in motion to take what little wealth the poor and middle class had accumulated. It is now time for a middle class revolution where we take back our fair share of wealth and attend to the needs of the poor and hungry.

Needs like, everyone being able to see a doctor when they need medical attention without having to wait until you can afford it.

Needs like, every child, regardless of their family’s income, knowing as he or she grows up that if they stay out of trouble and keep their grades up, they will be able to go to college and earn a degree, make something of themselves and break their family’s cycle of poverty. A thing like this could put an end to ghettos in a generation or two.

Can you imagine what a vibrant and healthy society we would have if everyone had a realistic hope of a better tomorrow? These things are a logical extension of Martin Luther King’s dream. These are the things that Bernie Sanders is fighting for. Bernie is the only politician that is willing to go to bat for real change for the better in the lives of the average American, all the others are only suggesting small baby steps that ultimately lead to no real change at all.

Do not be fooled by those that tell you that we can’t change the system. After all, this is our system as much as it is anyone’s We need to get behind this man and help him go as far as he can with his ideas of change, just like we did with Dr. King. I am sure that if Martin Luther King were alive today he would stand with Bernie Sanders 100%"

And somewhere the leaders of the Democratic party are very, very quietly applauding this. When 2/3 of the women getting abortions are minorities and below the poverty line, it just insures a future generation of voters who vote (D).

That makes absolutely no sense. But, whatever. Kids life gets ****ed up and the government sticks the knife in even further.

This is garbage. I'm sure it's what passes for "fact" on rightwing nutbar sites, but at the end of the day it's an excuse.

Sometimes there really are good sides and bad sides. The Republicans who have been forcing these laws through at the state level to gut abortion as on the bad side. The Democrats who have been fighting them are on the good side.

Rationalize it however you need to in order to sleep at night, but you're hurting people and we're trying to help them. Go ahead and project bizarre conspiracies about motives. At the end of the day, we can all see what's going on.
