Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I think it was the moderator-who-shall-not-be-named that had that little gem instituted before he took his keyboard and went home.

I thought those rules were established by the configuration of the underlying engine by the actual site host. Presumably there's some "NO SLURS" bit that was flipped on and which wasn't very intelligently programmed and so just takes a jackhammer to content rather than being a little bit smart.

Of course, I have no idea who actually owns and hosts USCHO. Maybe it's a cabal of the Mods. :)

The mods have added to the naughty word list over the years. Things like w-t-f, for instance.

There's a custom dictionary used. They've added, refined, and made exceptions to it. For instance, when they first engaged it, the words "bass" and "assumption" would star-out. They just got lazy when it came to adding the root t-ard to it.

Looks like Hillary's "revamp" is just to go totally negative on Bernie.

Let's see how that plays. "Shrill desperate screamer selfishly attacks America's little ol' kindhearted and sincere curmudgeonly grandpa for taking too many bran muffins off her plate." Grandpa wins.

Hilary's only hope at this point is that they release a new season of House of Cards on Super Tuesday and all the "Obama just doesn't try hard enough, man" intelligentsia ends up staying home for a binge watch.

How soon will the Dems be Biden their time?

Hillary's good at pushing the idea you can't believe both that Obama did a good job but that he also failed to live up to all the hype.

We saw a different debate.

Hillary is easily the most (and in some ways the only) qualified politician in either field. And with details, she showed it tonight (as Gergen said, Hillary knew Bernies policies better than he did). If she wasn't saddled with a right wing smear campaign centered on an email account, she'd be coasting to the white house.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Primary season! Duck (questions) season!

I only heard snippets of the debate on POTUS but the "negatives" from both candidates sure seemed tame to me.

Hillary has a natural line of rhetoric: "we all believe in Bernie's goals, but I will make progress towards them while Bernie will overshoot and achieve nothing." Even as a supporter of Bernie, that argument holds weight with me.

Bernie's "gap between Congress and the people" argument is too complicated to be compelling, because it's three stage:

1. Bernie wins.
2. ???
3. Profit!

Step 2 seems to be that if Bernie wins it will be because millions of previously disaffected liberals will start voting, and if they do that then the makeup of Congress will be dramatically altered. Even as a supporter of Bernie, that argument holds NO weight with me. Campaigns that depend on a "silent majority" that will emerge and change the contours of the electorate are always disappointed.

But I could be wrong, since he doesn't state that directly, which is no better since it leaves him open to the criticism that he's peddling woo.

I'm not thrilled with the last few days for Bernie. I get that most of the country is first meeting him and so even though he's repeating the same message and aims that we here all know by heart those just tuning in are getting it for the first time. But I wanted him to pivot to "OK, I'm known now (see my NH results), so let me tell you HOW I'm going to build the Workers' Paradise." And he hasn't done that.

I could be really overthinking it though since we're all following along 100x more closely than the average voter, and 10x closer than the average primary voter.

Saw a bit of it and I agree with some of the coverage that Sanders looked tired. Clinton also sounded a lot better than she usually does. I am happy that she brought up the point made earlier that you either think Obama's presidency was a triumph for progressives or you don't and want to blow everything up that was done over the last 7 years. That's her theme and she needs to stick with it. If the voters don't want it, then its not in the cards for her this time around. You're not going to be able to out-promise Sanders. He owns the vision of a liberal utopia and that's fine as he seems sincere about that. I wouldn't even spend too much time trashing the math. Fundamentally you either think liberals have won big victories from 1993-2001 and 2009-present or you don't. List the accomplishments and ask Bernie to list why he thinks those fell short or what he would have done differently.

I did't watch the debate but I guess from what you guys are saying it's Hillary for prez. I can't help being a little bit disappointed that it's over so soon this year. We knew the Republicans weren't going to run a candidate but I was kind of hoping for a more meaningful battle out of Bernie than 2 states. Oh well, fun while it lasted.
