Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an election

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Yeah, kind of frustrating. Dumb media fed it in 2000 and we haven't looked back since...

:) C-SPAN 2 is also broadcasting CBC.

It sure looks like son of Trudeau will be the next PM, fulfilling Dick Nixon's prophesy.

Would we have better turnover in our political masters if we had a parliamentary form of government?

Reports of Uncle Joe announcing his run are beginning to surface.

The only reports I've seen are "decision within 48 hours." The only place I've seen a definite is Bullsh-t Mountain.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

I am starting to think that maybe you guys have a problem...

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump jumped four percentage points in support among GOP primary voters and further separated himself from the competition, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll partly released Monday.

It's not January yet, so you've got some time, but the clock's ticking and this bozo was supposed to be gone by, what, Thanksgiving?

Also, in news of the deluded:

Webb's campaign distributed an email to reporters that advertised a news conference Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., with the subject line, "Jim Webb to consider independent run," according to the reports.

Uh huh. You just do that, Jim.

Steven Harper got invited to the Red Wedding tonight.

At least the GOP doesn't trust those in power. #SpinMachine

Fair point. :)

If Biden's serious, he'll drop that announcement like an anvil just before Hillary goes to the Hill. That'll change the dynamic.

Wonder if the results from Canada were more anti Stephen Harper than pro Justin Trudeau/Labor.

PM elect Trudeau needs to determine what was the reason he's now PM before trying to remake the nation. It's a warning that all politicians should heed after they've deposed a long serving leader.

Sounds like Joe is in this morning.

4 separate polls showing her increasing her lead. That's pretty decisive IMHO.

In other news, I guess the Carly Fiorina media inspired boomlet has run its course...

Marco Rubio (the new object of the media's affection) beware!!!

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Good article although the dude ripped me off. As I had said earlier, the primaries are coming quicker than people think. Between Thanksgiving and New Years nobody's going to be paying attention, then Iowa is right around the corner. I've also said that Cruz is the immediate beneficiary of a Trump/Carson meltdown because he's the most ideologically aligned with their voters.

So, IMHO if Iowa goes to Carson its a non-event as he's not going to win anywhere else. If it goes to Trump AND he turns around and wins NH over a fractured Establishment field (remember people like Kasich are going balls to the wall there to stay in the contest) this contest is going all the way to the convention before he can be stopped.

In Iowa, Carson/Cruz/Huckleberry/Sanitarium need a good showing. Trump is playing with house money and the others like Bush are staying away as they have nothing to gain by contesting a state they're going to finish 6th in. However doesn't poll well out of the first group (probably Huckleberry and Sanitarium) most likely drop out. In New Hampshire, the poor performing Establishment people get weeded out. If Bush can't win there or finish a real strong second, what's the point of his candidacy? That's in his family's back yard as they're all New England yankee elites. I'd expect Kasich and Fiorina to give up the ghost at that point.

Then comes the SEC primary. If Bush doesn't win there he's toast. Same with Rubio and Cruz. Big big BIG problem is a muddled outcome, like Trump wins some, Cruz wins others and Bush/Rubio a few more (at this point one of the two of Bush/Rubio will get eliminated). You don't want a situation where the contest moves to places like California and New York, where big bucks celebrity Donald Trump has free media coverage plus unlimited funds on short notice while his rivals need to go hat in hand to big bucks donors to fund their super PAC's.

One last thing about the Canadian elections. About 150 seats out of 338 in the House of Commons changed occupants last night. If that haapened here, that would be an almost 200 seat turnover in the H of R.

It's nice to dream.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

That would be outstanding. I think...

Then again, be careful what you wish for, blah blah blah.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

Oh I know. You could get 200 new bs crazy uber liberals as well as 200 rabidly loonie conservatives.

I guess I'm less concerned about that and more wondering how much of a clown show it would be with that many new faces. It could just dial up everything that is wrong with Congress since they wouldn't know how things actually work in DC. The party whips would have their work cut out for them.

There's a reason we don't elect all of our Senators at the same time. I'm sure that's part of the reason.

When everyone is new, all of them will think they are in on a mandate from the nation and push the "ME ME ME!" angle instead of what's best for the country and their constituents. There is something to be said for gridlock in Washington, but then again, things need to get done. New faces would be like replacing half the experienced drivers on the road with 15-year-olds with learner permits while talking on a cell phone.

Was listening to Rush Limbaugh for the first time in quite a while and he's really pushing Trump. It made me think: first of all, the two are birds of a feather (absurdly self-righteous old white male performance personalities with a very similar style of bombastic false gravitas), and one's inexplicable popularity, if understood, might help to explain the other's. Also, perhaps Limbaugh's endorsement still has some sway in Republican primary circles. Also, if those two ever have a falling out I would love to listen in; that would be great theater.
