Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an election

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

It's a non-event because they didn't actually break the law. Again, the PP videos are in the same vein as your standard PETA or ELF video taken at meat packing plants. They're designed to shock and raise money, not actually send anyone to jail.

It doesn't help when GOP members of Congress don't even attempt to be unbiased, either. Their hearings on the 'issue' make kangaroo courts look legit.

Oh, NO. It's a huge event to follow the law to the letter. A law passed by many Republicans. It never ceases to amaze how the right just can't control their own outrage machine. Collecting money for fetal tissue to cover costs is 100% legal. Using Fetal Tissue from abortions for research is 100% legal. Republicans voted for it.

So, what exactly is the issue? The crassness of the morons in the video? The same people who hate their crassness have elevated Capt. Crass to the tops of the polls.

They never cease to amaze.

While the PP video stuff is absurd, it speaks to something darker if Republicans ever control the government again. If a clearly partisan group can manipulate one political party with obviously doctored videos that said party is going to pretend means something else (body part trafficking) and then go so far as to hold hearing and pass laws based on what they know is a falsehood, where does it end? What if an interest group wants to see another war? Are they going to doctor an interview with someone to make it look like they're planning a chemical weapons attack on the US, and the attack in imminent? Will Goopers then use that to justify military action even if they know the "secret footage" has been tampered with and edited? You could have a situation where we get dragged yet again into a war with North Korea or Iran based on total BS when the Republicans don't even care that they're being manipulated. Really, the possibilities are horrific.

Yeah, but that phenomenon is hardly limited to liberal college campuses, either. The right wing poutrage machine is notorious for shouting down dissenting voices.

Still waiting for examples of this.

In the link you provided, they linked to a picture containing the ten most protested commencement speakers. Bill Ayers made it on the list with three protests. The other nine are all Republicans, amounting to 36 protests between them - most at 3 each, with W at 7, Condoleeza and Nonie Darwish at 4 each.

I know and he was, indeed, disinvited but I don't see any evidence of him being shouted down which is what unofan seemed to be saying.

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

And PP is a stink, but their tame lapdogs in the media, White House and the Democratic party (can't cut off those campaign $$, can we!) have made it a non event.

You realize this snark cuts both ways, right? Perhaps one of the motives of the GOP is just that--to cut off a campaign funding source of the Dems.

Correct. So, make some real impact. Like Public Television and Planned Parenthood funding. Shut them down. Those will get the budget under control.

Nope. Drop in the bucket. The entitlement payments and DoD need to be reigned in to make a difference. Fat chance.

Those who pay attention have known this for many years (meaning many don't seem to have known/know it).

Sorry but I don't see the outrage on the right from either of those. Planned Parenthood they're willing to shutdown over. I haven't seen them shutting the government down for entitlement or DoD spending. I added Public Television because that's the only other example I could think of.

I should have added the debt ceiling. They'll shutdown over that as well.

No! REALLY?? How about public employee unions, too?

Are you playing Flaggy's game where he muddies the water by responding with something completely incoherent?

Re: Campaign 2016 - People lie the most after a hunt, during a war or before an elect

So, is Bernie the only candidate running on this topic?

From Elizabeth Warren's Facebook Page.

7 years ago today, Lehman Brothers collapsed, sparking the worst financial crisis in generations. Our system is safer today than it was then thanks to the Dodd-Frank financial reforms, but the failure of our biggest banks would still pose a real threat to our economy. That’s why I asked Fed Chair Janet Yellen last year about whether the big banks had met their legal obligation to submit credible plans explaining how they could fail without taking down the economy or forcing a taxpayer bailout. A year later, the Fed still hasn’t determined whether or not these banks have credible plans. It’s time for the Fed to make that determination and ensure that what happened with Lehman seven years ago couldn’t happen again.

God Bless Her.

Scoobs, you bring up an interesting point. For uber-liberals, Dodd-Frank is a Wall St sellout (). However, a lion of the progressive movement, Senator Elizabeth Warren, is a supporter of the law and had a hand in drafting it I believe, particularly the CFPB. I'm wondering how to reconcile that...

easy.

she, like you, is never wrong.

You need examples of rush Limbaugh/any fox news reporter/any other person in the poutrage machine interrupting people who disagree?

To be clear, my initial response was not to say it happened in reverse on college campuses (because college campuses tend to be almost exclusively liberal), I'm saying it happens across the spectrum. Hence my reference to the poutrage machine.

Crossfire turned it into an art form from both sides until Jon Stewart got that cancelled.

Is it the classic something is better than nothing? Like Obamacare? Laws are funny things. A law with no enforcement is like a newspaper with no print.
