Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is awful

I think that ad is fantastic. Right message (except the immigration b.s.), but wrong, wrong, wrong guy.

That's the most frustrating thing about all this. If this election was Jeb! against Bernie, we'd be running that ad (except the immigration b.s.). Virtually everything that ad says is correct. But the f-ckwit orangutan running it and the organized crime party he's the nominee of will do nothing but make everything 10x worse.

A huge blown chance.

I was thinking the same thing while watching that. Any half-sane competent politician running on that platform and running that ad would win in a landslide.

But Trump ain't that guy.

Are they in Mosul...cause Mosul is a mess. Mosul is a tremendous mess caused by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the idiots in the military. If Donald was in charge we never would have told the people of Mosul what was going on and Mosul would not be in the hands of ISIS. The disastrous Obama administration and Hillary Clinton created ISIS and Mosul and we need a tremendous change. If Donald is in charge we will get victories in Mosul, tremendous victories...the greatest victories Mosul has ever seen!

I'd suggest you apply to be Orange Creamsicle's speechwriter, but I don't think he'd require the services of one even if he somehow gets into the Oval.

He basically said Sorrynotsorry! If this was Dan Rather the conservatves would be burning hi at the stake!

Not saying the hypocrisy isn't legitimate, but I think it's fair to point out that Dan Rather wasn't working for a openly partisan network when he committed his career-ending gaffe.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is aw

Wow. Sadly somebody will believe this.

Maybe we are talking about two different things?

There is a set of beliefs officially professed by the Republican party, and there is a very different set of beliefs professed by groups of people who also vote Republican. Perhaps you were talking about the latter and I was talking about the former.

I have no doubt that officially the Republican party rejects those beliefs. After all, it was William F. Buckley who marginalized the John Birch Society because he didn't want them to be associated with him in any way.

You and I agree again. Perhaps there is hope for the future of our Republic yet!

Viewed purely from a persuasion point of view, that is an exceptional piece of work; on so many different levels. They actually took a fairly complex subject and made it intuitively accessible to ordinary people, which is quite hard to do, and they did it very well (talking about how the interconnected network of the rich and powerful benefits a select few and the expense of the rest of us, while cutting between shots of global big wigs in various planning meetings). It has very good production values.

and the way he* reinterpreted John F. Kennedy's best line for the current situation was pure genius (when viewed as art): "Your country needs you. It needs you and me, working together." It appeals to our best instincts as human beings.

After such a depressing and dispiriting campaign, to elevate so far above it with a closing appeal that gives us a chance to feel good about who we are, just as we are -- the contrast between the campaign and this commercial is especially striking.

I am amazed that a person with his reputation could possibly have made something like this. He even muted his New York accent.

* or his writer.....

What the Republican party officially says, and what the Republican party officially does, are two quite different animals.

No. Sweet Jeebus, no. If you think this ad would be good for America if Sanders were running it, even sans the immigration nonsense, you've lost your mind. You're just exchanging one demagogue for another.

The modern establishment is what keeps this country functioning and semi-sane, despite its struggles to accomplish things in the last 5-6 years due to petty partisan crapola. I'll acknowledge there are areas that need some controlled burning, but that doesn't mean the whole thing needs to be nuked. What Trump and Sanders both advocate is a quasi "tyranny by majority" that is outwardly for the proletariat, but inwardly favors their friends and cronies. That's no different from a plutocracy. The main deviation is that Trump uses race to establish that divide, and Sanders uses wealth, but it's the same wedge tactic.

Judge Issues Restraining Order in Ohio!

A judge in Cleveland on Friday issued a temporary restraining order against Republican presidential candidate Donald Drumpf’s campaign and a GOP political operative, preventing them from harassing or intimidating Ohio voters.

U.S. District Judge James Gwin ruled in a lawsuit filed by the Ohio Democratic Party that anyone who engages in intimidation or harassment inside or near Ohio polling places would face contempt-of-court charges. Gwin dismissed the Ohio Republican Party as a defendant in the case.

The lawsuit claimed that the Ohio GOP, the Drumpf campaign, operative Roger Stone and his political action committee, Stop the Steal, were conspiring to suppress minorities in urban areas from casting ballots on Tuesday.

I was just naming a random guy...wasnt comparing what Rather did with what Faux did per se.

La Times Backing Up Rover

The first is that an election whose negativity seemed destined to drive away more voters than it attracted has so far done the reverse, prompting a record deluge of early voting in many of the states that will decide the presidency. By Tuesday, experts estimate, as many as 40% of the eventual ballots may have already been cast.

The second is that Drumpf has been helpful to Clinton’s efforts to increase voting among women and Latinos.

In key states like North Carolina, Nevada and Florida, gains among women and minorities have bolstered the Democrat’s efforts to block Drumpf’s avenues to victory. Drumpf, too, has seen big turnout increases among his targeted voters, but they have not overwhelmed the Democratic forces as some in his party had hoped.

In Nevada, a giant get-out-the-vote operation by Culinary Union Local 226, which represents casino workers, has contributed to a dominant showing for Clinton in early voting.

Obama Stops Crowd...Defends Trump Supporter

Gee I wonder if anyone in Drumpf's camp would do that...

Assuming that cap is legit, he was a Green Beret. Interesting coat though, looks like a Civil War reproduction, with (presumably) his medals tacked on...

Not exactly showing respect for the Commander in Chief with the rest of his outfit though - figures. He'd probably be in proper full dress for a Republican.

North Carolina's voter roll purge was also over-turned in court today. 16 years too late, a little too far north, but I'll take what I can get.

Yeah I saw that too!

Oh and good news in Florida:

Hispanic EIP voting in Florida is off the charts...429k have voted in person, up 152% at this time in 2012

#TrumpEffect

I am going to go out on a limb and say they aint voting for their own deportation ;)

Oh and pictures of voting spots in Nevada even 2 hours ago showed long lines of people waiting to vote!

Except the bankers Sanders mentions should be in jail unlike the groups attacked by Trump.

His VA psych ward nurse looks good in a suit.

WHAT? I thought Rover was a troll? How can he be right about just about everything in this election and still be a troll? :D Isn't he just whistling past the graveyard while hoards of Trump voters overwhelm the system while the people Trump makes fun of are too lazy to vote? I mean, who needs actual early voting when we have polls, right? Right? ;)

People, the fundamentals of this race have never changed. Trump was always going to get killed with non-whites since he adopted KKK rhetoric. They were always going to turn out because of it. What's killed Trump is educated whites. He can't lose them as well, or even run below Romney's levels, and win the race. I'd be a bit worried that the female vote is up over 2012 in every state that measures that demographic. Hmmm...first woman Presidential candidate.....running against a guy bragging on tape about assaulting women.....yup, Advantage Trump right Scooby/Kep/etc/etc

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is aw

How much you want to bet that there will still be harassment at the polls? They will totally ignore the courts, preventing as many votes as possible, and "beg" forgiveness after. Which will work if they go to jail after getting don the most votes.

So many times we see the "law and order" party totally ignore the laws and courts they don't agree with. Terrible people.
