Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is awful

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is aw

Good point. Can't believe I forgot that one.

1. Because one party has decided that blacks don't deserve to vote.
2. Because one party has decided that the 85% of Americans who want background checks are idiots.
3. Because one party has decided that trickle down economics works.
4. Because one party has decided that passing laws making it harder for poor women to get the Health Care they need is good social policy.
5. Because one party has decided that building a wall and making millions of people criminals serves the public good.
6. There is no 6.
7. Because one party has decided the Constitution needed changing so certain Americans couldn't get married.
8. Because one party has decided that their job is to block any Supreme Court nominee who isnt put up by an R.
9. Because one party has decided that rather than address serious issues or pass appropriations bills they would devote their energy to holding a show trial repealing a health care plan that has given insurance to 20 million previously uncovered people, despite there being zero chance that it would survive a certain veto. Sixty times.
10. Because one party has decided to vote consistently to gut financial reform and leave us wide open to another debilitating fiscal crisis.
11. Because one party has decided to hold the full faith and credit of the United States government at knife point and risk triggering an American monetary crisis and global depression just to score partisan points.

I think what you are seeing is that, much like Nate said over the weekend, we know enough about these candidates that the BS noise is really having zero effect. Each candidate has a range and they have kind of stuck to it since mid summer. The problem the GOP has always had is that Drumpf's highs are not high enough even against Hillary's lows. It is close (usually around 3 points) but outside of an outlier poll he never actually makes up the ground. Even when Nate is fatalistic about Hillary he admits that there is not likely scenario where she wins the Popular vote and loses the election. He has to win the PV to have any shot at winning the EV. (and he still could lose)

And while she was slightly reeling this past week, his campaign never really used it as a chance to push ahead. While the advantage of keeping Trump tranquilized while all of this was happening is that he didn't blow it by saying anything monumentally stupid, he also didn't do anything to particularly take advantage of it either. That's I guess the downside of a candidate who only hurts himself when he has extended time in front of a camera.

At the risk of sounding hopelessly obtuse, would someone post copies of the two or three most incriminating emails. News OF the emails is everywhere, but the emails themselves are harder to find.

Or just post the cite.

That is true but the numbers dont show that in Nevada which is what Rover is talking about. With the lead Hillary already has Drumpf would need to win the vast vast majority of the rest to take the state and that just isnt likely.

Rover is over the top...but he does not appear to be wrong when it comes to Nevada.

The problem with 538 (and it isnt a problem it just shows why it is kind of not relevant right now) is that we have actual votes to count and he leaves them out. (for obvious reasons) So while random polls maybe be throwing Nevada pink the actual votes are showing Nevada is Blue and you can say that (according to the named pollster) because 2/3 of the state has voted and her numbers so far have surpassed even Obamas.

(yes the caveat still holds that we can only go by the affiliations of who voted)

When it comes to this election, Rover has been batting about .900 in his predictions. I'm like David Ortiz in that 2013 World Series.

A couple of other points:

1) Polling isn't inherently corrupt, but it does struggle to keep up with changes like anything else. In some states well over half of the electorate has already voted. Unless you're taking a poll that asks how the EV's voted and then a separate poll of likely voters who haven't yet voted and merge the two, the poll is useless. The advent and increasing usage of early voting is fundamentally changing politics, political races, and polling.

2) While some states are polled for how the EV's voted and some are not, you can still make some inferences regarding ballots turned in or party affiliation. 55% of the vote in FL being women isn't a good sign for Trump. Nor is new Hispanic voters. Likewise, if we got word of higher raw vote totals in older white areas, that would be detrimental to Hillary. Really, the only "new" voters out there in significant #s are either young people or Hispanics. On the flip side, Hillary needs to get the black vote up in Ohio.

Just keep telling yourself that botboy.

Yep. The Democratic Party has moved to the left. That's why Bernie won the nomination.

Meanwhile the GOP has gone from the party of Eisenhower to the party of white nationalist xenophobes and he apparently hasn't noticed.

Do you want the fiction, non-fiction or science fiction version of the emails?

From the article:

One of the most dam-ning pieces of evidence was an email in which Kelly wrote: "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee." Then, as the four days of gridlock unfolded and Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich complained about children unable to get to school, she texted: "Is it wrong that I am smiling?"

To be fair, she never had a chance. Bridget was born for this.

Maybe people will learn that emails are not secure now. Just like typing on this board is forever so are emails.

How cooked ins Donald's goose? It's so cooked that Fox News has a graphic posted on their homepage stating that if every state they show as being a "toss-up" goes to Trump, he still loses the election.

If you want to read the emails: https://wikileaks.org/

Anything posted by anyone else, whether it is a news story or simply a cut&paste here, will have be biased. If you are really interested, read for yourself, not what someone else tells you is important.

Yes, but if it's within the margin of error, what are the odds he screams "FRAUD!11!!! I'LL SUE!1!! HUR DUR!" and follows through on it?

And what are the long-term consequences to the country of not completely repudiating his fascist candidacy with a blowout Clinton victory?

The apotheosis of the Trump movement. Cut to 5:00 for even more fun.

I do believe we've seen this before, somewhere.

To be serious for a second...his only recourse is The Courts and they wont overturn the Election Results.

To add more to Scooby's Indictment of the GOP:

1. Because one party has decided that blacks don't deserve to vote.
2. Because one party has decided that the 85% of Americans who want background checks are idiots.
3. Because one party has decided that trickle down economics works.

5. Because one party has decided that building a wall and making millions of people criminals serves the public good.
6. There is no 6. (we dont need no stinking 6!)
12. Because one party has decided shutting down the government is better than compromise
13. Because one party has decided Science doesnt matter
14. Because one party has decided that facts dont matter

No, that's not his only recourse. He and his band of fanatics have a wet dream where they overthrow the tyrannical federal government, jail/execute Hillary and install Sniffles as our new Fearless Leader. There aren't nearly enough of them to actually do it, but there are enough "patriots" willing to "water the tree of liberty" with their blood to create a headache for the FBI, ATF and local law enforcement.
