Campaign 2016 Part XXIV: Both candidates are the same, but here's why yours is awful

You were expecting a candidate for a seat to write an op-ed to the paper and defend everything you don't like about the party instead of extolling what he sees as his winning qualities? From which reality are you working, Scooby? It sure isn't the same reality in which politics works.

I'm not asking him to defend the indefensible. I'm asking him to explain it. I want an explanation.

I believe in fifty years he will be seen as one of the greatest presidents.
Well by then he will be dead and there's a good number of racist people who only seem to like black civil rights members after they're dead.

What do AZ and FL have in common? High numbers of Latinos. Who has Drumpf targeted his hatred at the most consistently?

The states are close because the Whites are being offset...

True, true. And GA is still hanging around at only +2/+3 for Trump, which is definitely in striking distance. It feels weird that the usual swing suspects (FL/OH/NC) can be so close without GA getting more out of reach.

I mean I kinda get where they're coming from in some sense, this country is basically ran by oligarchs and crooked people who will implement policies that further enable rich people to get away with murder. Hillary is probably as guilty of that as any other politician. The problem is their party isn't actually doing anything to fix that problem and that's not even getting into the list you quote.

Where you say "their" (last sentence) it should probably reference both parties.

Why would they "repair" a system that they (both parties) are getting rich from?

Point being that's the only halfway decent idea they have and they aren't remotely sincere about it. Yes it's a bipartisan issue and the only person who campaigned this year and actually had ideas to fix it didn't win the democratic primary.

I'd just like an explanation for their positions. His entire piece is code for trickle down and poisonous water (see Michigan). So, he needs to explain to me what trickle down does for small business and while he's at it how a dwindling Middle Class is supposed to be able to afford to support small business in lieu of going to Wal-Mart.

Why would that matter? There were Republican women tweeting that the 19th Amendment should be repealed.

Let's assume 50% of Republican wives are as stupid as or stupider than their husbands. That leaves 50% who are smarter*, lie to their husbands, vote for Hillary, then lie to the exit pollster so they aren't overheard and beaten up.

* Though not smart enough to avoid marrying a Republican man in the first place.

Forget if it was posted here or if I saw it elsewhere, but there was a poll that asked the question. I think it was 33% or married R men said their wives were voting Hillary, 45% of married R women said they were voting for Hillary.

It's embarrassing that a majority of White Males are supporting Trump. We're smarter than that.

If the GOP was even putting up a fake effort at it (like Dems do every so often) they would not be seen in nearly the negative light they are these days.

I mean seriously look at the list...it isnt like people are asking for full on Socialism. Vett SC nominees, focus less on repealing ObamaCare and more of fixing it, stop shutting down the government, stop supressing the vote openly and be like true conservatives and stay out of people's private lives. If they did those few things they would not be likely to lose the Senate.

Well yeah obviously I see your point and agree. It's not like he's even sincere about helping small businesses.

Well life is tough when you are a White Male...they need some change they can believe in ;)

No, no, we're really not.

It breaks down heavily by education, though.

And of course this could be the first election where a majority of college educated whites (both genders) vote Democratic. That even includes 1964, which says something about the magnitude of educated flight from Trump.

Had this conversation with folks at work today.

Them: Hillary's a liar, we all know it, all she does is lie. She wants to abolish the second amendment.
Me: Really? Where did you hear this? Just cause Rush or the loonie websites you go for your news said so, doesn't mean it's true. What was the quote? Where's you hear this from?
Them: I dunno. She said it. She wants to do it. And she's a liar, she lies all the time.
Me: And Trump doesn't? Fact check over the campaign has said that Trump lies more than 75% of the time, far more than Hillary.
Them: Doesn't matter, Hillary's a liar.
Me: Really, tell me one of them.
Them: the emails
Me: What about the emails, tell me, what exactly did she lie about?
Them: The emails
Me: But what about them? If she lies so much, must be easy to tell me one of them. Hell, I can tell you a Hillary lie. *Tells them about her coming under fire at the airfield*
Them: The emails, they were classified.

And on and on. Others were adamant about how Trump, who's made an entire career out of stiffing people who have worked for him, was the champion of the working man

Entitled to their own facts and their own reality.
