Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Clinton will make a fine president. They are attacking her ad hom because (a) they can't really argue with her policies except for the Iran nuclear deal, and considering the ayatollah hates it it can't be the giveaway Trump keeps saying it is, and (b) they can't argue in favor of Trump because he's a steaming pile of merde.

In 2020 the GOP may put up a credible alternative, but this time there is only one acceptable choice. The Clinton Hate is strong on the right, but they lost all credibility when they nominated the Molotov-lobbing Mussolini. Drop back, reorg, and try to get the adults back in control of your party.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

The last 72 hours out of the FBI (directly or via NYT) has me agreeing with you.

Something is up with the FBI...but much like I never feel refs purposefully rig a game (hell half of them arent smart enough to do it ;) ) I dont think Comey is trying to influence anything I just think he is a moron who hasnt thought through what he was doing. He got a lot of flack from the right side of the aisle when they "closed" the investigation and didnt charge Hillary and he wasnt going to let that happen again if somehow it went public Mrs. Danger had a computer that MAY have files. (we can all imagine the stories on Faux without much effort...he would get destroyed)

So he did the opposite of what he would normally do (and did in the case of Russia) and made sure to look into things right away and inform the Judiciary. Now it looks like he is doing everything he was trying to prevent. (imho)

This is exactly how I see it. It was a political move, but he can do math as well as anybody else so it wasn't to try to flip the election, it was to protect his right personally. And even at that, he handled it ineptly. He was establishing his bona fides so he can go the Bo Dietl route when this is all over.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Honestly, it changes nothing. But it confirms what many Trump supporters long believed**, and they'll use Podesta's emails as the proof.

**"We the People" aren't running the show; the globalelitistIlluminatiBilderbergCFRTrilateralRoth < gasp > schildWallStreetBankers run it all. Alex Jones says so donchaknow, so it's gotsta be true!

Frankly anyone whose not a Trump supporter doesn't really care what Trump supporters have long believed. Because Trump supporters have long believed whatever Trump told them regardless of the facts and/or fact checking...and subsequently were voting for him regardless.

People care what independents think and unfortunately people care what the FBI thinks because they don't expect it to take a stance on the election (which it did).

In 2020 unless they find someone who isnt in the public eye now they are screwed. No candidate who endorsed Drumpf will win minus Clinton getting indicted. The broad brush of Drumpf wont be wiped away.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Careless is an overused word in the grand scheme of things and doesn't need to be applied to how she will perform in the White House. Once President do you think she's going to be sitting around sending e-mails all day long? Everything the POTUS does will be scripted for the most part, carefully watched and protected and she's going to be a decision maker not a writer. In that regard she's infinitely more qualified and trustworthy than Trump and it's not even close.

And there's the Democrats' rallying cry. Again.

There has been no argument from me on that. Not at all.

Yet every time someone rips on Hillary, that phrase gets trotted out.

LOL. Does your butt hurt?

Let's put it this way. John Kasich is the best they have to offer and he is unacceptable to be President. I laid out a couple of weeks ago six reasons why I can't pull the level for a Republican. Until those 6 reasons go away in my mind they are all unacceptable. You will see how unacceptable they are after this election is won by Hillary Clinton.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Again, not pulling for the GOP.

Handy has been about the only Dem on here to not treat Hillary as a saint. Hillary is horrible. She just happens to be quite less horrible than anyone else.

I think you're missing the point. That's ok though. 42% of the country is completely missing the point. You're probably in the 3-5% that are just missing it.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

This is the party "dual" conservatives (economic and social) should really be supporting. All of the principles and none of the hypocrisy.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

If you live in a purple state please get every one of your sentient relatives and friends to the polls. It shouldn't be close, but it is close.

You say we can't argue with her "policies." I'm not saying some of her "policies" are necessarily bad. I think we have some real problems with the price of higher education and with infrastructure spending and the like. I'm just saying she has given me no indication, in her "decades" of public service, that she will do anything about them. She certainly didn't while in the Senate.

One of your popular phrases is something to the effect that we must vote for Hillary and other Dems to keep the Orcs at the door. Basically the ongoing villainization of Republicans. She'll be our Gandalf, telling them they shall not pass. So how's she done on that, historically speaking?

You guys crucify the Republican party for its stance on gay marriage. You blame Republicans for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. You argue the Patriot Act has been this assault on our liberties. You blame Republicans for creating the largest income gap between the 1% and the rest of the population. (Understand when I use the term "you" I am referring to Dems and people on the left generally, not necessarily Kep personally on each and every one.)

Personally, I agree the way our country has handled those items has been pathetic, at best.

I don't remember HRC condemning her husband for signing the Defense of Marriage Act. Her position on gay marriage has been like the leaves in my yard. Find the direction of the wind and you'll find HRC.

Didn't she vote for the attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan? I don't recall her vote specifically on the Patriot Act, but I certainly don't recall her standing up in the well of the Senate and speaking out against invading those countries or against the provisions of the Patriot Act, at least not until it became politically expedient for her to later do so.

Did she do anything during her time in the Senate to pull in the reigns on Wall Street. Isn't that the primary rip people like you on the far left have against her, is her coziness with Wall Street.

Here's the thing. HRC is every bit the huckster that Trump is. She just delivers the message as an Ivy league lawyer would do it, not a sophomore in gym class.

And again, because some people just don't get it. Don't read this as an advocacy for a vote for Trump. No one should vote for Trump. But HRC is selling you guys a line and you are buying it.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

I know the polls have tightened but are things this bad for Hils that Scooby is calling it for her?

Push the PANIC BUTTON!!!
I still reserve the right to say I told you so after the election if Trump wins. That being said even I have to face the facts that that's not very likely.

And another that's in the 3-5% that sort of gets it but really doesn't. At this point it isn't about people anymore. It's about parties. And the Republican Party is out to lunch and as long as they are out to lunch they are not acceptable to run a dog pound.

You will see evidence of this throughout Clinton's Presidency. You've seen evidence of this throughout Obama's Presidency. Don't believe me? Look at the farce they made of the Supreme Court nomination/appointment process.

This is entirely possible, and it's well thought out. It could happen. I don't think it will at all, but it could.

However, the alternative is unthinkable. There is no way the current incarnation of the Republican party should be trusted with anything important. Those who are not thieves are fanatics. I have to do what I can to keep my country from falling into their clutches.

But as I have said many time before, it's easy for me because I also happen to oppose their basic messages and methods. The people who will be the heroes of this election will be conservatives who vote contrary to their partisanship and stop Trump. This is their chance to put country first. My test may come in my lifetime; if it does I hope I have the strength of intellect to recognize it and the strength of character to meet the challenge. This is their test.
