Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

The UK Guardian chirps in with "Forget the FBI cache; the Podesta emails show how America is run"

... the emails that really matter are the ones being slowly released by WikiLeaks from the hacked account of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta. ... they are a window into the soul of the Democratic party and into the dreams and thoughts of the class to whom the party answers.

They are, they think, not a class at all but rather the enlightened ones, the people who must be answered to but who need never explain themselves.

So what?

And could someone please tell me why the email thing even matters. Unless Ex-Weiner has all the emails, given to her by Hillary herself, marked as Classified...how does any of this change anything? We already know things were "mishandled" and we already know the FBI knows this and wasnt going to do anything about it so whats the point of all this?

I am not asking to be snarky I just really want to know.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

650,000 emails. That shear number intrigued me so I went on a hunt for more info.

As best as I can find the Clintonmail server went online circa 2006, prior to the time she officially kicked off her run for President in 2008. So, let's guestimate that server ran for 10 year (3650 days). I'm using that to give benefit of doubt to how long Huma had an account on there.

650,000 / 3650 is 178 emails per day, every day (including weekends and holidays). That's a big time number for a single user, especially when that user has other email accounts (like a State Department account).

If there are that many emails on there Huma really needed to learn how to use the "remove me from this spamogram" link in the bottom of advertisement emails, or she was really popular with the Nigerian email scammers, or she had a lot of emails from who knows where*.

*Who knows. Maybe she had a pre-@Clintonmail.com account that she ported in a prior ten years worth of email.

Handy, we have to open the 650,000 emails to see what's in the 650,000 emails*. :D

Honestly, it changes nothing. But it confirms what many Trump supporters long believed**, and they'll use Podesta's emails as the proof.

*Apologies to Nancy Pelosi
**"We the People" aren't running the show; the globalelitistIlluminatiBilderbergCFRTrilateralRoth < gasp > schildWallStreetBankers run it all. Alex Jones says so donchaknow, so it's gotsta be true!

IMO, the FBI not doing anything smells of "want to still have a career." Not gonna prosecute. This LATEST issue smells of a last gasp of the GOP. There's nothing there (as of now).

Overall, Hillary was careless (and her underlings even more careless). That concerns me. Someone who can't manage something as simple as an email service will (I stand firm in saying "will") be in charge of our country?!

And just to stress: Yes, still better than Trump. By a mile.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Just making sure cause to hear some people talk about it you would think she has video of Bill banging Monica while Vince Foster was dying on the floor next to them ;)

BTW since it was asked about what Hillary has done Here Is One List

Now some of that is rather close to resume padding, but there is quite a bit of various types of experience in there. She is certainly more qualified than the last 2 GOP nominees by a long shot and is more experienced than Obama was when he was running.

That's really going out on a limb. ;)

"Most traveled Secretary of State during tenure as top U.S. diplomat" <-- We can only hope she was burning bio-diesel based jet fuels.

I chuckled when I saw five committee assignments as a Senator. Oh my ... Five! Why ... that's what ND Sens Hoeven and Heitkamp have now each. Sorry. Not impressed.

But I would take John or Heidi* before Clinton or Trump.

*Did I just say something positive about Sen Heitkamp? It must be time for bed ...

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

That's all you took from that list?? And yet don't support trump? Ok...

If you are going to troll you need to do better than that even Flaggy is mocking that effort ;) :p

BTW I was about to post This Article About the FBI Looking Into Drumpf but you beat me to it with another article about it. There is a zero percent chance the FBI didnt let this leak after the lubeless prison raping they have gotten since the "Not Necessarily The News" type scandal broke. (incidentally...that was an awesome show!) A nice deflection but a bit too obvious.

edit: So Wait...Comey Wouldnt Name The Russians As Meddling in the Election Cause it Was Too Close to The Election

FBI Director James Comey argued privately that it was too close to Election Day for the United States government to name Russia as meddling in the U.S. election and ultimately ensured that the FBI's name was not on the document that the U.S. government put out, a former bureau official tells CNBC.

The official said some government insiders are perplexed as to why Comey would have election timing concerns with the Russian disclosure but not with the Huma Abedin email discovery disclosure he made Friday.

In the end, the Department of Homeland Security and The Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued the statement on Oct. 7, saying: "The U.S. intelligence community is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of emails from U.S. persons and institutions, including from U.S. political organizations. ... These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the U.S. election process."

So October 7th was too close to the Election...but October 28th is ok? Ruh Roh Comey you gots some 'splaining to do!!! ;)

The explanation I've seen for the discrepancy is that Comey "promised" to inform Congress of any further developments in the Clinton email scandal, so he felt obligated to put this (vague) letter out. Its a pretty weak excuse when dealing with the world's most important election, but it seems to be the best Comey has.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

My wife and I share all our devices except for work systems.

The one place I draw the line is my Kindle. I hate having to paw through her stuff to go to mine.

Yeah, but you aren't Carlos Danger, Ron Mexico maybe :D When you have 650,000 emails, you must spend some time on a computer. You going to wait to respond because Carlos is playing birds or ginning up under age excitement :) I can't imagine she forgot about a laptop but I can imagine him knowing her passwords and keeping 650,000 get out of jail free cards

Careless is an overused word in the grand scheme of things and doesn't need to be applied to how she will perform in the White House. Once President do you think she's going to be sitting around sending e-mails all day long? Everything the POTUS does will be scripted for the most part, carefully watched and protected and she's going to be a decision maker not a writer. In that regard she's infinitely more qualified and trustworthy than Trump and it's not even close.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

If anyone is attempting to rig the election it's being done on behalf of Trump. :D ;)

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Comey has no responsibility to report to Congress. There's a reason the executive branch reports up through the President. This is actually an important structure.

RE: Hillary - I'm with the guy at the DailyKos. With the connections she's had for 30 years in government, where's the signature policy (Clinton Syria resolution?), legislation (HillaryCare?), initiative (Interstate highway beautification ala Lady Bird).

And one must not be "binary". Not liking Hillary does not automatically make one pro-Vulgarian. False dichotomy. Sorry.

As far as the FBI and the Trump report in the NYT --> just too < bleep > convenient timing for my taste. All this says we're Pinocchio to some unknown's Geppetto. (I'm somewhat surprised the NYT ran with it given their outrage over Comey on Friday.)
