iMHO. IF Michelle waned to go into politics and make a long term run for he President, I would say she's near the top of the list to win.

Her only "faults" would be policy related, like for you. Which is how our nominees should be.

by 'long term' you mean -go run for the senate- :p

It is pretty interesting that the retired Dem politicians are out there either hitting the trail or doing other projects (Clinton, Carter, Gore, etc) while the Bushes and Cheney might as well be in a witness protection program. Nobody mercifully ever hears from them anymore.

Well the Bs are not happy that tD beat Jeb! so they're staying home.

Dick! may be as polarizing as tD and Hill are. But, come to think of it, he may be the neutron that starts a runaway chain reaction that destroys debate site 3.

Those Dems are respected. Those Republicans either aren't respected or, even when there are subgroups with whom they are popular, they hate Trump and won't do it.

Obama is awesome, though -- his appearances are great and he's really our best link to the Millenials. I've lost touch with Bernie but I hope he's touring every college campus in battleground states and in-play districts. Likewise Warren with college graduate 20-somethings with enormous debt and the ability to listen to a policy speech.

I respect Jimmy Carter. He was an ineffective president but good as a past pres, IMO.

Although he and Emory U have a historically close relationship, he was willing to pizz off a lot of those folks with his views on Israel's West Bank policies. He seemed weak while in office, but he is not a weak man. Anything but.

Has anyone heard from Albert Gore Jr lately? Is he still out wandering the wilderness looking for polar bears and raving about banning cars and babies?

I can't see it right now. It's not a well-kept secret that Michelle has absolutely hated her time in the White House and can't wait to leave. There's no doubt that she has the intelligence that she could have played a much bigger role in her husband's presidency, but stuck to the typical FLOTUS BS like obesity because it kept her(and more importantly her kids) from being attacked by all but the easily-brushed off hardcore racists. Hillary provided the roadmap of what happens when you're competent and politically ambitious and I don't think she had any desire to deal with that circus.

Of course, a few years down the road, once both kids are older, that could change. Especially if the political climate evolves and the Republicans are forced to start acting like human beings again.

The first two steps are extremely improbable, the third is an impossibility. It relies on the naivete that the Republicans disavowing Trump last week were making any sort of moral choice. Nothing hammered home the extreme selfishness and self-centeredness of the party like the fact that not a single one could disavow that without starting with "I have a wife/daughter/mother/mistress". They literally could not object to it on a level that it is wrong to do that to another human being; it has to be about them. To put it in shorthand, feminism=bad, aggrieved property owner=good.

The only reason they've backed away from Trump is because it's becoming obvious that he's going to lose, and lose badly. If, by opposite of miracle, your and Sic's wildest fantasies come true and Trump gets close enough that it goes to Congress, they'll be right back on board.

Uh, he was in Florida with Hillary last week. When he finished backstage, he found a box of ballots with chads and began weeping.

Pence doesn't get it either.

It therefore came as something of a surprise yesterday when the Republicans’ vice presidential nominee talked to WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, and heard a question from an 11-year-old girl who said, after hearing Trump’s rhetoric, “When I hear those words and look in the mirror, they make me feel bad about myself.” Pence was asked what he’d say to that girl and he responded:

“Well, I would say to any one of my kids and any children in this country that Donald Trump and I are committed to a safer and more prosperous future for their family. The weak and feckless foreign policy that Hillary Clinton promises to continue, has literally caused wider areas of the world to spin apart. The rise of terrorist threats that have inspired violence here at home, and we’ve seen an erosion of law and order in our streets.

“And we’ve seen jobs and opportunities evaporate and even leave Ohio and leave this country. I would say to any of our kids that if Donald Trump and I have the chance to serve in the White House, that we’re going to work every day for a stronger, safer and more prosperous America.”

Did that answer the girls question? NO.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Pence is an idiot. Maybe not as bad as Trump but really, had he been the nominee he'd still lose, just by closer to Romney type #'s. His tenure running Indiana hasn't exactly been stellar.

He was out campaigning with Hillary the other day. One of your fellow Righties Not Voting For Drumpf was mocking Hillary for having him with her.

BTW the new tactic is in full swing...GOPers are now in full "Hillary is a crook so vote No" mode. They are even enlisting crooks like Jack Abramoff to help. Too funny...
