44 states would include: AR (R+14.9), MS, LA, KY, TN, MT, SD, KS, TX, SC, IN, MO, UT, AK, and GA. No way.

To get the straight font states above you need 5 more points. The italic, 10 more points, the bold italic, from 12 to 15 more points, and that's from now which is Trump's nadir, down 6.9 points. If you know anybody who thinks Trump is going to lose the popular vote by 31 points you need to question them whether they are under the care of a physician. Harding beat Cox in 1920 by "only" 26 points -- the largest popular vote margin since 1796.

First, I'm not convinced we're at, or even close, to the nadir.

Second, the comparison to 1920 is kind of fascinating because of the similarities between Harding and Trump. It really shows how far we've come.

Zhirinovsky is certifiable. I don't even think Putin considers him an ally. More "she's got the crazy eyes, play along..."

Ring a bell?

Just in the last year or two.

n February 2015, he suggested to "burn all Paris" and "sturm Berlin" during a speech at the Duma.[83]

In May 2015 he stated that former President of Georgia, and then governor of Odessa, Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili, should be killed. "We will shoot all of your governors, starting with Saakashvili, then they'll be afraid. And there will be a different situation in Europe and Ukraine. [...] Let's aim at Berlin, Brussels, London, and Washington." He then said Ukrainian political prisoner Nadiya Savchenko should be shot and hung in Belgrade.[84]

In November 2015, after the incident of a Russian jet plane being shot down by a Turkish F-16 after an air-space violation, he stated in a speech to the Duma that Russia must detonate a nuclear bomb on the Bosphorus to create a 10 meters high tsunami wave that would wipe out at least 9 million Istanbul residents.[85]

Forget about all the bigoted, unconstitutional policies Trump himself has advocated during this election cycle, he has such a self absorbed and just plain juvenile past I was wondering when the Clinton campaign would start going at him hard. The recent stories about sexual misconduct is similar to the Cosby situation. Once he is shown to be vulnerable and publicly denies things he has, in fact, done, people will come forward. With Trump, I'm sure there are more. The only down side of the sexcapade stories is that they detract attention from other flaws that are just as serious and more dangerous.

He is worse that a schmuck--he is unfit in a way that is unprecedented.

This is why I told the Nervous Nellie's fretting about the race 6 weeks ago to relax. Races aren't won in August. They're won in October-November. Of course this has been orchestrated by the Clinton campaign (thanks for the scoop Captain Obvious Sicatoka). I'm sure they have worse. The job is to bury not only Trump but everybody associated with him, which is the entire Republican party with very few exceptions who mostly aren't on the ballot this year (Kasich for example). A good scandal takes 2 weeks to sink in. That means we have one more to go probably before the debate next week, let it marinate until the end of the month, and then the last week of the campaign is open season on Goopers up for re-election.

What kind of idiot feels sorry for Donald freakin' Trump?

Six months of people shouting SOCIALIST or TOO OLD or whatever dirt they dug up on Biden would have produced the same effect, and likely been worse since neither would have been as capable at running their campaign as the Clinton team has been.

Its time people accept the cold, hard truth. No other Dem candidate would have won this race. I don't see Biden, Warren, Sanders, or anybody else willing to cut Trump's nuts off as effectively as her campaign has done. Biden can't get a break from the press, and Warren and Sanders would be trying to make academic arguments vs a lunatic. The Clinton campaign is unearthing things on Trump that 16 other Republicans and the entire national media miraculously couldn't find? Or maybe they were too intimidated over being sued by the guy. Hillary laughed at that and exposed the guy as a fraud. Unless you change the law to allow Obama to run for a 3rd term, she is the best the Dems could do to counter the combination of Trump's insanity + his ability to manipulate press coverage.

To be honest I too am sick of the "piling on" if you will so to speak, but Trump has no one to blame but himself. Not even because he is an actual scumbag, but because he's run a campaign completely devoid of specific policy and he launched the, "crooked Hillary" meme long ago to start that ball rolling. I'd love to never hear any of it again, but in the meantime I guess eff him he has it coming.

If Drumpf went silent the "piling on" theory might hold water. He is the one tweeting going after his party...his surrogates are the ones attacking Hillary through Bill while defending him and his behavior. Should a team stop swinging at meatball pitches because they are up 5-0?

The funny thing is if Hillary called off the dogs, the IMMEDIATE headline would be "Over Confident Hillary Thinks Race Is Already Over" followed by some helpful polls from the same media outlets showing a (cue the ominous music) "tightening race" (GASP!!!)

Trump is a jack *** and he gets what he deserves.

This needs to be repeated many times over. Just one of that hockey team could have taken a dive to expose what the fraud tD is. None of them did.

It's not as if this is that big of a shock- we all saw how he treated fellow candidates as well as the moderators at debates, how he slammed whoever spoke badly of him- all of which people do if they have nothing. Shut people up instead of actually engaging them.

The republicans failed in the worst possible way. And now they face a massive civil war thanks to their, well, doing nothing.

The NYT response to Trump's threatened law suit is a pure evisceration. Dude is in way over his head now that he's not just bullying two-bit plumbers out of payment.

What the hell: http://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-apologises-serbia-yugoslavia-bombing-509417

"The bombing of Serbs, who were our allies in both world wars, was a big mistake,” Trump told the Serbian weekly magazine Nedeljnik for an article published on its website Thursday. “Serbians are very good people. Unfortunately, the Clinton administration caused them a lot of harm, but also throughout the Balkans, which they made a mess out of."

Why is even the point of saying that? Oh wait...

Eric Gordy, professor in Southeast European Politics at University College London, told Newsweek Trump’s words echo the tactic used by the Russian government to cultivate support among Serbs.

“The most obvious interpretation of his statement is that it is another sign of alignment with Russia,” he says. “To be honest, this kind of statement is usually more a symbolic attempt for Russian politicians to drum up resentment towards the U.S.,” Gordy explains.

“I expect this is probably just rhetoric by Trump as U.S. policy in the Balkans has been pretty consistently supportive of Serbia since they waged the aerial campaign in the 1990s,” Gordy adds. “Otherwise it is hard to imagine that the U.S. could be more pro-Serbia at the moment.”

I would kinda like to see Hillary and the Dems start poking at the same people Trump is poking. Trump is such a gasbag of vanity and loathing that the enemy of his enemy becomes his friend at least for the 10 minutes until he takes offense at something else. Let him destroy the GOP establishment, by all means. Let him fight with Ryan and tell the Trump Army to boycott sitting GOP members who don't endorse him.
